I was fine just getting the yellow and green categories in Connections today. The purple category was very difficult. 😂

Saw the up category first. Never heard of a sandwich called a grinder so I avoided that trap. After getting those two, the coffee category fell into place. Got purple by default, never would have guessed it correctly.

I saw the 4 sandwiches before noticing "grinder" so i lucked out on that one. The coffee was easy for me, then figured out the "up"s. Didn't take time to figure out the "!" category, would have probably gotten it eventually but i was impatient. My husband followed your train of thought pretty closely today.

I did exactly what you did almost to a T.

Doug you made classic mistake of staying on one category…sandwiches . I also guessed grinder

Got all four in under 2 minutes.

This was one of those days where I only had to get 3 of the 4 categories in order to score the perfect solve. Cleared green and yellow right away and then it was easy enough to find the light blue category, and therefore Purple was my default solve (no, I did not describe it correctly).
Found it shocking that the Connections Bot rated this one 5/5 (I was predicting 2/5), extremely tricky, yet it only had a 53% solve rate with 19% scoring the perfect solve. My guess pattern (green, yellow, light blue, purple) was common, 1 in 15.
After watching your video, you got into trouble I couldn't even imagine. Funny how that works, what's easy for one person can be challenging for another. Wow. I guess my famous saying goes "With Connections, your bad day is never far away!"

Dang you knew the phrase “settle up” was about money and still whiffed!

Funny coincidence but Pony Up was a featured word in the Stacked puzzle for 2024-12-29

I’m a coffee drinker, so I saw the coffee category first so I avoided the overlap.

Ooof you mentioned exclamations too! Both you and Art struggled today; not being in the north (and not having heard of a grinder before), I found it to be one of the easier ones in recent days. Win some and lose some. Can't wait to see you build the streak back up, Doug.

Good try. Luckily, I got the green coffee category first and then the rest was easy for me.

I got the sandwiches since we don't call them "grinders" around here, but that was it for me!

I kept thinking grinder was one of the answers for sandwiches. I am not a coffee drinker, which cost me for a while. I barely escaped with three points and three misses: 💙,💛,💚.

I got a couple of bad guesses along the way, but in the end I got all four, and all their categories.
I've never heard of a grinder being a sandwich, that's the wrong one Doug kept including.

Green, yellow, purple, blue. I almost didn't get this one, kept thinking of grinder as a sandwich. I don't grind my own coffee beans! I drink Folgers decaf LOL. Here lately, blue has been more difficult for me than purple.

No mistakes today. Saw that there were five sandwich types so I looked elsewhere. Beans led to the coffee connection eliminating grinder from the sandwiches. The sandwich category eliminated wrap from _____Up so that was the third one down. Didn't have a clue on how the final four were related !!!!

Goose egg for me, too - kept juggling sandwiches and "____ up" phrases. I think I'm going to not play tomorrow and just start over on January 1st.

When you are one away on the first guess you have to move on. Don't just keep guessing; it will kill you. Yellow was one where there was no reasoning behind which of the 5 to kick out. (Blue had a valid reason not to use "wrap up" because it didn't involve giving money)

  • @michaellee4276
    @michaellee4276 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I got blue (pay "up" money) and purple (Names with "!") perfectly. There were 5 types of sandwiches (lunch orders); i got that on second guess because I figured the NY paper wouldn't use Boston slang. I guessed "pepper___" for the last one. And it works, if a bit obscurely. I don't do a lot of coffee. 3/4 but it continues my streak.

    🟨🟩🟨🟨 Same sandwich issue
🟦🟦🟨🟦 Which way is up (wrap wrong too)
🟦🟦🟨🟦 I wish they showed your guesses after... I can't remember how I messed this up one away again... maybe used "filter"
🟦🟦🟦🟦 My hail mary worked and - Ah, money up
🟩🟩🟩🟩 lit up four of the sandwiches to visualize what was left and recognized coffee beans and coffee filter as connected
🟨🟨🟨🟨 With "grinder" gone, lunch was in order
    🟪🟪🟪🟪 Sheesh!
