Tactacam’s website claims better signal but I agree with your video. Another reason I should have bought all XB instead. Better to save the $30 instead of spending it on a ‘micro’ solar panel. An XB with a aftermarket panel seems better.
Maybe in some situations it does provide better signal. I'm certainly not going to refute what Tactacam says. I do know that the camera will appear to perform equally or close to equally with just the hinge side antenna so if put in to a situation where you are left with only one you can put it on that side until a second can be obtained. Also want folks to know which side to connect a high gain antenna for the best performance.
Good to know, I just checked on mine and the main side was broken by a cow. I was going to order a replacement but am leaning towards ordering an aftermarket antenna from amazon so I can have an additional spare. Do you know what the connection end type is? I have seen some aftermarket ones with the male pin and some without. My camera is a couple hours away or I would go check myself.
Not sure if you have taken care of this yet - but most cell antennas all use SMA male and female connections, as you mentioned, but most come with an adapter to cover both options. I actually jumped into a few new Moultrie Edge cams, for a multitude of reasons, and my Tactacam booster antenna works like a charm on one of them in a low creek bed valley with terrible signal. Something else to consider.
I haven't had them together but I have has many say the xb and the sk got better signal than their Gen1. Recently I had an sk and a gen 2.0 on the same t-post and both had equal signal.
@@nolanthibeaux4690 no. The lipo pack in the sk has a bypass circuit built in. It's designed to be charged by 5v trickle charge. Anything much over 5v and it bypasses the pack.
@@herd360 I just ordered a sk. Does the Lithium battery it comes with hold a good charge or does it need constant charge from the solar panel. I am wondering if the small solar panel does a good job.
@@unknownhare3770 the lithium pack will last about as long as a set of AA alkaline batteries by itself. The solar panel on the sk can only keep up with a small amount of daily pics provided it gets full direct sunlight
Thank you, thank you. Exactly what I needed to know.
Great video thanks......

My camera started taking only night vision photos during the day. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Thanks for the great videos.
Sounds like a stuck ir filter. Try smacking the camera to free it up. If that doesn't work I would contact Tactacam to start the warranty process

How hard is it to change the antenna port? I had mine break the threads off so can't screw the antenna on.
I've never changed one.
This could have been a 60 second or less video.
I'm a details kind of guy. Thansk for watching
Ever notice the gen 1 gets better cell signal than the sk? On the same tree. lol

Well, we know what I think of the SK....🤣🤣
SK is a great camera. I love my two
Does it charge the battery
