I never count how many times I have listened to Antonio Vivaldi's performances - not only The Seasons... For example, Bassoon Concerto RV 484 (E minor) - I’ve probably listened to it 50-100 times since I first heard it in my father’s room, secretly playing his LP. I was 14 and wasn’t allowed to touch his equipment without permission. Now I’m 57... Every time, I try to uncover the secret of the Bassoon Concerto. I believe that’s where I started writing poems (almost 40 years ago), trying to express what I felt about it. I’ve written many poems inspired by Vivaldi’s music, but RV 484 remains a mystery to me. I remember listening to The Seasins performances by Spivakov and Sergey Stadler, maybe Perlman (though not live). I think I’ve heard many versions... Europa Galante’s different editions. I even remember a ballet performance where the dancer was frozen, surrounded by a Winter Woman... And today, this miracle. Thank you very much for this performance. Thank you for the amazing quality of the recording. Yesterday, I asked my Facebook friends why my poems about classical music, the ones inspired by it, didn’t get almost any responses. And I answered myself: perhaps not many people truly listen to it... (Classical music)... I’m a little upset that several hundred of my poems about music are not widely known, but I’m even more upset when music on TH-cam doesn’t get the likes it deserves. I hope this performance (it’s been up for only three days) will receive the gratitude and respect it deserves Sincerely, Misha Mazel
