    Super great video... We are headed up for the second half of six tomorrow for a day hike. We did the first half a few weeks back. Thanks for posting!

    5 star spot with a bench!

      Seg 6 is amazing. The bench put the campsite over the top! One of the reasons we now have the Helinox chairs, having a place to sit on trail is so helpful in relaxing the body.

    Georgia Pass, what an incredible place.

      The first place on trail we felt like we were actually getting some distance from Denver and into the high country. A whole new set of ridges to look at.

    I’ve wanted to do segment 6 for a long time. Hope to this summer. Thanks for showing the way.

      Seg 6 is the 1st time on the CT you really feel like you're getting somewhere and seeing what you came for, the high country.

    Really enjoying you’re videos, especially as we are a couple as well. Wow on that mama moose! That was scary. - Chica

      Thank you! Yeah, close encounters with a mama moose and her calf is always a bit unnerving. We seem to have a knack for these chance meetings. How's the hostel coming?

      Wow you know about our hostel, it’s going great! Been busy for last two weeks so going well. We are wanting to do the CT next year early Aug through Sept so your videos are great! Sunsets also really likes your beard. :)

      We love keeping up with the hiking community on TH-cam, especially other couples. There really aren't that many, much less "couples" gear, reviews, experiences and stories. Your story is really amazing to us, inspirational. It must have been one leap of faith. If you have any questions about the CT or need any help on this end let us know, we're in the Denver area.

      Agree with not that many other thruhiking couples. Thank you so much (it was one huge leap of faith, but turned out to be the best thing ever, and we’ve had no regrets!). Wow very kind of you guys, I may hit you up with questions. :)

    Oh wow, you got so close to her too. Did Mia assert her dominance and scare her away??

      Unfortunately, Mia did not continue beyond segment 5 at Kenosha Pass. We had taken her home before continuing on.

    Can you comment on your mt biker experiences? As hiking, are they pretty courteous?

    • @MADHippiesLife
      @MADHippiesLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, our experiences in Colorado with mountain bikers is good, Colorado Trail included. They announce themselves before getting to you and will let you know which side they intend to pass on. As much, many will let you know as they pass that there are others coming. Sure, there is the occasional one who isn't courteous, probably inexperienced, but they are few. We generally just step off trail and let them pass unless the trail is wide enough.

      @@MADHippiesLife I was afraid with dog on leash who interactions would go with bike coming from behind and surprising us. I hope to do 4,5,and 6 this year.

      @MADHippiesLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gwrulzmylife that definitely adds another element, though the same still applies as said above. Our dogs either move off trail with us or we pick them up (chihuahuas!). After a few times you just get into the habit and it becomes a learned response.

    where's Mia?

    • @MADHippiesLife
      @MADHippiesLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was so horribly hot on the first several segments that we made the choice to take her home before going any further. It was a bummer and a tough choice, but the right decision to keep her well and safe.

      @@MADHippiesLife I understand. I have a pug. We used to take him on hikes around Boulder but he's 12 now and he just can't handle the heat anymore. Speaking of heat I've been reading some of the posts on FB of the people dropping like flies this year on the first few segments. People really underestimate the sun here.
