Have a 2019 Alltrack which is the last of the line model year wise that we saw here in the States. Metallic black with cinnamon interior. Original owner babied it thru the pandemic so it had super LOW miles. I paid a premium for it because they are so rare.
Nice vid! I have a 2019 SEL Alltrack with an IS38 turbo swap, stage 3 APR tune, Stage 3 DSG tune and all the mods to support the turbo, Inlet etc..I'm pushing close to 400 at the crank and man is it fun, The DSG is the way to go though when pushing bigger power numbers and it shifts like a dream.
That's my plan with my 19 SEL. Right now just have a APR ECU/TCU stage 1, resonated Miltek catback, inlet, and cold air. She drives SO much better. It's like an all wheel drive GTI. Can't wait for the IS38 swap in the future.
I have the 2018 Alltrack SE (with the manual). I only wish that I had been able to get the SEL, but they didn't have the stick available in the SEL until 2019. Took a lot of searching and managed to find it (new) at a dealer about 150 miles away in another state, but it was worth it. And since I bought it in August 2018, it's still under warranty! Always been a fan of wagons, and stick shifts.
The name Golf comes from VW naming their cars after different winds in German for awhile. Golf = Gulf Stream Passat = Trade Wind Jetta = Jet Stream Scirocco = Mediterranean Winds Polo = Polar Winds
Man, this makes me miss my AT! ‘17 SE 6MT was a beauty. Would have bought it off lease but got t-boned 3 months before my lease was up. my ONLY complaint was the base power plant vs the GTI. Think they missed on that. While it was fun it could have been a bit faster. I’m back in the market for a mk7.5 GTI because I need a 6MT back in my life and as you said ATs are unicorns. Anyway, great video!
@user-kc9cu9wg4v yes that would be my dream haha, the reason I don’t have a alltrack was I couldn’t find a low, mileage manual one these cars have a place in my heart!
I'm with you Shep. I think an Alltrack wagon is at the top of my next used VW list! Sorry I'll be going DSG though. I've driven manual GTI VR6's as my daily for decades. But that DSG is super fast at shifts and still a blast in my mk8 R! Your teacher has excellent taste in cars!
Yes! Totally underdstandable, DSG is still a great trans choice. She definitely does! her husband has a MK6 GTI manual aswell. But Both trans are amazing!
Nice video, you definitely know your stuff and I can spot your passion for automotive world! But I have to ask, I seem to understand your first car has been a Golf 8 GTI? That is insane! How old are you? I am a PhD student/engineer at Renault in France, I am 26 and I still own an old 2004 Ford Focus which i paid 2k several years ago! How, how did you get that? Show us the way
Thank you! I made a video on your question but I'm happy to give you a brief explanation. I am 18 now but I was 16 when got it. I payed for half of my car and my parents helped me and payed the other half. I got the funds by summer jobs over multiple years. I started a sneaker reselling business a few years ago. and mainly thats it. I just had a dream and started early to pursue it! I know that cars and insurance etc is way more expensive over there compared to here. But thats really cool you work for Renault! I would love a 5 turbo hatch one day ;)
@@ShepsGarage yes it's true, here everything is relatively more expensive, and there are big expenses to add for sportier cars! Good job to you then, I am sure you are enjoying it! I'm happy too, I really wanted to work in automotive and honestly the last few Renault are really high quality (I know there must not even be available there though)... Nice choice for the 5 turbo, a real collection piece which now costs more than when it launched!
Gotcha, i thought so. Yes Its a lot of fun and I have no regrets about it. Thats awesome! Yes Probably one of the best renaults to ever come out in my opinion.

Thank you! Ahh gotcha im so sorry that happened. Yeah i can see that if i had one i would have modded it to the 300hp mark.
@@ShepsGarageVW just needs to bring us the Sportwagen R and we’ll be set! But agree a properly tuned AT would be perfect. Wagon life is the best.
