I've created this colourised trailer to pay tribute to "the original, you might say" in celebration of William Hartnell and the first era of Dr Who.

Now I really wanna see the entirety of The 1st and 2nd Doctors' runs in color, it would be so jaw dropping to see how this world canonically looked like when it began.
This is like a trailer for the very beginning of Doctor Who. You made an incredible job I can't even imagine how many hours you've spent on this. Your final work is incredible, the music, the lines, all the scenes, everything excites you to go watch the Hartnell era. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us for free, it means a lot to Doctor Who fans.
Why are the bbc not employing you to re color all 60s doctor who this is amazing and one day I hope we can see all of the 60s in color

They could have the colour versions and black & white versions together so it's optional. With these blu ray releases they could animate the remaining black and white episodes as well as colour for the first 2 doctors. It wont ever happen as the money to reanimate episodes is already quite a lot but one can dream.
Dr.Who1980 Productions yes but you can have both versions on the same DVD best of both worlds.

It would be good to see all the episodes regenerated (pardon the pun) into colour, if it is all possible. I know black and white is best but a nice colourised version be great
They should all be in black and white. But, I would mind a color version as an option. As long as both were available on one set.
Unfortunately it would be way to expensive.
I honestly prefer the original one, but I like this concept
William Hartnell IS, and always will be, the FIRST Doctor.
And literally no-one has ever claimed otherwise.

I usually really don't like colourisations of b/w classics whether movies or TV, but this is just fantastic. Kudos for all the hard work, dedication, and the end result is stunning. The structure and editing is fabulous too, really nailing the modern trailer/teaser approach. Serious congratulations to you.

wow this is brilliant,any chance of doing a Patrick Troughton tribute,as colour really enhances and doesn't replace classic black and white dr who,a really good choice of clips too,marco polo + galaxy 4.
Thank you. I don't think I'll have time for a Troughton one in the near future as I'm currently working on a project colourising a full episode (a Hartnell)

Growing up in America we didn't get doctor who until 1979 on WOR TV in NYC. Then later on when I moved to Florida it was on the local PBS station on Saturday nights at 8. They show the whole story. Great show wish they were showing it when it started. Been a fan since 79.

This is the most wow thing I have seen so far on youtube for a long time. Just gobsmacking brilliant.
One mild criticism in an otherwise excellent job...there are some cases where you don't 'hold' the color as it transitions from shot to shot. As it fades, just at the last moment, it shifts to B&W again.

There is No footage from Marco Polo. It is from the Celestial Toymaker. Only colour pictures exist with audio. One scene did look like Marco Polo (guy with the scar) but I doubt it. Not one second of film exists from Marco Polo. Could have been a reconstruction. Check out the live reconstruction of MISSION TO THE UNKNOWN on UTube by University students. If you didn't know the story was missing you would swear you were watching the real deal.
I hope I am a wrong about Marco Polo. Even if they found one episode - BOY WHAT A TREAT THAT WOULD BE .
@@JohnMorris-ge6hq The footage is of Derren Nesbitt in Marco Polo, but It's not necessarily an actual scene. I think it's just an animated shot of a still image (which can be done with software) with added snow?

@@thejacal2704 Yeah why does everybody seem to miss that? It's literally a shot of the character Marco Polo stumbling backwards during a sword fight, presumably in Part 7 where he battles Tegana

Get 'em all colourised and upscaled in time for the 60th anniversary and broadcast on BBC1. They'd make the money back from international sales instantly.

Lol this was always trash man. Doctor who has never been watchable until 2005 rolled around. I guess back in the day you just took whatever you could get, but even by those standards, this show was good only in concept until 2005.
@@idrinkmilk282 You clealry aren't a fan of classic Who. When I say 'I'd rather watch this than new Who,' I mean the Whiticker/Chibnal era of the show, not the 2005 reboot leading to Capaldi's portrayal of the character. Eccleston, Tennent, Smith, and Capaldi were great and could all do 'Timelord'. I don't think Jodie can carry the character off at all.

I've always loved the colourisations and been fascinated be all the snippets over the years It would be amazing to have a complete story and I have always thought if a fan can do these on their computer in their bedroom then surely the BBC or another hired company can for example there has been complete laurel and Hardy coloured and some of the basil rathbone sherlock Holmes as well as complete movies like miracle on 34th Street and scrooge so why not doctor who.I was looking into doing something like this but I always wandered how do you know which colours and gradients to use ?

I'm surprised how much colour there is to see. Since it was filmed in monotone you wouldn't expect them to bother. It just shows how much time and effort was put into the show.

Always wondered it this kind of face-lift would make older episodes play better.
I fantasize about tightened editing, clean up the audio, an upgraded contemporary (but respectful) musical re-score, some AI enhancement to up the improve the resolution. The animations have been lots of fun...even the fan produced ones were fun!

Actually, the prickling sensation scene from episode 1 of War Machines makes sense if you realise that the events of this story, Faceless Ones and Evil of the Daleks are occurring within the same few days. The Doctor isn't sensing the power of WOTAN but the Daleks lurking at Waterfield's antiques store. The second Doctor and Jamie are somewhere nearby also.
So the production team at the time of filming TWM already planned out the next few years in advance, you think?

They’re releasing The Daleks as a 75 minute movie with colour, new scenes, new music and new VFX. But there’s lots of creators who share full episodes like this on their patreon

I could be wrong (but I don't think I am), but the colour of Susan's outfit in An Unearthly Child was not purple or very bright pink, and for confirmation check out the film Day of the Triffids, wherein Carole Ann Ford wore the same clothes after last being seen in 'em in The Dalek Invasion of Earth
