Mount Etna erupts spectacularly spewing ash and lava

  • A massive plume of ash steam rose into the air on Saturday as Italy's Mount Etna erupted, obscuring the morning sky.
    The Mount Etna volcano has been treating locals to fantastic displays ever since it burst into life on Feb. 16, erupting more than 50 times this year.
    Europe's tallest and most active volcano often erupts but rarely causes damage, while the eruptions themselves do not put the local population at risk.
    The 3,330-metre-high volcano can cause spectacular views several times a year, spewing lava and ash high over the Mediterranean island of Sicily.
    The last major eruption occurred in 1992.

    • @2869may
      @2869may 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      People don't seem to understand the Sun ALSO has a gravitational pull and YES the Earth is moving closer to it, and in turn is getting warmer. As the poles melt there is less ice to reflect heat, So the rate of warming increases.!
      At some point the Earth will get so hot all the volcanoes will erupt, Ash blocking out the Sun for many many years ! Which will cause the NEXT ice age (just one of many) When the ash finally settles the sun will begin to warm the Earth and life will begin to flourish again........ It's a reoccurring process that has been happening for who knows how long... And as we ever SO slowly get closer to the sun the period between these cycles shorten....

    • @Daneelro

      You mix up things. Volcanic ash can cause short-term global cooling, not warming.

      No, it is not a sign that more volcanoes will erupt. Volcanoes erupt all the time, you were just ignorant of it before. Right at the moment, 25 volcanoes are erupting around the world, yet you only heard of 2 or 3 of them.
      Yellowstone is _not_ the main concern for the US. Yellowstone is the active volcano on US soil that had the largest eruptions in the past. However, if you look at what actual scientists say rather than what infotainment "documentaries" or Hollywood disaster movies say, according to the latest research, the Yellowstone supervolcano won't ever blow up again. That's because it exhausted the material (melted continental crust) that could make its magma explosive. Now, since North America is moving westwards, in a million or two years ago, a new supervolcano will form to the east (just as there are the remains of at least half a dozen supervolcanoes preceding Yellowstone to the west), more big explosions will occur, but that's far in the future.
