Put a finger down if you've ever competed in the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships and then got the wrong puzzle and then had the correct puzzle literally thrown at you and then posted the video online and then millions of people saw it and called you a cheater because they don't understand how puzzle competitions work but you were too busy spending three months editing a four hour documentary series about the whole event to deal with it

People on social media judge others without knowing the full context all the time, it's saddening

1:05:49 I'm gonna cry. in normal speed it kind of looks like they're just helping themselves to their pieces but she GAVE THEM to them to help them finish before her and her teammate. rather than letting them get penalties for missing pieces and her realizing at the END she had their pieces, she let them look first. That is a true example of how welcoming of a community puzzling is.
That was my pairs partner Katrina! We are so glad this finally got cleared up to the community as it really did seem like they stole them 😂 we had such a fun time puzzling next to them, we were cheering each other on through the tough puzzle 😊
No exaggeration, this quality is better than many documentaries with a million+ dollar budget. Whatever Ravensburger is paying Karen, she deserves more.

@AmyBeeArtsy I wanted to disagree but since she said it like that and also always links the puzzles to directly buy in competition videos, I think she got a standard sum. Or some influencers also get paid per views or combo of both (is great if say you know you'll hit 100k but if the video is popular and gets 600k views than you get additional pay and the sponsor doesn't get away cheaply). Anyway since she's like the biggest and only puzzle influencer in this sphere (probably bc of the production quality) and imo gave the whole puzzle thing a big push, I'm sure this is nothing for Ravensburger. I mean most events are just their puzzles, and people buy more to practice and if they like a motif (like me, will get one from one of the former contests for Christmas). I'm being very confident here but I think she's a big reason for their puzzle sales. She has 3 of her own with them. That short will not translate to purchases immediately but it reached 40M people. I hope she got a good deal on that one too bc that is an insane number.
Absolutely. I love, that people who finish much later than the top spots are included. the pure joy is so touching to see and the support from everybody is so nice to witness! Wonderful! =)

It’s here! I can’t believe after all of this work I’m finally starting to release these videos. At us nationals each bag had a different color sticker on it that way someone really couldn’t get the wrong puzzle I’m surprised worlds didn’t do the same thing.
We talked about that afterwards and hopefully they'll implement it in the future? They definitely double checked all the bags for the rest of the competition.

It was lucky hand eye coordination she caught it but the thrower probably believed that since it was a speed competition it was important to save those 10 seconds and believed they had good enough aim to pull it off. They still didn't know how good a catch you were.
I know they don't happen often, but I think these competition videos are your best videos on your channel. I think they're the most entertaining and informative videos you make!
I've yet to finish the video, but the editing so far has been great. Like, the flow of all the quarterfinals is really keeping me engaged. You really picked out fun drama to focus on and go through the puzzle strategy well.
I watched the entire livestream when it all happened and I fell asleep on my couch during the Spy x Family puzzle and when I woke up I remember thinking I had dreamed it because it was such a wild puzzle choice to me 😂😂😂

After watching her coverage of 2023 JPWC I went to the Spanish nationals this year, and then I even participated in the World Championships (but I hadn't got to qualify in any event, even if I finished all my puzzles inside the given time limit 😅). I had so much fun following the Championships this year too, and this video is such a good summary? analysis? celebration? of the quarterfinals! One of my favorite moments is the puzzler at 47:51 being fanned with a huge print of their own face 😂

This video has no right been this entertaining and well edited, the graphs are colorfull, accurate and well presented; the comentary is fun and interesting and made me watch and hour of a competition a didn´t knew existed, every detail, the audio, the name graphs with the respective flags, the jumping between action, the presentation of important puzzlers with there backstories. It´s just so well produced and professional, amazing job.
i did not know there was a puzzle speedrunning community and i think thats kinda so awesome??? it must take a lot of skill to be able to organize all those tiny peices in such a short amount of time but the community looks very sweet, i really love niche hobbies like this being so totally embraced by a community

I love your coverage of this event so much! I'm not even a puzzler though I did buy a few puzzles and finished like 2.5 of them since watching your channel lol. I also love how the competition is heating up! I wonder if soon you can only sign up if you qualify from national competitions or if they will expand to a bigger venue to accommodate more people for the qualifiers. your time and effort on these videos is so appreciated karen! i do think that they should ensure fariness for everyone on the difficulty in each group, because you can't really compare such difficult ones to very easy/fast ones.
You did so well to keep your composure, I would have been absolutely crying if I had gotten the wrong puzzle, had a box thrown at my head, not had it opened for me and watched everyone else puzzling around me feeling like I was so behind everyone else. OMG, throwing the puzzle like that is horrifying! It would have been a disaster if you didn’t catch it, it could have landed on your neighbors table and knocked all her pieces over… and even worst, it is also a big safety hazard, those corners can leave some scars! Grateful it all went well, but if something similar happens in the future, they should really improve the logistics of delivering the puzzles to people!
@@KarenPuzzles The whole way this situation was handled was unprofessional and chaotic. They’ve been running a large competitive event for several years and should have contingencies for potential issues that could arise - it’s not like this situation was inconceivable. And it goes without saying, but no one needs to catch a box corner in the eye. Really unlucky for them that the chaos involved the person who brings the most attention (eyes) to their event. Huge kudos to you for being able to re-group and persevere as I can only imagine the level of anxiety you experienced. I would have been so rattled.

special shout out to the ppl at the competition, as judges, volunteers, and competitors, who are still masking! esp in a crowded building like that with not great air flow, it's REALLY important. masking culture is even worse in europe than it is in the US, so i'm v impressed that they took their own health/safety & that of others v seriously! they're also almost all very high quality masks, too, so good choices & good work!
Right? I thought that was so thoughtful and responsible❤ Tbh, the whole world could take some notes from east asian countries! I know mask culture was already a thing in the east way before covid, but it was just out of common courtesy for your fellow human to cover your face if you felt a cold or something coming on, or say if you are on a crowded train. I know I started keeping them around the house after covid, they come in handy for a lot of things!

If that had happened to me, it would've hit me square in the face, broken my glasses, and I would've started crying immediately. Only Karen can make a puzzle competition intriguing enough for me to watch HOURS of it! She does such a great job balancing the competition with background and facts about the competitors plus analytics and overviews!
At us nationals each bag had a different color sticker on it that way someone really couldn’t get the wrong puzzle I’m surprised worlds didn’t do the same thing.
We talked about that afterwards and hopefully they'll implement it in the future? They definitely double checked all the bags for the rest of the competition.

I think there were some tripods blocking the direct path to me. But like, they could have taken an extra 10 seconds to walk around the other direction.

It was lucky hand eye coordination she caught it but the thrower probably believed that since it was a speed competition it was important to save those 10 seconds and believed they had good enough aim to pull it off.
They still didn't know how good a catch you were.
I know they don't happen often, but I think these competition videos are your best videos on your channel. I think they're the most entertaining and informative videos you make!
I've yet to finish the video, but the editing so far has been great. Like, the flow of all the quarterfinals is really keeping me engaged. You really picked out fun drama to focus on and go through the puzzle strategy well.
I just love how people are cheering each other up when they finish the puzzle, it makes me emotional

I watched the entire livestream when it all happened and I fell asleep on my couch during the Spy x Family puzzle and when I woke up I remember thinking I had dreamed it because it was such a wild puzzle choice to me 😂😂😂

Great video! Kudos, you kept me glued to the screen for the whole length 🥰. I'm looking forward to the next one. Two things stood out for me. Starting at 46:40, when you showed us finishers right up to the end of their qualifyers. And that suspenseful bit with cinematic music starting at 1:04:25 😅.
Such a treat to watch this! Just the right time to release it, enough time has passed since the competition and watching the livestreams, and now one can watch it again, looking back at it without the feeling of repeat!

Agreed. It did the same for me. After watching her coverage of 2023 JPWC I went to the Spanish nationals this year, and then I even participated in the World Championships (but I hadn't got to qualify in any event, even if I finished all my puzzles inside the given time limit 😅).

This is one of the things I love about the puzzling community. I've always clapped for the person next to me and been clapped for. Such awesome vibes.
I had so much fun following the Championships this year too, and this video is such a good summary? analysis? celebration? of the quarterfinals!
One of my favorite moments is the puzzler at 47:51 being fanned with a huge print of their own face 😂

Oh my gosh I think I would have broken down had I been in your shoes during the “wrong puzzle disaster”. Wow extreme credit to you Karen for maintaining your composure and finishing with an amazing time!
This video has no right been this entertaining and well edited, the graphs are colorfull, accurate and well presented; the comentary is fun and interesting and made me watch and hour of a competition a didn´t knew existed, every detail, the audio, the name graphs with the respective flags, the jumping between action, the presentation of important puzzlers with there backstories.
It´s just so well produced and professional, amazing job.
i did not know there was a puzzle speedrunning community and i think thats kinda so awesome??? it must take a lot of skill to be able to organize all those tiny peices in such a short amount of time but the community looks very sweet, i really love niche hobbies like this being so totally embraced by a community
Last year I watched the live stream and wasn't that interested in your videos once they were released - but this time I specifically waited for your videos. I love your coverage of this event so much! I'm not even a puzzler though I did buy a few puzzles and finished like 2.5 of them since watching your channel lol. I also love how the competition is heating up! I wonder if soon you can only sign up if you qualify from national competitions or if they will expand to a bigger venue to accommodate more people for the qualifiers. your time and effort on these videos is so appreciated karen! i do think that they should ensure fariness for everyone on the difficulty in each group, because you can't really compare such difficult ones to very easy/fast ones.
You did so well to keep your composure, I would have been absolutely crying if I had gotten the wrong puzzle, had a box thrown at my head, not had it opened for me and watched everyone else puzzling around me feeling like I was so behind everyone else. Im crying just watching the happy faces of the finishers

@@KarenPuzzlesI get it, and it could've been worse. In my perception finnish people aren't as sensitive as americans are when it comes to swear words. But I know from one of Emilias videos that she did feel kinda bad about the swearing afterwards. I'm sure she prefers it this way as well. 👍
OMG, throwing the puzzle like that is horrifying! It would have been a disaster if you didn’t catch it, it could have landed on your neighbors table and knocked all her pieces over… and even worst, it is also a big safety hazard, those corners can leave some scars! Grateful it all went well, but if something similar happens in the future, they should really improve the logistics of delivering the puzzles to people!

They’ve been running a large competitive event for several years and should have contingencies for potential issues that could arise - it’s not like this situation was inconceivable. And it goes without saying, but no one needs to catch a box corner in the eye. Really unlucky for them that the chaos involved the person who brings the most attention (eyes) to their event. Huge kudos to you for being able to re-group and persevere as I can only imagine the level of anxiety you experienced. I would have been so rattled.

special shout out to the ppl at the competition, as judges, volunteers, and competitors, who are still masking! esp in a crowded building like that with not great air flow, it's REALLY important. masking culture is even worse in europe than it is in the US, so i'm v impressed that they took their own health/safety & that of others v seriously! they're also almost all very high quality masks, too, so good choices & good work!

Right? I thought that was so thoughtful and responsible❤ Tbh, the whole world could take some notes from east asian countries! I know mask culture was already a thing in the east way before covid, but it was just out of common courtesy for your fellow human to cover your face if you felt a cold or something coming on, or say if you are on a crowded train. I know I started keeping them around the house after covid, they come in handy for a lot of things!

If that had happened to me, it would've hit me square in the face, broken my glasses, and I would've started crying immediately. That you then went on to get a spot in semifinals after all that is even more amazing. 🧩And third, what a cool video overall!
