    Is removing the wheel from the drum a more effective method for wheel maintenance? I pulled my rear wheel for the first time for a new set of spokes and truing and took the drum and mechanism out with it. Would it be beneficial to mount the drum first when i put the wheel back on the bike?

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know which bike or model you have, but generally, Harley recommends removing the wheel from the brake drum. Look it up in the service manual. On a rear factory rigid, what you suggest is way difficult. This is what we're working on.

    P.S. Mike, I had those tires on my 82 FXRS Shovel Head. They were nice in the rain. Glad I had then on. I always put 3 coats of good wax inside those wire rims win they're new before mounting inner tubes & tires. Also tall & fat rubber on both ends = a great handling and smooth rider. You know, on my own Panhead (Babydoll), we turned my front drum on a lathe and did everything up as it should be. The front brake is certainly not as good as a modern disc, but, it's quite good and I ride the mountains a lot.

    Howdy Mike! I've got an update to share with ya my friend. A few months ago, if you recall, you gave me some MUCH-APPRECIATED advice regarding the starter clutch on the old school custom'76 FXE I built. Good News is my scooters back together & she's lookin' & soundin' great!! Bad News is it's February and I live in North East Wyoming....I posted a short video of my bike here on TH-cam (mainly to share it with you.) Idk how to insert a link to it into my comment here, so when ya get a min, just search "FXE Basket Case" and she should pop right up. Thanks Again & Best Wishes My Friend!!!

    Mike may I ask what size cinch ear clamps you use on your oil line? I measured how I was told by the supplier and went with a clamp size (17.5mm) I was in the middle of the range and the hose is tight on the fitting but still turns.

      I think I figured out the problem after knowing you were using 17mm, it's to due with the condition of the hose. I noticed how stretched out the hose was that was on it compared to a new piece so I tried the piece with another clamp and it's good to go. Thanks for your time.

    Hey Mike...Really enjoy your calmness in your videos and the content. You stated that the tire you have installed is fantastic for hardtails for comfort. What is the size and brand of tire and also pressure that is run? Thanks again.

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I explained why it is still produced. It is a Continental K112. It is produced as an MT90 x 16. It is also produced as a 5.10 x 16. I run ery low pressure and I weigh very little. You'll have to experiment for yourself. Also, this is not a real high mileage tire.

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That tire is made to run in one direction one way, or, flip it over for the other way. It's beautifully labeled. They also make a tire in 18 and 19" to match for front. It is referred to as a "Conti Twin."
