    Great video as always! Really glad I found your channel, especially for tanking. Your videos always raise points for all levels of players, and give good examples about why you do/slot/wear 'x'. Hope your channel blows up, because your content is honestly better than a lot of the bigger content creators! :)

      Thank you so much Deano, that is very encouraging to hear. I’m definitely trying to keep the quality up and improve upon it as I can. Hopefully that explosion will happen one day! (Preferably one day so! Lol) I appreciate you watching and sharing though. It’s awesome and humbling to hear people like what I do, and it’s exciting to be able to keep at it and have a job like this.

    Great video Nightharrow, lots of interesting points!
    One comment I would make is what you said towards the end about not making videos for the very top end of players because they already know. I don't consider myself in that class of player but I do think that kind of stuff is useful for people that are ALMOST at that level (which I do consider myself to be in that group).
    It's super hard for me to find info and advice at this point because it feels like the only way I can find that info is from being in groups with people who are already at that level.
    There's very minimal guides out there that show what strats top players are doing and the only main place to even find their builds is esologs but even then you have to work out the 'why' part yourself.
    Just a few examples out of hundreds I could think of:
    Stone garden trifecta - knowing the trick of running the werewolf add through the dungeon to get potion drops at convenient locations, or good places to taunt the stone behemoth, or how to coordinate your group in killing the stone behemoths in the final boss fight so that everyone taunts one, someone saves ult, people wait for ult to be used and then grab the synergy and use frost breath. This info is invaluable for getting the trifecta but I cannot find it anywhere online, I only know from running with other groups.
    Trash DPS setups - often people like charles will show their trash setup in the description below their parse video but there is no instruction on skill priority or how to use it at all.
    This is a much more beginner example but even knowing what a 'rojo' healer is. I remember a few years ago being asked if I could rojo heal and I had no idea what that was, tried to google it but there was no good info. I'm looking again now and it looks like there is ONE halfhearted explanation of it on skillfactory. That's pretty much it for a whole support role that is used in almost every trial. Even on the healer haven discord the info is there but its pretty buried.
    I've watched/read a million rockgrove guide videos/articles in preperation for raid leading it, but I'm pretty sure every video said that the oax poison goes on the furthest players from the boss. Nope, it's furthest from the pools apparently.
    I hope that makes sense!

      Hey MPAII!
      So I just want to start out by saying thank you for taking the time to comment, and for being so thoughtful in doing so. And for what it is worth, I think these are all valid points and I basically agree with you on everything.
      Alright, now to the issue. So unfortunately, it's just a numbers game. The number of people in end game is already small, and while I do what I can to grow that community, I cant really be making videos for the small (probably single digit %) portion of that community that is running HM's & doing trifectas. It just doesnt make sense as a content creator. And honestly, I have spotty knowledge of that stuff to begin with.
      At the same time, I dont want to leave that group hanging, I want to help if I can (you may not feel like you are in that group, but honestly is sounds like you are). So I try to do a few things to help. First I would say come by the TWTB discord server and ask questions there. That is probably the best source, but I also try to include the information you will need to do that sweatier stuff in my videos as well. So for instance here th-cam.com/video/9LBHNH3iafU/w-d-xo.html I cover trial optimization. In theory that should give you the information you need to make an optimized raid group, but my specific advice is to the more average group of people playing the game, who dont have the time or knowledge to come up with their own group optimization. Similarly with this video th-cam.com/video/nzWYJRQ5yCo/w-d-xo.html where I cover damage mitigation. I try to give the simple answer while also explaining briefly how it all works. Or this video th-cam.com/video/wejPsI3zj_E/w-d-xo.html where I talk about frost clench and mention that in sweatier groups you keep up major main with this skill, while also not recommending that to the average tank. Also, for what it's worth, I talk about rojo in one of the only healer videos I have ever done. th-cam.com/video/9Fh624IlR0c/w-d-xo.html
      All of that to say, I try to cover this more serious end game player stuff as best I can while also making videos with the average player as my core audience in mind. And I try to explain the why on everything I cover (within reason and subject to time constraints). My goal in that is you guys not needing my advice eventually.
      tldr is Im with you, I just dont have a better solution than what Im doing now. but Im always open to suggestions. Until something better comes around, I would just invite you to come to the discord server linked in the channel banner and ask your questions there, maybe we can help.

    I think that your take on warden is a bit off, but I get where you're coming from. The issue is that most of those things you wouldn't choose honestly. Polar winds is usually always the choice, ice fortress has down sides like costs increase, where you could just put undo on your front bar.. I think that the main issue with warden as you said is that you will 9 times out of 10 will have a warden healer. I would 100% put warden as "A", if templar is "A" then I think warden is as well. I do not think templar is better than warden with group buffs either, and the same statement with warden, or night blade, you will most like have one of them as the other healer lol. Not even a warden main just thought id add my opinion. great content as always.

    • @Nightharrow
      @Nightharrow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think current me might agree with you. Lol. I don’t like undo really because you have to give up a lot of mag sustain with the passives for barrier but otherwise I think you have a point.

    My experience level is "anything that can be pugged", meaning normal trials, vet Craglorn trials, vet dungeons including DLC, perhaps most but not all hard modes.
    It would probably be easier for me to make a tier list, because going in blind with people you don't know, group compositions you don't know, and even content you don't know - e.g. normal and vet Dungeon Finder - you're forced to come up with the one and only build you want to run. As I don't tank on all classes though, I could't actually make that list.
    I play a mixture of Brawler-spam and regular builds and am doing so on DK and stamsorc. I usually run Tormentor, Vicious Ophidian (for Brawler sustain) and some combination of Master weapons, e.g. 2H and 1H+S. It's hard to say whether the stamsorc or the DK is better. The stamsorc excels at carrying bad groups due to superior, ongoing self-healing from health regen, Crit Surge, Dark Deal, and shielding from Brawler sustain. The DK, on the other hand, is able to turtle up with superior blocking and Cinder Storm spam. Tormentor turns Unrelenting Grip into an often free, ranged taunt, as well as Stampede into an AOE taunt. Efficient Indeko cost reduction enchants drop Cinder Storm cost to next to nothing and Pierce Armor cost to around 800. I consider the Master's 1H+S weapon to be my main self-heal on DK.
    I agree that the harder content you do the more everything becomes situational. I like finding solutions to PUG content. As an example, there is a trash fight in (n)DSR as you enter the section before the final boss, e.g. the platforms leading downwards. PUGs frequently wipe. While it doesn't really matter, this is where a Tormentor build can save the group. The DK is able to aggro most of that trash pack, then turtle up and survive. I found this more effective than wearing Pearlescent Ward for helping the group. Like you mentioned Streak as a fun skill, I also find rushing around and rounding up mobs with Stampede / Tormentor a fun playstyle.
    My general philosophy at this level is to play a "selfish" build, but one that aggros everything and helps to kill everything with Brawler. In normal dungeon PUGs, doing damage can be very necessary, because the range of group proficiency is so wide. Here I prefer taunting Brawler builds over going in with a fake tank. Playing a pure Brawler build works up to roughly all non-DLC vet dungeons, including hard modes. Above that level I usually switch to a more conventional blocking build or a hybrid build with Brawler on one bar, 1H+S on the other. There are still some fights that benefit hugely from the Brawler approach. The last boss in vCauldron is an example, even on hard mode. You can solo it with Master 2H and the stamsorc level of self-healing and sustain, if not the DKs.

    • @Nightharrow
      @Nightharrow  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s cool. I’ve never tried using brawler like that. What kind of Dps can you get on the trial dummy? I got up to 35k on a blade tank. I could run vSS with it, but it was sketchy and I kept having to swap from Dps skills to survival ones.

    • @fredeso7844
      @fredeso7844 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Nightharrow Yes, it's very difficult to combine damage mitigation and damage within the same build in higher level content. My stamsorc, the pure Brawler build, does 27K on the trial dummy with Brawler, Caltrops and Stampede. About 5K weapon damage and 49% crit on the dummy. The stamsorc works well in lower tier content or content with a lot of adds, where the Master's Brawler damage and shield both ramp up, backed by Crit Surge healing. I never use ultimate on that build, which bumps health regen to about 3.5K via Strategic Reserve as well. Constant HOTs mix well with the Brawler shield and allow you to solo / carry some content that other builds can't, such as the vZaudrus fight and early parts of vBRP.
      My DK is an attempt to combine a block tank with a Brawler build and, unfortunately, the compromise really shows. It still has 5K weapon damage and 42% crit on the Brawler bar, but it only does 18K (I really don't know why it's so much lower other than sorc vs DK passives) and can't sustain well on the dummy. Damage goes up to 21K with Standard of Might. I was only using Stampede and Brawler on the DK.
      Obviously damage and sustain go way up when there are AOE components to the fight. Indeed, even when you're soloing I find it beneficial to retain pull skills so as to increase Brawler effectiveness.
      It was a good question to ask for the case of a high end group, especially a 12-person group. The established meta of buffing others and sticking to your role makes sense in that context, I reckon. At the other end of the spectrum, e.g. normal dungeon PUGs, the stamsorc can end up doing 50% of the group damage.
      One of the reasons that pure Brawler builds have a ceiling is that blocking while swinging Brawler is extremely hard on stamina. The sustain in general is a problem and is diametrically opposed to a good blocking tank. In comes that new mythic that would allow you to block with magicka on a 2H build and freely spam Master's Pierce Armor as a heal. I haven't tried that yet. I'm wondering what class to try that on, e.g. probably a class that has non-regen source(s) of magicka.
      I know I'm going on about my builds ... just to add I really appreciated the amount of detail and the reasoning behind your tier list in the video. It gave an insight into a part of the game - organised (trial) groups - that I don't really play.

    How would you say situation is looking right now ? Comming back after a break and planning to tackle 4man hms and maybe some trifectas. I know you can do basically all content on every class but what would you say will work for medicore player for 4man dlc hms?

      @Nightharrow  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends a bit on your group composition but DK is still kind of utility, necro has the Rez that can bring back 3 other party members and that can save a run, and then arcanist or warden has some of the best buff utility. Arcanist is just a bit hard to sustain and you might already have some as dps.
      So dk all around, necro if you want/expect to be a hero, and a warden otherwise.

      It’s totally fine man and won’t be what holds you back imo. All tanks in the game can really do all content, it’s just that some are different, not as easy, and might require you to do different things. But honestly by the time you are doing the content where it really matters, you will be able to tank on multiple classes. There is a very high skill ceiling in eso.

      It’s good! Not the best but plenty good. Arc dps is so good and also easy that you usually have many in the group so it’s less desirable in an optimal group, but definitely nothing wrong either it!

  • @lumberidge4692
    @lumberidge4692 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m hearing a lot that Necromancer tanks are very survivable, how are they survivable compared to the other classes? And why is their stam sustain worse?

    • @Nightharrow
      @Nightharrow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! So you have 3 main things that make them so survivable. First is the spirit mender which takes 10% of their damage. Second is necrotic potency that takes another 3%. And then third is disdain hard which reduced their dot damage taken by 15%!!! The two newest trials (and therefore the hardest hitting) have a lot of dot damage, and necros have the highest mitigation towards that type of damage by a fair amount.
      As for stamina the issue I mainly two things, first is that they do not have a way of regenerating as much stamina while blocking as most other classes. Dks get stam every time they cast an earthen heart skill line ability, templars can get a ton of extra regen from their tune focus, etc… for a necro you can try mortal coil, but if you just make sure you only use stam for block, you should be good tbh. And make sure you heavy attack. I have a video on when to heavy attack if you are unsure. On this note though, let me know if you keep having stam problems and we can trouble shoot it together.
      Note: I’m not trying to be exhaustive here and I may be missing a few things, but this should be most of it.
