Question was Steve Ditko's most paranoid superhero, till he got dumped from Charleston comics, and learned that he didn't own yet another character he invented. You'd think he'd have learned his lesson after Spider-Man, but there you go. So he invented Mr. A, who made Question seem as friendly and mainstream as Superman. Worth a google, at least.

O'Neil's era wasn't a conspirscy theorist either. He was a bit of a tough guy who was stuck in an endless loop of failure, and as such an odd but interesting vessel for philosophical reflection. Poor guy didn't win once in the entire run, even when the bad guys were defeated it wasn't by him. The run straight up ends with him giving up and abandoning his city. Both are fascinating characters, but neither are like the DCAU

Very weird, definitely creepy. But I don't think it's a huge leap from moral extremist to paranoid conspiracy theorist. It says a lot that DCAU version was actually more lovable.

Personally, when it comes to the native quality of the characters, irrespective of how well they're done in movies, animation, or comics, if that's your bag, I don't think you can say that one "company" has better characters than the other. It's all about who's been handling them better and in what medium, and that's always a swinging pendulum. The rest is just which characters hold better childhood memories for you personally.
Batman has been shown to have files on all the other superheroes (even his friends) with contingency plans for beating them “just in case” including having samples of stuff that makes them weaker (though Superman gave him the Kryptonite). The Justice League has found this out and they’ve called him out on it.

It seems you can trust the original author, comic book people, and the television crews… but the movie industries and newfound owing companies just don’t care unless there is cash. Like cash won’t just get taken away the day you pass away or something.

The kid was right, but made a poor argument. If you're going to argue that DC is better than Marvel and try to hang it on one superhero, you've got to go with the one true original SUPERhero. They aren't called "Iron"heroes, "Bat"heroes, "Spider"heroes, etc. They're called SUPERheroes, and that all goes back to one character. Extending the argument beyond Superman... Batman is (barely) more realistic than other heroes since he's a regular person who had to train himself to stand among (old school) gods as an equal. Anybody can aspire to be the absolute best they can be. Nobody can aspire to be a superhuman tech genius, a Norse god or a WWII steroid experiment unless they're already that thing. Green Lantern is essentially a space cop with a solid light projector in place of his gun. This gets interesting in two ways... First, if you've got an interesting character and a good writer who understands the specific character, then every different GL can be completely different in how they use the power. John Stewart, as an engineer actually builds functional machinery with the ring. It all goes together so fast that only Flashes can appreciate the fact that everything he creates is functional on a mechanical level. Then you have Kyle Rayner. An artist (like John), but a visual artist, not a technical artist. Kyle is more likely to create constructs so dazzling and beautiful that even his enemies are sometimes awestruck. Then we have Guy Gardner. Somebody who is so full of impulse and provocation that his ring actually sparks to let out his unbridled energy. Finally there's Hal. His constructs aren't anything fancy like Kyle's or functional like John's, but his will is on par with most gods. He might be most famous for making giant green boxing gloves, but with Hal's will behind it, a real boxing glove is more likely to fade into nothingness than one of Hal's. However, I said there were two things that made Green Lanterns interesting. The second thing is also the character, but not the human ones. Like I said, Green Lanterns are essentially space cops, and it's not just Earth, but the entire universe. You've got the aliens everybody is familiar with like Killowog (Giant pink dude with a weird face), Tomar-Re an his successor/nephew Tomar-Tu (bird-headed aliens). You also have aliens from worlds where common earth animals became the dominant life form like Ch'p (Squirrel) and G'nort (Dog). Still not weird enough? How about Mogo? He's an entire planet. Strangely his partner on the GL corps was an alien housefly named bzzd. Want weirder? There's Flodo Span (sentient gas cloud) or Leezle Pon (Sentient strain of small pox). Pretty much any form of life as we know it can be a GL... Actually, scratch that part about "life as we know it". I forgot about Drktzy RRR (a sentient mathematical equation.) (Sorry this GL section got so long, but they really are interesting characters in the hands of competent writers.) Next we have one Mr Iglesias's friend didn't mention... Aquaman. Before anybody laughs about the "talks to fishes" thing, it should be stated that he actually commands all marine life and all things evolved from marine life on a primitive level. He can command fish, but for more advanced things, he can only control their base functions. However, since all things are (according to evolution) evolved from sea life... This means that against any sentient opponent, he might not be able to control them, but he can telepathically attack their brain and give them the worse headache of their life. If they don't pass out, they might want to turn it into a literal "splitting headache" by cutting their own skull open to get rid of the incredible pain in their brain. However, that isn't Aquaman's *TRUE* power. As the supreme ruler of Atlantis and all underwater kingdoms, he rules a territory that covers 2/3 of the Earth. He has access to and the absolute loyalty of some of the most powerful mages in the world. He also has a MASSIVE military. He has (probably) *millions* of soldiers who will immediately march to war at his command, as well as the mightiest navy the world has ever known. (Their air force, however, leaves a LOT to be desired. But then again, he probably has total command over a lot of birds that are in any way aquatic like ducks, geese, seagulls, etc.)

Batman has a lot of money but he doesn't have super powers. He cannot fly he does not have super strength all he's got is a shitload of money like iron Man who also is not got any real superpowers is kind of like The Beverly hillbillies that can shoot a fly off of a tree branch 150 ft away. *Warning: gonna go full nerd here, for comics AND TTRPGs* I recommend finding a good tabletop RPG and trying to stat up someone like Batman or Iron Man. Imma go with GURPS (Generic Universal Roleplaying System) because that's the one I know best (and even then, there's so much I *don't* know about it XD). *Super wealth* happens to be a realistic super power, that is, something people can have IRL but it is still well beyond what is typical for humans. While not explicitly superhuman, *high Attribute scores* can do amazing things, which is why they often cost as much or more than "super powers". Especially when you've got them across the board like Batman. *Don't forget Social Advantages.* For "loner", Batman has a massive posse. Running a Bat-Family focused game? Batman can call in friends from the Justice League. Running a Justice League campaign? Batman can all in the Bat-Family... and that's just two examples. XD *Social Advantages Part 2!* Really part three, as Wealth is also one of these. Anyway, both Batman and Bruce Wayne have miscellaneous connections they can take advantage of. *Genre Advantages!* This is a catchall, because I'd be here all day if I were to enumerate. I said to try building these guys in GURPS. I should have said "comic accurate". Unless you're catching them at the right time in their careers, you'll probably have to give up because they can do so much. By "so much", I don't just mean all the things they do, but all the things they seem to _reliably_ do. Batman's supposed to be one of (if not _the_ ) greatest detective in the DC universe. Him failing so rarely it is a major plot point when it happens *doesn't* really work for tabletop RPGs (or real life). So, in the end, it is a lot easier to take Advantages like Super Luck (lets you dictate the outcome of one die roll that pertains directly to your character, once per session), Ridiculous Luck (every 15 IRL minutes of gameplay, get to reroll a result twice and take the best of the three results), and Serendipity (guaranteed "happy coincidences") to even _approach_ Batman's portrayed level of proficiency. Then there are traits like Gadget and Gadgeteer. The former is basically an unspecific piece of equipment you can retroactively been carrying. It can be taken multiple times, and helps represent Batman's capacity to seemingly always be prepared. The latter is something both Batman and Iron Man possess, to different degrees. It just covers inventing new technology and/or building things faster and/or with less resources than is typically required. Given that *both* characters _refuse_ to stay dead, I'd flat out give them Unkillable 3 *if* they're in a cross genre adventure e.g. they get to behave like they typically do in superhero comics but in stories of a different genre. Unkillable 3 for beings that *don't* _stay_ dead. In an actual superhero campaign, that's just a feature of the setting, but porting them over to something else (pseudomedieval fantasy?) and now it is all: Warrior: "This strange Batman fell protecting the party. We must find his remains and have the cleric raise him and GAH! HIS GHOST IS ALREADY HERE!" Batman: _Explains he's not a ghost and explains how he _*_somehow_*_ didn't die even though he appeared to die. Like an instakill effect sending him backwards in time instead._

I bet Fabian only like the mainstream A-list heroes and not anything lower than that. He probably never heard of characters like the heckler, brother power or Doom Patrol. I know a lot of obscure DC Comic characters and I gravitate to Marvel for Spider-Man.
The kid was right, but made a poor argument. If you're going to argue that DC is better than Marvel and try to hang it on one superhero, you've got to go with the one true original SUPERhero. They aren't called "Iron"heroes, "Bat"heroes, "Spider"heroes, etc. They're called SUPERheroes, and that all goes back to one character.
Extending the argument beyond Superman...
Batman is (barely) more realistic than other heroes since he's a regular person who had to train himself to stand among (old school) gods as an equal. Anybody can aspire to be the absolute best they can be. Nobody can aspire to be a superhuman tech genius, a Norse god or a WWII steroid experiment unless they're already that thing.
Green Lantern is essentially a space cop with a solid light projector in place of his gun. This gets interesting in two ways...
First, if you've got an interesting character and a good writer who understands the specific character, then every different GL can be completely different in how they use the power.
John Stewart, as an engineer actually builds functional machinery with the ring. It all goes together so fast that only Flashes can appreciate the fact that everything he creates is functional on a mechanical level.
Then you have Kyle Rayner. An artist (like John), but a visual artist, not a technical artist. Kyle is more likely to create constructs so dazzling and beautiful that even his enemies are sometimes awestruck.
Then we have Guy Gardner. Somebody who is so full of impulse and provocation that his ring actually sparks to let out his unbridled energy.
Finally there's Hal. His constructs aren't anything fancy like Kyle's or functional like John's, but his will is on par with most gods. He might be most famous for making giant green boxing gloves, but with Hal's will behind it, a real boxing glove is more likely to fade into nothingness than one of Hal's.
However, I said there were two things that made Green Lanterns interesting. The second thing is also the character, but not the human ones. Like I said, Green Lanterns are essentially space cops, and it's not just Earth, but the entire universe. You've got the aliens everybody is familiar with like Killowog (Giant pink dude with a weird face), Tomar-Re an his successor/nephew Tomar-Tu (bird-headed aliens). You also have aliens from worlds where common earth animals became the dominant life form like Ch'p (Squirrel) and G'nort (Dog). Still not weird enough? How about Mogo? He's an entire planet. Strangely his partner on the GL corps was an alien housefly named bzzd. Want weirder? There's Flodo Span (sentient gas cloud) or Leezle Pon (Sentient strain of small pox). Pretty much any form of life as we know it can be a GL... Actually, scratch that part about "life as we know it". I forgot about Drktzy RRR (a sentient mathematical equation.)
(Sorry this GL section got so long, but they really are interesting characters in the hands of competent writers.)
Next we have one Mr Iglesias's friend didn't mention... Aquaman.
Before anybody laughs about the "talks to fishes" thing, it should be stated that he actually commands all marine life and all things evolved from marine life on a primitive level. He can command fish, but for more advanced things, he can only control their base functions. However, since all things are (according to evolution) evolved from sea life...
This means that against any sentient opponent, he might not be able to control them, but he can telepathically attack their brain and give them the worse headache of their life. If they don't pass out, they might want to turn it into a literal "splitting headache" by cutting their own skull open to get rid of the incredible pain in their brain.
However, that isn't Aquaman's *TRUE* power. As the supreme ruler of Atlantis and all underwater kingdoms, he rules a territory that covers 2/3 of the Earth. He has access to and the absolute loyalty of some of the most powerful mages in the world. He also has a MASSIVE military. He has (probably) *millions* of soldiers who will immediately march to war at his command, as well as the mightiest navy the world has ever known. (Their air force, however, leaves a LOT to be desired. But then again, he probably has total command over a lot of birds that are in any way aquatic like ducks, geese, seagulls, etc.)
For me every one has there own options but for me I'm more of a DC fan than marvel.

Batman has a lot of money but he doesn't have super powers. He cannot fly he does not have super strength all he's got is a shitload of money like iron Man who also is not got any real superpowers is kind of like The Beverly hillbillies that can shoot a fly off of a tree branch 150 ft away.

*Warning: gonna go full nerd here, for comics AND TTRPGs*
I recommend finding a good tabletop RPG and trying to stat up someone like Batman or Iron Man. Imma go with GURPS (Generic Universal Roleplaying System) because that's the one I know best (and even then, there's so much I *don't* know about it XD).
*Super wealth* happens to be a realistic super power, that is, something people can have IRL but it is still well beyond what is typical for humans.
While not explicitly superhuman, *high Attribute scores* can do amazing things, which is why they often cost as much or more than "super powers". Especially when you've got them across the board like Batman.
*Don't forget Social Advantages.* For "loner", Batman has a massive posse. Running a Bat-Family focused game? Batman can call in friends from the Justice League. Running a Justice League campaign? Batman can all in the Bat-Family... and that's just two examples. XD
*Social Advantages Part 2!* Really part three, as Wealth is also one of these. Anyway, both Batman and Bruce Wayne have miscellaneous connections they can take advantage of.
*Genre Advantages!* This is a catchall, because I'd be here all day if I were to enumerate. I said to try building these guys in GURPS. I should have said "comic accurate". Unless you're catching them at the right time in their careers, you'll probably have to give up because they can do so much.
By "so much", I don't just mean all the things they do, but all the things they seem to _reliably_ do. Batman's supposed to be one of (if not _the_ ) greatest detective in the DC universe. Him failing so rarely it is a major plot point when it happens *doesn't* really work for tabletop RPGs (or real life). So, in the end, it is a lot easier to take Advantages like Super Luck (lets you dictate the outcome of one die roll that pertains directly to your character, once per session), Ridiculous Luck (every 15 IRL minutes of gameplay, get to reroll a result twice and take the best of the three results), and Serendipity (guaranteed "happy coincidences") to even _approach_ Batman's portrayed level of proficiency.
Then there are traits like Gadget and Gadgeteer. The former is basically an unspecific piece of equipment you can retroactively been carrying. It can be taken multiple times, and helps represent Batman's capacity to seemingly always be prepared. The latter is something both Batman and Iron Man possess, to different degrees. It just covers inventing new technology and/or building things faster and/or with less resources than is typically required. Given that *both* characters _refuse_ to stay dead, I'd flat out give them Unkillable 3 *if* they're in a cross genre adventure e.g. they get to behave like they typically do in superhero comics but in stories of a different genre. Unkillable 3 for beings that *don't* _stay_ dead. In an actual superhero campaign, that's just a feature of the setting, but porting them over to something else (pseudomedieval fantasy?) and now it is all:
Warrior: "This strange Batman fell protecting the party. We must find his remains and have the cleric raise him and GAH! HIS GHOST IS ALREADY HERE!"
Batman: _Explains he's not a ghost and explains how he _*_somehow_*_ didn't die even though he appeared to die. Like an instakill effect sending him backwards in time instead._
