Very nice of your parents to buy that for you. So jealous!
i love how excited he is about such a basic car
While the revers gear and setting is on - you can put the mirror in the right position with the mirror joystick on the drivers door . The left mirror should work too. You should do it in the right step. And so you can correct the mirror angle while parking.
Just wondering if anyone has had glitches in their infotainment screen where it doesn’t turn on when you first start the car, until you turn the car back off , wait, and then restart it again. I have had the car for coming up on two years and it has happened maybe a half dozen times, but It is so random, I couldn’t replicate it for the tech in Service.
"Not drunk. Avoiding potholes". LOL
😂
Great Video Shep‼️👍👌🏎️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, look at this little hustler. Good job with a video! Super helpful
Just ordered a hood strut for my 2024 GTI, Thank you for the recommendation!
034 strut bearings are terrible, I had crazy noise and 1 broke/came apart. I had to put new stock ones back on. Lots of noise too, check the reviews on them. No Bueno
Hey man, I actually disagree. I think these are actually great! There are not making any noise and so far they are very good. Maybe you got a faulty set? Anyhow. I’m very happy with them. Im sorry they didn’t work out for you.
Stupid force sensor in the steering wheel. Thing goes bad and you get sos and acc doesn’t work. Until you punch your steering wheel then goes away.
Hey, Shep. I have the KW Variant 3 coil overs on my Mk8 GTI, and I love ‘em. One thing. I found out, I do scrape occasionally, especially on uneven roads at speed. I’m sure back there in Mass you have a lot of those type roads. Looks like you have a good driveway, mine is steep and pitched so I scrape going in and out, and I scraped on a steep driveway in a public parking lot. I found on stock suspension, when cornering at pace, the balance of the car would be upset, and loose its grip a little. It was unnerving. The coil overs took care of that and now it handles way better, but I’m going to add a sway bar next, for extra stability on the twisties. Just a heads up.
I appreciate the heads up. Thankfully I don’t have a steep driveway so it’s not a problem for me and I don’t go up steep driveways that often when I do, I got used to going on an angle. I do appreciate the heads up!
Who did the installation?
Rayteam automotive.
Now slam it 😂
I have the same car with every package and I do love it and am very happy with the price i paid. I went from a 2017 a3 base model and it’s slower than my old one but def much much nicer in my opinion. But very knowledgeable and appreciate the walk around!
You can use thicker side wall tyres
Nice job Shep‼️🏎️ 📲👍👌👏👏😉
the only light i disliked is the check engine light xD great video! ty for turn signal link. ill probably do that mod with front LED vw logo
I'm sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong! First of all, all the things you listed about worrying about your VW Golf, you did them yourself, like custom paint you're affraid to scratch, or wheels or low suspension. A stock GTI is a very good and durable car on its own, way more so than a Tesla M3. All the positives you list for the M3, they are actually true for basically every other EV out there, and there is many many EVs that are better daily drivers than a Tesla M3. You said it yourself, the M3 is a boring car to drive, well it doesn't need to be boring to drive an EV... there are fun cars out there, that are electric, that are fun to drive, that are comfortable or sporty, that corner great, that feel good to drive, that don't leave you bored. True there is many more fluids in the ICE car than in an EV, but let's presume your "driving it hard" is actual driving it hard, which it isn't, not in the USA or Canada. The only people driving their cars legally hard and actually doing that are Germans on the Autobhan, everything else is just normal driving. So let's presume you want to drive the GTI hard you would want it up to temprature, but the same goes for the M3, you need the battery at correct temperature to do so, more so, you need the batery temperature high enough to supercharge it also, which is actually not the case with the ICE, you can refuel it whenever, however. The cost of running an EV in Europe is higher than running a decent ICE, unfortunately. Home charging my Ipace costs me 20€ ($21) and using a HPC would cost me about 70-90€ ($74-95), shich is almost the same moeny as refuling my V10 costs and with that I get twice the range. The money you put in the GTI, again, is your own doing, so why complain about it, put some mods on the M3, if you really need to personalize it. How can you say the M3 does not need any maintenance? The only actual difference is engine oil and the number of filters. How much does the filters cost in comparrison?
Cost. Not costed. Who did your tint?
3:47 Evs benefit from pre conditioning the battery for optimal range and longevity. similiar to warming up an ICE engine. "Understanding Battery Preconditioning Battery preconditioning is the process of bringing the battery to its optimal temperature before use. Most electric vehicles perform this task automatically, but understanding and manually managing this process can enhance battery performance, especially in extreme weather conditions. Why Precondition Your EV’s Battery? 1. **Improved Battery Efficiency:** Batteries operate best within a specific temperature range. Preconditioning helps maintain this range, improving efficiency. 2. **Extended Range:** A preconditioned battery provides more consistent power output, potentially increasing your car’s driving range. 3. **Battery Longevity:** Keeping the battery at optimal temperatures reduces wear and tear, extending its life. 4. **Better Regenerative Braking:** Preconditioned batteries accept charge from regenerative braking more effectively. 5. **Comfort:** Many EVs precondition the cabin along with the battery, ensuring a comfortable driving environment.
i have a 2018 model S
If you're concerned about money and want two cars to drive then you should just get a beater car instead. Beaters while needing more maintenance then teslas are VASTLY more economic in the long term (given you actually keep and maintain the beater). If you're upper middle class and really value the comfort of a tesla, go for it. Otherwise though, just get a beater like a normal car enthusiast.
I have always been a 2 car, one for sport and one daily drive. I just sold my 2,900 mile 2024 Lexus ES350, which is a great car, after driving my new Model 3 Highland for 2 weeks. The M3 is not quite as luxurious as the Lexus, but it is so much more fun to drive and is quite comfortable. The technology, stereo, ride quality and choices you can make (i.e. FSD, TACC) make every drive a new and exciting adventure. Charging has also been easy, cheap and a pleasure to avoid Mapco stations. I like ICE cars, but I love the Tesla. Believe me, you will love it, especially at the current discount prices.
I love my model 3 as a daily! Gotta love Tesla & Elon!!!
Great to hear!
I'd agree but the touchscreen only shifter and turn signals on the wheel are dealbreakers for me. I've seen friends with around a year of driving around in their Teslas make mistakes, miss touching the "shifter" etc. Truly an idiotic choice. In all other ways a Tesla is true value for money.
It definitely takes getting used to for sure, me personally i would by one a few years old where they had the stalks. Other then that its a great value for sure.
I thought this crappy propaganda can wait till jan 2025 :)) in meanwhile, you wanna talk 2 all owners in north winter states and 1s they get like rainy days and floods, thats gonna change your mind about beeing all electric buddy :))))
😂😂🚨soyboy alerrrtttt 😂😂🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 keep driving ur rc car around bud😂😂😂how elon's balls taste😂😂😂u voted for kam*la😂😂😂😂😂
Great video! I have a 2024 Long Range AWD as my daily and it's fantastic. I agree with all the points you mentioned, and I actually have fun driving it.. extremely fast and offers a carefree driving experience. My "fun" car is a 2024 BMW M2 that I take on fun drives and out to car meets and such.
Thank you man! I watch your channel aswell, great content. Anyways that’s great to hear. I think this car is fun and nimble but definitely different from driving my GTI. A M2 is definitely a fun car, Great difference between the cars and hopefully im there someday!
You are absolutely right. I sold my Audi S3 for a Tesla Model 3 as a daily and couldn't be happier.
That’s awesome to hear man, glad you loving the car!
I agree, I use the Tesla as a daily, and then the BMW is my fun car
That’s awesome!

@@ShepsGaragenot unfortunately..it’s a great thing! 😁
Genuine question. Do you not feel like buying a Tesla in 2024 especially after the cyber truck failure, Tesla build “quality”, false fsd promises, and just Elon musk is a mistake? It seems like you’re not only getting ripped off for a terribly built car but also supporting a terrible human being.
I just want to say I’m not a hater, love the GTi content, and am subscribed. Hope you keep making content.
Hello, i am not the op, but i genuinely think that tesla's are great cars still. In recent times, their cars have gotten worse in terms of build quality, but i still think they are the best evs overall due to their simplicity, availability, top teir software, and general ownership experience not to even mention the super charger network .and their closest competitor, BYD, is not available in the us. Tldr, yes, i tesla's are still worth it in 2024.
I appreciate you asking this question and clarifying you are not a hater, i appreciate the support. Anyways, I feel like buying a tesla in 2024 is still probably one of the best car purchases could make for your buck. I agree with you, I hate Elon. Dude is out of control and is seriously a terrible human being. However, tesla just makes such a good product. The quality esp on model 3 and Y have gotten better, and currently there are go electric cars that can compete with teslas battery technology and range. If you want a reliable electric car that gets the range the manufacturer says, Tesla unfortunately, is still the best. The deals and incentives right now are crazy and it’s such a good car for the money. When we were in the market for an electric car, we tired to stay away from Tesla buy other automakers dont make a good reliable electric car that we felt confident in. tesla has the best charging network and its so easy to live with day to day. We leased this car because it was so cheap compared to rivals and we hope in 3 years the technology is better for other brands and we hope to switch then. Hopefully this answers your question.
Love this Shep’s Garage Video❣️📲🚙👍👌👏👏👏
Tesla's are good for more of an ICE replacement, my Kia EV6 is rated far higher in driving dynamics, I just don't get the range and Supercharger network. Anyway, keep it up kid, I started following you when I was considering a MK8, ended up with a Mazda and then got the EV6 being in a state with tons of incentives. Anyway, just a mild lowering spring and wheels and tires transformed the handling and ride! EV's CAN be very decent to drive!
Yeah exactly, a EV6 is still an awesome car, you definitely have a better looking car. I appreciate it! Thats great to hear and i appreciate the support!
Nice job. Thorough analysis.
Do you find the stock suspension is too stiff for our bumpy Massachusetts roads? Considering whether or not I should splurge on the Autobahn for the DCC
I don’t, if you don’t plan to lower it it’s honestly fine. If you lower it definitely get without DCC as it’s cheaper to lower and you don’t have to delete it.
That wrap is horrible, unless you truly are a little twink. Convinced me not to join the GTI family and buy an R.
Good kid. Keep up your channel.
shout out your dad
Bro got robbed at the dealer 😂
😊👍
You really sound like you grew up with a golden spoon repeating that 44k miles line over and over and over again. 44k miles is barely anything and you act like the car has one foot in the grave. You had some good takes here in there but bringing that 44k miles up constantly makes you sound like you have 0 life experience.
I ❤️ it Shep❣️🚙👍👌🫶👏👏👏👏👏 Nice job‼️📲😄
You mean, your mom and dads Audi Q8. Meh
I’m sure you’re straight, but you’re cute.
base model q8… Ofc you’ll hate it🥴
S5 is single turbo and the RS5 has the 2.9 V6, not the same 3.0 that’s in the S5. Just fyi.
RS5 has a completely different motor lol. Its a 2.9L twin turbo and the S5 is a 3.0 twin-scroll single turbo
What's the price of the new S5 in the US?
yeah all depends and labor rates ? you don't do anything yourself whats the point in not learning how to do all this stuff yourself. those come in a kit you could put them on in your driveway and your dad could help you. get a little dirty its OK dirt doesn't bite
I’m not to sure why you are coming of across as so rude man, but it’s literally just my preference. I don’t have the room or confidence to repair my car myself. I feel better taking it to my guy and paying him to do it for me. If you want to work on your GTI go for it. I’m not going to stop you. But that’s just my preference.
correction again you def need an rs5 for a daily, whats the point. its like when people buy a wrx instead of an sti why just buy the sti. if you got the money rock it. i didnt need awd thats why i bought a GTI.
I was really just stating my thoughts, if you want a rs5 as a daily. Go for it. I’m just saying me personally I wouldn’t daily one because the S5 is so good and so similar.
So why did you not get a golf R then? Because it's not a WRX or an STI. An S5 is already a fast car, can be had with the same sport diff and adaptive suspension as the RS5, already has the same interior; again unlike a WRX vs STI, it's a 20K price difference between the two. And the side reason of if you plan to go stage 3 they both make the same power.
