Unfortunately Friedman appears to continue to design their amps only for the US market where Marshall is grossly overpriced. Friedman amps are just so incredibly overpriced compared to Marshall or other competition in Europe as well as other parts of the world.
The companies merged, I think. The company that was making all the lifestyle stuff was actually making wayyy more profit than the amp company. So they purchased the amp company... @@tonedowne
Just like back in the day when I would call Parker guitars with questions and more often than anyone else, Ken would pick up the phone. Whom I strongly believe is also a living gem to the guitar community.
Dave sent me a custom faceplate for my Smallbox 50 completely free of charge, didn't even charge shipping (from the US to Norway)... Responded quickly even on Sundays, can't praise the guy enough for his 11/10 customer service.
Dave has been teasing this vintage plexi design, a version of Eddie's amp, and an AC30 for like 2 years now. So awesome to see this in the world finally! Here's hoping the AC is close behind 🤞
You should copy what Dave did to mic this up, because it sounds better here than any other amps including Friedmans sound in your regular Andertons videos.
They are literally doing everything people wanted- Friedman's plexi, reboot of the rackmount, and synergy head with IR out. Props to a company that feels like they are doing it right.
Later this year it sounds like. I have the Syn30 head with Friedman BB/BE and Morgan modules and love it. I could totally use this setup and love the new features. I wonder if they might add more MIDI control of the digital parts through CC. Interesting that it looks like it will be EL84 based for power - from what I understand. Very curious about the Dr. Z module!!!
I wasn't expecting the Plexi reproduction to come out yet. That's awesome. I can't wait to see what the AC sounds like. I think Andertons were the only ones to show this amp so far.
I haven't had a real amp in a LONG time, just using plugins these days. (city apt life, cabs are unfortunately a non-starter) Been eyeing a SYN-1 with a few modules + an Opus vs something like a Kraken Mk2 + load box + Opus and pedals. I have to say that new Synergy "lunchbox" has me extremely intrigued. I may have to stand pat till later this year and see how that looks. Of course.. the gear isn't holding me back I should just practice and play more. :)
Knew this was coming! He's been talking about doing this "vintage" line in a few of the recent interviews at his shop... where he was in the midst of studying a Vox AC30... so I bet we'll see his take on one of those sooner than later.
Love the Soldano interview & how this guy didn’t listen to one thing he said… “I just love the purple….” full disclosure, it’s the only interview I watched.
That Soldano Pre-amp looks freakin amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I really want hear that on a high quality demo. Pete Thorn, Rabea, please review this!!!! And for the out of the box point n shoot, please send one to Kyle Bull…. His “belligerent amateur” style would be freakin epic on a piece of kit like this!!!!!!
Please get a 'Van Halen' guy in when you do the Andertons demo for this amp (I've noticed there's usually a lot of blank faces when it comes to references to Van Halen in Andertons vids or star interviews. UK TH-camr Cameron Cooper would be so perfect for this), and maybe explore that PowerStation Attenuator, because they are superb bits of kit for getting the best out of vintage style amps.
@@Tanax13 you’re on every channel saying the same thing. Talking about price buy what you can afford or willing to spend. Sometimes you can’t put a price on quality. If marshals are that in expensive in Europe, then you should just buy and sell on reverb.
@@nurzyboyone8826 Just like every American is on Marshall videos complaining how expensive they are in the US. Might be because we all think the prices are too expensive and want them to be more reasonable. Wouldn't it be nicer if more Americans can buy Marshalls and more Europeans can buy Friedmans?
It’d be cool if Friedman made an amp usable at low volume that had a quality taper on the volume pot and didn’t sound like the cabinet had 15 blankets and 4 inches of cement over it.
All these guys said they started skipping NAMMs because it wasn't worth it and didn't meant the same thing anymore, and covid just solidified that decision. But seems like they really missed seeing their buddies and colleagues in the end and ended up coming back. Friedman makes so good sounding stuff though. Is Mikko from Finland or just has Finnish heritage? Because that's a Finnish name he got as any.
Never left (for me). Still rockin a VHT 2100 Classic power amp, Bogner Fish preamp, Valvesonic Plexi, Randall RM4 modular (predecessor to Synergy), PCM 81, Eclipse…. Etc I’ll stop now lol
I wonder will they have WAAAAAAY too much low end like every Friedman I've tried? Like its great they it can do it, but why have 0 be basically what 10 is on other amps? Why not start at 0 and go to 20 instead of starting at 10 and going to 20?
Dave Friedman is a guitar community living gem.
He needs to get healthy . Hi blood pressure
Friedman continue to show Marshall exactly what they should be doing if they weren’t making fridges and lifestyle Bluetooth speakers.
The problem is, they are probably making more money as a lifestyle brand.
Unfortunately Friedman appears to continue to design their amps only for the US market where Marshall is grossly overpriced. Friedman amps are just so incredibly overpriced compared to Marshall or other competition in Europe as well as other parts of the world.
They don't actually make that stuff though, they get other companies to do it.
have you tried the sv20 because it's a brilliant amp.
The companies merged, I think. The company that was making all the lifestyle stuff was actually making wayyy more profit than the amp company. So they purchased the amp company...

Friedman personally responds to support emails and treats all his customers with consideration, not just the famous ones.
Agreed, Dave is the king of customer service no matter who you are.
Just like back in the day when I would call Parker guitars with questions and more often than anyone else, Ken would pick up the phone. Whom I strongly believe is also a living gem to the guitar community.
Fryette doesn't reply emails for shit, that's what I commend Dave for

Yes that's true ! Got a mail from him for my inquieries on the IR - X
Take my money Dave… TAKE IT!!! 🙌
Ok.
Props to Synergy for actually licensing and working with (in many cases) the original amp designers and companies for the modules.
The Friedman sounds absolutely amazing, but the Soldano is the most exciting news so far!

That's great, but the Eddie amp thing I don't care about. It won't make me suddenly be him (which is good since he's passed, lol).
ok???@@Scott__C
a Friedman version of the AC30 is something i'm really curious to hear
You should copy what Dave did to mic this up, because it sounds better here than any other amps including Friedmans sound in your regular Andertons videos.
Take my fricken money! Wow, that Friedman Vintage might just be my next amp purchase. Sounds great!
Word!
I am eagerly waiting for a Hiwatt DR103 iteration from Dave!!
ME and Danish Pete at 0:06 🎉❤😎🤘 ....great meeting you DP and discussing the Astro20 and the Tone City Durple🎉❤
Genuine excitement coming from Dave. Love it!
They are literally doing everything people wanted- Friedman's plexi, reboot of the rackmount, and synergy head with IR out. Props to a company that feels like they are doing it right.
My wife just now: “What is this, Antiques Roadshow for guitar amps?”
DEFINITELY hyped about the X88IR!
Soldano rack mount preamp coming back!!! One model had motorized knobs.
Yes! The Caswell
The video I’ve been waiting for !
Wow it will be mine oh yes it will be mine The Friedman Vintage…..badass⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️Dave is a legend, always paying respect to EVH⚡️
That little Synergy lunchbox amp head will be in my collection this year!

My VHII pickup is in that guitar!
So awesome to hear The Captain playing it through that killer amp! Amazing.
Thanks for doing NAMM coverage. It has been missed the past few years!
I hope synergy release an update to the syn2 to include power amp sim and ir loading
That friedman plexi sounds amazing. Wish he could do the same for the JCM 800.
Well, that little red head on top is your 800 by Friedman..
Friedman has like 5 jcm800 style amps already
Damn, Captain Lee Van Halen nailing that brown sound. That amp is incredible.
The sound of that Friedman duuuuude!!!
the X88 is the only thing from this years namm that's peaked my interest

Its nice to see new amps in a world of plug ins.
Oh finally the FV Plexi! Love it!
Dave is just the coolest dude in the amp industry

I want that SLO rack mount!!!
It is like the origin series, except you have 1W 5W and 20W adjustment switch meaning you can get a great clean to dirty tone at low volume levels.
Not only is the new Friedman amp cool, so is that black Friedman Cali!
@leontodd we are going to need a demo of the Soldano!!
Love the Soldano interview & how this guy didn’t listen to one thing he said… “I just love the purple….”
full disclosure, it’s the only interview I watched.
I don't think I've seen an amp head with a built-in Variac. Neat.
Suhr SL have them as well
Mesa tweed power had this since the 80s lmao
That Soldano Pre-amp looks freakin amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! So good
The Captain played a riff from little Stevie Vai!
Speaker? M Creamback? Makes me think maybe the M because it was smooooth.
Great job!
Oh no the Mini Diezel
Friedman Vintage will be a smash. That thing sounds incredible!!
YES BRING BACK THE RACK!
Dave is a real rockstar…. I can tell he had a few drinks before this interview and still nailed it 😅
Love this!!
That amp sounds killer!
We need more sound demos of what this baby can do!
Go Lee! You might have to give up the Plim Soul for one of those Friedman Vintage amps. Great Tone!!
Ive been a peavey man since starting guitar in 1996, until last year when I switched to friedman!
I Hope they make this in a Mini Head eventually!
Synergy is the best solution out there ;)
MEGA proud BE100D, THE best amp on da planet! I tried them all! 🤩😋
Built-in Variac....WoW #EVHBrownSound
That Friedman is absolutely out of this world good
Way to go Dave! 👍🏼👍🏼💪🏻💪🏻
Dave Gilmour's American cousin :)
Dave feeling good here - great amp
Sounds great - still needs the Fryette to roar though.... PPIMV isn't quite as fun (even Dave agreed 🤷)
That friedman sounded stellar. Marshall is dead long live king Dave !
That depends on how much it costs :P A 50W Plexi (1987x) costs 1400€~ new in Europe. I doubt Friedman will be below 3000€.

How much difference between this and the Suhr SL67 MKII??
That little Syn 20 looks interesting. Synergy price to entry is too high for me, but maybe that is the ticket
We need Lee and Pete on Tone Talk soon
A more rounded sound for a Friedman. This amp will be popular
When is Dave’s amp available?
No FX loop on the Friedman? Thats disappointing but I bet theirs a tonal reason??
Friedman vintage 😮 there goes my savings again !
I want a Friedman!
All these guys said they started skipping NAMMs because it wasn't worth it and didn't meant the same thing anymore, and covid just solidified that decision. Is Mikko from Finland or just has Finnish heritage? Because that's a Finnish name he got as any.
I got to meet Mikko today. Can't say where he's from but he was super friendly and eager to answer my questions about their gear.
Yes, he’s from Lieksa, Finland! - proud girlfriend moment .
2,5k for the Soldano X88IR... that was a little bit sad to me...
5:32 Is Lee playing a bit of Vai? 😂
Friedman vintage....wow wow wow.
Wonder how much this new amp is going to cost?
Rack is officially back!
Never left (for me). Still rockin a VHT 2100 Classic power amp, Bogner Fish preamp, Valvesonic Plexi, Randall RM4 modular (predecessor to Synergy), PCM 81, Eclipse….

❤Sensacional
Is that new Synergy head EL 84's, 6v6's, er' solid state?
On fb they say it will be all tube EL84, 3 Channels..one clean built in + two from the module.
He looks like david gilmour
Although sounds like him in the high treble channel
Ok, a few new amps ‘n stuff, but why aren’t I wanting to get my credit card out?
X88 is back
Z Wreck module?!?!?!?!!
I know right?! They kept that quiet. Very intrigued about how they’ve designed this since it’s based on a single channel amp. Excited for this!
Thanks Lee & Dave. Great early insight. Dave is the man. Hide my wallet.
9:00 Ah yes, the SRV 90’s tone. All 8 months of it. 😞
we need more Friedman products with cringy names
The X88R reissue really is calling me… but $2500 is just too rich for my blood.
Please don’t interrupt Dave.
Synergy Z-wreck!!!!!!!!!
i thought i was the only one who noticed
He said he wasn’t going!!!! 😂😂😂

Dave continuing to define what guitar amps should sound like. That tone Lee has was fat AF
FRIEMAN NEEDS A 20 OR 25 WATT CLEAN AMP
If you like it clean go take a shower
If you like it dirty, buy a Friedman
-Something new and exciting
-Another plexi clone....
Marshall is over. Overpriced under performers even Slash can’t stomached them anymore.
FOR THE MONEY FREIDMAN CHARGES FOR HIS HOT ROD MARSHALS PERHAPS HE COULD STOP USING CHINESE TUBES!!
