Moissanite’s are actually not diamonds , they are a gem that is made up of a different chemical compound all together ,called silicone carbide . Diamonds are made of pure 99% carbon . There are now however lab diamonds made of the same chemical compound(carbon) as a natural mined diamond , just made and created in a lab . Moissanite is quite beautiful on its own ,but not as strong in durability at a 9.25 on the MOH’s scale where as a Diamond is a 10 on the MOH’s scale . They also sparkle a little differently , they actually sparkle more , but with more of a rainbow sparkle than the white flash sparkle of a diamond . I did research because i was looking into getting a Moissanite for when I travel instead of wearing my diamonds . Very pretty though indeed !

@@MelissaFreeman I did my research girl . My son was torn between this gem and a lab diamond for his very ethical soon to be fiancé . In the end he chose a lab diamond , mainly because it’s more durable and she’s quite rough on her hands, but I did get to go with him and look at all 3 next to each other and learn about the differences and see the difference in sparkle for myself ! I truly say don’t waste your money on a natural mined diamond , EVER ! If it were today I would go for lab diamond or even moissanite and save the money on natural mined diamonds. My husband spent a fortune on my wedding rings , but that was a long time ago before you heard of all of these alternate kind of diamonds and gems that are just as beautiful if not more so .For some reason people think natural mined diamonds hold value but they are honestly just like buying a new car ,once you put the diamond in the setting and leave the jeweler it’s already depreciated in value, Just like when you drive a brand new car off the lot lol . Unless of course you have some rare celebrity diamond that’s flawless ! Glad I could help

That s perfect sense! I value my mind diamonds purely because of the meaning they have! I’ve often considered upgrading at a certain time but I find it hard to give up my original!!

@@MelissaFreeman I feel the same way about mine ! My Engagement ring especially, is a custom design that me and my hubby did together. So even though I have had thoughts of changing my setting over the years , I can’t bring myself to do it , because it’s just too sentimental . My husband has never been into details, he still isn’t lol , he actually took the time and interest into choosing certain aspects of my
setting with me , it just makes it that much more special. We were also super lucky to have had a jeweler in the family and so I was able to get a 5.94 carat round brilliant diamond for my engagement ring (hence the fortune spent lol) however we didn’t pay anywhere near retail or even wholesale that’s for sure , his uncle gave us the deal of a lifetime , otherwise we would not have been able to do it .However because my diamond is a bit larger in size next to the average size 1-2 carat diamond most of my friends and family have and what’s seen today , I do have many occasions where I’m not comfortable wearing it . Sometimes it warrants unwanted attention and some really rude and obnoxious questions . You know people these days girl , they feel they have the right to come out and say or ask whatever they feel . No matter how rude or in appropriate it is .So I have been looking at Moissanite just to get an alternative wedding set for traveling or those times I just don’t feel like being scrutinized or judged . I’m sure you know exactly what I mean ,being on social media , I’m sure you have had your share of negative and rude comments lol. The way I was raised , I would never come out and ask or say the things people have asked or said to me , that’s for sure ! Moissanite , however is not as cheap as I initially thought . I also can’t wear sterling silver on my fingers , for some reason I break out , only on my fingers though , not my neck when I wear sterling silver necklaces and not my wrists either with bracelets . So weird that it’s only my fingers . So I would need to set it in platinum or solid gold . Now it’s 10x cheaper than my diamonds were even setting it in a precious metal , but with all the research and videos , I have yet to find a video that talks about the wear and tear of Moissanite over the years . I hear it’s the 2nd in durability to a diamond , so come back after a year or 2 and let us know ,if it’s scratched or dulled like a CZ over time . I don’t want to pay to have a Moissanite set in a precious metal , if it’s going to dull or scratch down the road . I am always banging my hands and rings into something lol . I would also just really love to alternate a different style . Besides the round cut , I’ve always loved a pear cut diamond surrounded by a halo of diamonds , I chose a solitaire non halo style for mine , which I still love , don’t get me wrong , but it would be fun to switch it up without spending a fortune. Enjoying your videos , I also subscribed to your channel , love your accent too . I’m from NY , so I for sure have that NY accent lol , it’s nice to hear a southern accent ! 🥰🥰

Thank you to the author. I was about to say the same thing but you beat me to it.
I also have a lab grown Moissanite wedding set with lab grown diamonds in the halo and pave area. I LOVE my ring, although mine cost $1100. Still a far cry cheaper than mined diamonds. There is literally no need to even buy those anymore.

Moissanites are not “real” diamonds. Only diamonds are real diamonds. Moissanites are their own gemstone - completely independent from diamonds. When it comes to diamonds there are only mined diamonds and lab grown. I liked your video, I just think this clarification is important because leading people to think moissanites are diamonds is simply misleading ☺️. I am a fan of moissanites but just please know that they are their own gemstone.

I completely appreciate your video And im not knocking your explanation. I just feel like in some way your explanation can be construed as incorrect or misleading since technically a moisannite is not a diamond and vice versa. While lab diamonds and moisanite can share something in similar value , such as being lab made, their chemical compositions are not the same, they were just both manufactured in a lab. Natural diamonds are earth mined, but most of moisannites nowadays are made in a lab since it is rare in and of itself. So i feel like when you say my moisanite diamond, a lot of people can be misled to believe that such a hybrid product now exists in the market when there really is none. A diamond is a diamond, a moisannite is a moisannite, and never the twain shall meet or be one and the same.

Moissanites ARE NOT diamonds. They are moissanites....they look similar and have many of the same properties but absolutely ARE NoT diamonds. Natural moissanites are far more rare,in fact natural Moissanite is literally not even from Earth.

Definitely misinformation. Moissanite is a gem stone with similar properties as a diamond. The hardness is 9.25 and a diamond is a 10 so they can pass as a diamond and They shine more But they are NOT diamonds. They are a diamond alternative Made of a silicon carbide . Diamonds are made from carbon. They are measured by millimeters but you will find them referred in ct like Diamonds but they do not weigh like Diamonds. Moissanites are beautiful and I have some myself but they ARE NOT DIAMONDS. THEY ARE GEM STONES.
