I don't "get" the craze for 27" decks, but that is just personal preference and ride style. What I do get is an appreciation for the professional look of the completed product. You nailed the molding, shaping, graphics application and grip job. Nothing about it screams, "home made board". A board worthy of any arsenal and a source of personal pride for a design and build more than well done.
Great job guys! It's clear that this was not your first time making a board. I loved the press idea. Cashed out longboards sounds like an awesome idea for future development :)
Thanks for the feedback! I agree with more plys on longer boards, 3 was just a recommendation as shown in the video. I have 4 other longer boards that are still going strong and I am going to post a video showing them and my other trucks and wheels.
Thank you so much for that video, it was fantastic and super helpful. I've been trying to find a simple video like this on how to make a longboard for ages. This was great!
This is an excellent tutorial, clear and concise. Good job guys. I've been feeling like making my own skateboard for a while but I don't have access to power tools :(. Again, great tutorial.
had to actually sign in just to like this video hahaha!!, hands down best video guide to making longboards!! i only had one question on where you ordered your wood
Best video I've come across to make a cruiser board!! I volunteer at our towns after school center where we are working with the city to build a skatepark. We have a design approved and are set to break ground this fall. I do lots of projects with the kids and would love to help them build 5 or 6 of these. I have all the big tools at home. Table saw, router table, sanders. But they could do all the gluing clamping and finishing at the Center. The only problem is finding trucks and wheels. You said you used hardware from a stereo board? Would penny cruiser hardware work as well?
Awesome! Yeah my trucks, wheels, and hardware off a stereo cruiser, but penny stuff would work great. There are brands that would work too but I haven't done too much research on that. I'm sure the kids will love this project, good luck!
+Alvaro Montilla Thanks! The trucks and wheels are taken off a stereo cruiser board, but you can find similar trucks and wheels from skateboard websites and on ebay. Good luck if you make one!
this is amazing I applaud you and actually using your time wisely. would you ever consider making and selling a specific board? I'm in the market for a 22", or 25" board
+Tommi892 Whatever feels right to you! I wouldn't go too much concave on a small board like this though, it might be uncomfortable to ride. Best of luck and sorry for the late reply!
Hey man, this is awesome. Nice work! I'm trying to make six boards for all of the groomsman in my wedding. A few questions...what did you use to finish the board? Polyurethane? Same on top and bottom?
Yup, I used polyurethane, one less coat on the top because the grip tape covers it and adds more protection but if you do both sides the same it will work just as well. Good luck on your boards!
Sure, for materials to make the actual board you will need 1/8 inch baltic birch, some type of wood glue, grip tape, and clear coat. As for the press, some scrap lumber and screws, and clamps to press everything together. For tools, you will need sandpaper, a drill, saws, and a razor blade to cut the grip tape. If I missed anything it should be shown in the video. Hope this helps!
Baltic birch is just a kind of wood, it is better than normal wood such as pine because it allows for some flex but is still strong enough. I am not certain that multiplex will work but as long as it birch for all layers and 1/8 inch or thinner it should.
Alright, so I'm making this. I'm at the point where I need to drill the holes and I'm wondering how you avoided splitting the wood on one side when drilling. Any tips on how you avoided exploding a little bit of one side when drilling would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, great video! Liked and subbed!
If you put a scrap piece of wood against the bottom of the board and drill through the board and into the scrap piece it should avoid the splintering issue. Good luck with your board!
Yea that would definitely work, just make sure the deck isn't rotted or cracked. The center of it should work and sanding it wouldn't do damage as long as you don't sand tons of material off. Good luck with your project!
Yeah definitely, right now i'm working on a clear coating tutorial and a custom grip tape tutorial but the next longboard I make i'll make a tutorial with!
I want to make one that is 9x27 and I was wondering would this still be a good video to use. Also how many layers of Baltic Birch will I need because I weigh 200lbs.Thanks!
Yes, this tutorial will still work. Since 27 inches is still a fairly short board, you might be able to get away with 3 layers but I would go for 4 just to be safe. I hope this helps!
Really cool and helpful tutorial! Do you recommend using leftover grip tape to sand down the edges of the grip tape just like a skateboard so it won't peel off?
I'm actually trying to start making my own boards as well. Right now I'm just using oak planks like the old school 70s decks but would like to make a laminate one eventually. Out of curiosity though, where does one find laminate or speciality woods like that?
What I used is 1/8 Birch plywood because I actually couldn't find veneers locally, but search online for local lumber yards or wood product sites. Hope this Helps!
Fantastic tutorial!!! Is there anyway i could get a hold of a pattern for the deck? Also i was wondering where you hot your wheels and trucks? Regular old skateboard trucks and wheels arent the same as the ones your using are they?
Thanks! I got my wheels and trucks off of a stereo cruiser board, which is like a penny board just a different company. Regular skateboard trucks are wider and will not turn as much and the trucks I used. The wheels I used are softer and slightly larger than skateboard wheels.
Wow that was cool and great job on that. You have most all the tools there. Could you craft a 32" kicktail cruiser deck for me? I'm serious. That's really a nice looking handmade board.
Al Machado Thank you very much but as of now I just make the boards for myself.. The amount of time it takes is just too much to sell boards at a reasonable price, thanks again though!
What kind of trucks should I buy for mine? I don't want super top of the line but not junk either. I just want a fairly nice set of trucks for my cruiser. Got any recommendations?
Hi ! Honnestly this is the best video I've ever seen about building a cruiser board :). I would to build my own board but I don't know how to find the pattern (=model) to draw the form of the board. Do you know where I can find this ? I think I'd'like a board more thin as Penny plastic skateboard. Think you it is possible using wood ? Won't it break ? Thank you for answer, good bye. (I am French, explaining my strange english).
Thanks! If you already have the tools and clamps glue and birch plywood are fairly inexpensive, around $20 for a 5x5 foot sheet which you can make at least 4 mini cruisers with. The expensive part is finding cheep trucks and wheels.
using your method, do you think there is any way to add some camber to a slightly longer board to give it some of that rise in the middle? great vid btw...simple yet well made. ps. also what tape did you use to tape off for the lines. every time i have tried to stain it bled tru...even using a small amt haha
I'm glad you enjoyed it! You can add camber with a slightly different press, I made a 33 inch cruiser which is in my longboard quiver video that has camber. I might make a video on it eventually but for now look on sites like silverfishlongboarding for ideas. The tape I used is masking tape, I think the brand was 3M. Hope this helps!
Beautifuly executed project bro. For me its not a proper cruiser but a lil penny though. A fun board. Like for a proper cruiser that you want to cruise with why such a small deck? For me a cruiser has to be the size between a freestyle deck and a longboard deck. Something like a old school bowl deck. Anyway good good job mate!
+BathoryTepes Viktor thanks bud! yeah this is a penny style board, I make some bigger cruisers too, the ones I'm working on now are more like a small pintail mixed with a deck like his one
Just wandering, how thick had to be those birch wood planks? :) since ill need three of them, i cant have very thick ones, so about 2-3mm of thickness for each one?
I don't "get" the craze for 27" decks, but that is just personal preference and ride style.
What I do get is an appreciation for the professional look of the completed product. You nailed the molding, shaping, graphics application and grip job. Nothing about it screams, "home made board".
A board worthy of any arsenal and a source of personal pride for a design and build more than well done.
This is honestly the best board I've seen so far. Awesome job!!!
Thanks!

This is very cool and I will make one but can you list out the material for me? And if there's a template I could print off? I'll be very glad thanks.
That is really a professional job you did dude! looks real nice! Do you think long board trucks would work on a old school deck thats about 10 inches?
Thanks man! Is that 10 inches wide or long? If it's 10 wide then definitely, if its 10 long probably not
CashedOutBoards hahaha no 10 inches wide, thanx for the reply man! good luck with your projects!
Great video, I think i'll go make one.
Really sick! Nice job.
Hey man, this is great! Could you do one on a Longboard?
Thanks man! I'll make a full tutorial with the next longboard I make for sure, although I don't know when that will be.
Very nice vid!
How thick is the wood that youve used? 3x.....?
Is so amazing!! I want to do one like that, wich are the trucks and the wheels you use?
+Alvaro Montilla Thanks! The trucks and wheels are taken off a stereo cruiser board, but you can find similar trucks and wheels from skateboard websites and on ebay. Good luck if you make one!
That was cool, I wish I had all the tools to do this :)
this is amazing I applaud you and actually using your time wisely. would you ever consider making and selling a specific board? I'm in the market for a 22", or 25" board
a complete board*
wonderful job !!!
Please, how many degres º for the taill? I need that to buil my press, thanks you and nice job!
great video!
there is a size for a good concave, some advice?
thank you!
+Tommi892 Whatever feels right to you! I wouldn't go too much concave on a small board like this though, it might be uncomfortable to ride. Best of luck and sorry for the late reply!
One of best self-made i've seen man! good stuff and what was your dimensions for the board in the video?
great video dude 👌
Hey man, this is awesome. Nice work! I'm trying to make six boards for all of the groomsman in my wedding. A few questions...what did you use to finish the board? Polyurethane? Same on top and bottom?

liked it so much in the future can u make a pintail longboard
+Aiden Dingbaum Thanks! And I can't guarantee a video on a pintail longboard but if I do make one i'll certainly make videos on it!
that looks like a board you could buy in skate shop nice work
Thanks!
Most help full and cheap way thanks
Dude you got skills good job
Thanks!

Hi
Hi
CashedOutBoards Add some emotion to your face. It is really needed for us to feel connected to you and what you're doing.
I love the concept !!!! :D
Alright, so I'm making this. I'm at the point where I need to drill the holes and I'm wondering how you avoided splitting the wood on one side when drilling.

This is actually very nice!
Can you make longboards as well?
Thanks and yeah, If you check out my longboard quiver video you can see some of the homemade longboards I made
Awesome. Would it be possible for you to make a tutorial on that someday?

Veneers I mean
What I used is 1/8 Birch plywood because I actually couldn't find veneers locally, but search online for local lumber yards or wood product sites. Hope this Helps!
Thanks buddy..and good luck with your hobby as well!
what's the difference between reverse kingpin and standard trucks (riding wise), and why do you usually use standard trucks for mini cruisers?
where did you buy the trucks from? great job on the board by the way!
Thanks! I actually bought a stereo cruiser board before I made my own and transferred the trucks and wheels over to my board.
Fantastic tutorial!!! Is there anyway i could get a hold of a pattern for the deck? Also i was wondering where you hot your wheels and trucks? Regular old skateboard trucks and wheels arent the same as the ones your using are they?
no those are for longboards, or at least the wheels are, they are smoother for cruising. i believe those are penny trucks but im not sure.
Thanks! I got my wheels and trucks off of a stereo cruiser board, which is like a penny board just a different company. Regular skateboard trucks are wider and will not turn as much and the trucks I used. The wheels I used are softer and slightly larger than skateboard wheels.
You can buy separate trucks and wheels on penny´s website
HobbyApple you can buy separate trucks and wheels on any skate shop website lol, longboard trucks would be way better than penny trucks for this.
OutLived Yes, you can buy anything on a skate shop website, but longboard trucks would not be a good match for a 22" Cruiser board.

Love it!!! Great video
+Tbrcms thanks!
@CashedOutBoards Ty man, sorry but just one more question, how long can the board last?
No problem, if you don't beat on it too hard and if it was constructed well it will last a very long time
Awesome. Thanks for the video.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice job.

Yes, 1/8 inch is equal to about 3mm. Have fun building your board!
Thanks, gonna need to find some birch wood now :))
awesome dude!
Hi, I'm writing to you because I'd like to know what kind of paint you used to make your balck stripes on your cruiser board!
Thanks for your answer!!
I used dark stain to make those stripes. I hope this helps!
And how do you apply it on the board?
I'll make a video of it next board I make, but use masking tape to make your design and apply a light coat so it doesn't bleed.
Ok, I'm looking forward to see your video about that!!
Thanks
Great job , i like the board
