  • Big trees being no match for big winds and it's boom...boom...out go the lights, and the frustration grows.

I drove to Augusta Friday night for my job. It was so bad that I had to hit a u-turn on Washington road and head back to Columbia. We got it bad here and I still have no power at home but no doubt Augusta got it way worst than us right now. 🙏🏾😳

My hometown, it breaks my heart seeing this. Some of my family got power back, sent some down with Family that came to NC-GSO (thankfully we weren't impacted by Helene, but I did lose my car to a tree that fell on me while i was at a traffic light) supplies for some who were unable to get anything. But keeping everyone in my prayers. I hope to donate for those here in NC impacted and back home in Augusta😢

I came from Indiana to help/work in Augusta because I’m a linemen and trust me we’re working as hard and as fast as we can but this storm didn’t just knock the lines down it destroyed everything making the process of restoring power exhausting and very timely

I asked many of my friends who actually work for the municipalities in the area.. they had no plan in place, as they thought they would not have any issues from the storm.. the problem for the area is arrogant and ignorant individuals believing they would never be hit by a hurricane..it's a shame that the individuals that are supposed to serve and protect the communities are completely oblivious to the power of a storm .😢😢

That’s not actually true because Georgia power started staging lineman and tree service companies before the storm even hit trust me I know because I came down from Indiana two days before Helene hit Georgia to help with restoring power and there were several other companies that came too

It’s a lot of transformers busted and broken still power lines down many areas still have trees in the road and houses guess who u didn’t see. Landscape business vehicles I tell u what they were the main gas guzzlers at those pumps being greedy with all them unnecessary cans ijs Augusta was definitely hit hard and I 🙏 we recover 100 percent in all areas not just downtown and the masters golf course

As a native Augustan, I’m absolutely hating the fact I now live 1200 miles away and am not there to help…planning on taking time off of work in a week or so to come down and help.
