    My dad bought a Friedman 20w amp a year ago and when it arrived it had a grounding issue. We went ahead and made a video showcasing the problem and Dave himself actually replied to the email and troubleshooted for us and eventually he arranged to send a new one out for my dad. My dad now uses his amps almost exclusively now. We were really impressed that the customer service actually came from the owner himself.
    Dave is a good dude.

      @@douglasdog1 we had contacted them before. And he asked what the specific problem seemed to be, so we decided to make a video showcasing the problem with both a strat and les paul to show that it had a definite grounding issue

      Had a similar situation a DS Mini I bought through Sweetwater was not working so I sent email to Friedman. Dave answered personally from his iPad and over the course of a few days and emails isolated the problem and had new tubes in the mail post haste. Outstanding customer service.

    I emailed the generic "service" link on the Friedman site about a year ago to ask a question about the channel switch on my Smallbox Combo (best Marshall school combo in the world, although depending on the day, the Dirty Shirley is just the ticket, it was a tough choice to make) because I wanted to use another brand of pedal looping/switching station with it and it was on a Sunday. Dave himself sent me a reply and I got it in the time it took to go for lunch. That really impressed me. But what really nailed it home, was about 6 months ago when I emailed the same generic address with a super detailed 1/2 page question about running a stereo pedal in the loop while running the stereo side into the front of a wet dry rig and blah blah blah, and again Dave replied (this was a real out there question) with questions of his own about certain specifics, what I was trying to do, etc. There was nothing in it for him, but he went out of the way to answer me, and do some back and forth. You could say, I had a casual consult about complicated rig system by one of the masters. He should've sent me a bill. This man is top of the heap , and his amps are worth the price. Probably a business genius as well. If Marshall were smart, they would have tried to woo him with riches to rejuvinate their amp line.

    I like how Dave designs his pedals using his experience with tons of amps. It seems like most pedals are designed only considering a generic amp but Dave knows that a player could be using any sort of amp, each with it's own issues, and he accounts for that as much as possible. It makes a Friedman pedal a smart buy since it is more likely to go and do what you need.

I actually had the first 3-channel Dual Rectifier that he modified. I bought it new and after a few years, wanted something a little more fluid and less fizzy and he delivered. Regretfully, I traded it away for something with a better loop and more fitted to my gigging band at the time but I wish I would've kept it. I would probably buy it back if I could find it :)

    • @jackcarter5364
      @jackcarter5364 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm looking at all the mini heads to see which would be best suited for me. To me, the PT and Runt seem plexi/JCM based. How would you describe the base tone of the DS and what it's Marshall "equivalent" would be?

    • @TechMetalRules
      @TechMetalRules 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jackcarter5364 Yeah, the Dirty Shirley is more like the JTM 45 (Blues Breaker). The low end is a bit looser and the mids are a bit thicker. It's not as "modern" sounding as the PT but it's still got a ton of gain and can be tweaked enough to still sound pretty metal. I just like the way the Shirley mini is voiced compared to the PT. I also like running it cleaner or slightly crunchy relative to how hot it can get. When I kick on the BE-OD, it boosts the gain, scoops the mids a bit and tightens the low end, essentially turning it into a PT!
