    What is more likely is that some upstart young beardling has in fact tried to invent some newfangled contraption that is comparable to a machine gun but the longbeards are going to spend the next 100 years grumbling about it before it ever sees use.

    There is one gyrocopter with a machine gun. The engineer who made it was exiled but then returned to the hold of Zhufbar. It is his personal gyrocopter with steam machine guns, and they don't misfire like the shaven ones. His name is Rimbal Wanazaki, and is a little bit crazy due to his love of drinking engine oil used in his gyrocopter.

    I look so much forward to playing the Dwarves in this game... they are my favorite race and should also fit perfectly with my personal playstyle. In any game that even allows such a thing, I tend to be a bit of a turtler and also tend to favour a backbone of solid defensive units backed up by massive ranged firepower. Mobility and clever hit-and-run tactics and other fanciful Elven concepts have never been my strength. Add to that the fact I am decidedly a quality-over-quantity type of person and typically enjoy drinking ale and scottish or irish whisky... Yeah, Dwarves!

    • @dnw009
      @dnw009 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Jørgen A Kinda like the opposite of arch who is a skaven fan. Who likely favors quantity over quality and using hit and run with alot of flanking. I do wish they include skaven if only to see the war between dwarves and skaven.

    • @Arbaaltheundefeated
      @Arbaaltheundefeated 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I too really hope for Skaven to be added, mainly so my Dwarves can fight them! Also Elves, especially High Elves... so many grudges that need settling with some Dwarf axe to Elf skull. I kind of expect an Elf-themed expansion to be the first they make, simply because, well, they're Elves, lots of people love Elves of various kinds, Ratmen not so much sadly.
      Skaven may well be more popular among Warhammer fans but obviously as a Total War title many if not most potential customers will not have much of a connection with the Warhammer lore, so making sure Humans, Orcs, Dwarves and Elves are all in the game as quickly as possible will probably be a priority I think, just to have the full spectrum of mainstream fantasy races.

  • @Arbaaltheundefeated

    I thought the "clattergun" that can be mounted on the Gyrobomber was a machinegun though? In such a case they have developed them, hehe. Probably the grumpy old bastards simply haven't been satisfied with any hand-held versions that the more rebellious members of the Engineering Guild have no doubt tried to introduce several times already. Early-technology machineguns would after all be inaccurate and unreliable compared to other weapons (as is certainly the case with the Ratling Gun) and that simply would not do for the Dwarves. An inaccurate weapon? Mmmm... maybe. But UNRELIABLE? Oh hell no, Dwarves won't even consider using something that hasn't held up flawlessly to anywhere from decades to centuries of thorough testing. I think it said in one of the recent Dwarf army books that they don't even consider taking a simple cannon into actual battle until it's been through a century or so of trials to rule out any chance of imperfection.

  • @CantusTropus

    • @CantusTropus
      @CantusTropus 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hawkorxen Better be like that. Dwarves don't really hold much territory outside of the Karaks, so taking the Karaks out of action takes a huge amount of their population out. I'm guessing that their land will be their weakness they have strong and immobile fortresses gaurd in a smaller amount of land than say the empire. Personally I'm just glad they will probobly have the underground battles. Not sure how well that would work for like multi level stuff or tight spaces (that is what ironbreakers are designed for afterall) but I'm hoping they figure siege battles out

    Oh arch, take your ratling gun unreliable trash somewhere else, the dwarf don't need machine guns. They invented something better. The Goblin Hewer. A machine gun that fires axes! All credit goes to the mad genius of Malakai Makaisson.
    oh and on the subject of machine guns, what are the repeating handguns then arch? Granted, if the ratling gun is a machine gun, these are assault rifles, but the point stands. Problem with the dwarfs is that both these things are still awaiting their moronic engineer guild aproval (while the humans are using the repeater guns to great effect, but still in small numbers due to limited production capability, something the dwarfs would not have an issue with if they decide to use them).
    Oh and dwarf still have attack helicopters. Skaven are still grounded.

    • @Buzzy_Bland
      @Buzzy_Bland 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      93Avenger93 93Avenger93 There is a very significant difference between what is essentially a Gatling gun on warpstone steroids, and a muzzle-loaded handgun that can fire a few times before needing each barrel to be reloaded individually.
      And as for the goblin hewer... however far that thing can hurl an axe, I can guarantee that a jezzail can beat that by a serious margin.
      And then there's just the fact that Arch is poking fun.

    So in the actual game they gave Miners Vanguard Deployment (can be deployed anywhere except for enemies' deploy zones), a trait usually restricted to light cavalry (Hexwraiths, undead dire wolves, some of the Empire shooty horses and I think that's it, unless the Greenskins and Chaos have been avoiding using it ever, IDK about Bretonians, they probably have a Vanguard horse unit, probably mounted Yeomen if those are a unit) but I've never used it- simply because part of the advantage of those vanguard units is that they don't get stuck on enemies easily, while miners do, meaning that they'll usually just get ganked by whatever they try to ambush- and they're less good in melee than most other Dwarf melee units. I mostly just used the blasting charges to cover my flanks to protect my ranged units, while other units tanked up front.

  • @gourardk7140
    @gourardk7140 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice material. Thanks for making it. My few cents to your concerns about balances issues:
    1.Quarrellers (hope i spell it right) and Thunderers - limiting it to 80 per unit would be enough, less than that and they would not do too much damage with they ranged attack. In return they should be less effective in melee by having 2-3 less attack (since they train with multiple weapons and have less time to specialize) and slightly weaker armor for example chainmail instead of heavy chainmail. Another thing is the range - Thunderers should have slightly less range than other ranged units.
    2. Armor in general (and a bit economy) - I'd like to see system similar to that in Medieval 2. This way you'd need high level buildings to upgrade already significant dwarfish armor. Additionally first level smith wouldn't upgrade any armor (and might be even required to recruit any units) but would add to incone of the settlement (as well all further levels). But Dwarfs would be limited to only 1st levels farms.
    3. Iron Breakers, Hammerers - The special units could be limited in a way you described in Empire army video with Pistoliers ond Outriders. For some number (2-4) of Longbeards (or Warriors) you could recruit 1 unit of Iron Breakers. The same with Hammerers but it could be 2-3 units for every general of your army. And most special infantry units could be limited to 80 men per unit (Slayers could be countered by ranged units since they don't have any armor).
    4. General army size (this could apply to all armies) - Apart from money all units should require some amount of population to recruit. And while some races (Orks or Skaven) would have plenty of population to spare (through some special buildings) Dwarfs would be severly limited in population increase - like i said previously limit them to only 1st level farms. This way other armies could easily and quickly outnumerber Dwarfs.
    5. Engineers - one unit I'd really like to see. 30 models strong, armed with some light firearms (good accuracy, moderate-short range, moderate-good reload, medium strength) but with special abilities for siege battles like giving a lot points buliding siege equipment, explosive barrels to blow up gates or make trenches which infantry can use to move closer to walls.
    Wow that ended up a bit long. Anyway thx for your hard work and please keep them coming. :)

They're making a Total War game that happens to be based in the fantasy world of Warhammer. For some, this will be a i distinction without a difference.

      Philip Boardman what they make up with power, they lack with speed and numbers.......so most likely they will make them very few in numbers and expensive/time consuming to create or maintain......so this way they don't have to nerf them....

    • @acedeuce4709
      @acedeuce4709 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** especially considering once they leave the Karak they become vulnerable like you said, in that they are painfully immobile. I imagine a few stacks of green-skins continuously sapping numbers will not allow them to travel far in any kind of safety, or an undead surprise attack from the rear could even be problematic.

    • @Arbaaltheundefeated
      @Arbaaltheundefeated 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Philip Boardman I doubt they will be overpowered in multiplayer. But it seems quite likely they may be the most powerful race in single-player (in the player's hands) simply because traditionally siege weapons have always been overpowered in Total War games, and the Dwarves are the masters of siege weaponry.
      Of course, now that we're adding monsters and magic to the mix that may no longer be the case.

      Arch Warhammer Can't really agree on Dwarfs defeating the point of pole weapons,
      Even the heaviest of close melee infantry will be vulnerable to Cavalry. Not to mention the fact that being Dwarfs, I'd imagine that reach is not in their favour... All the more reasons for Poleweapons being a good plan...

    3. Slayer command

    • @tjcoleman7439
      @tjcoleman7439 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its possible but I doubt it, I'm guessing they would stick to the same pattern and just make them super badasses on their own, and if so I would say Hammerers and possibly Slayers. Ironbreakers were super elite but not usually like an actual generals bodyguard they were more used for defending tunnels and occasionally being the backbone of a super elite army. Also knowing CA I doubt they would offer two Top tier heavy melee infantry that you would get at basically the exact same time just not their style.

    • @tjcoleman7439
      @tjcoleman7439 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh also there was a regular lord in charge of the Greenskin army at Ambush at Thundering Falls and he didn't have a bodyguard but I guess its still possible to have the dwarfs have them.

    • @doomjoon_zmajich
      @doomjoon_zmajich 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, but handguns were even larger.

    • @RocketHarry865
      @RocketHarry865 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doomjoon for the empire handguns to powerful enough to harm the many types of enemies the Empire has to face, yet is light enough to carry it around and shoulder fire it without a prod means that it would have to have a cailber no bigger than 0.75 inches. Anything larger without a prod is going shatter your shoulder bones and will be too heavy to shoulder it

    • @doomjoon_zmajich
      @doomjoon_zmajich 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam Baker Oh, I thought that they didn't aim them from a shoulder mount. In that case yeah, being bigger than a musket would be too big.
      But now that I look at the plastic models, these things are in fact shoulder mounted, and are ridiculously large. So yeah, it wouldn't make much sense unless if they were made smaller, or not shoulder mounted.

      namekman01 Dwarfs in TWW right now are not the worst, but definitely not the best faction in competitive multi-player. They have only armor and relatively strong footmen with some strong General and Hero choices, and their artillery is OK. If you have the King and the Warlord DLC they are significantly better however. They are better than they are a month ago, however, at the time kg the OPs comment

      +Daki55555 Heavy and shock cavallery, cannon fire, magic, monsters (except slayers), etc. But they aren't as OP in game as in this video, if you check out the battle between orc/goblins and the dwarv army in CA's video. The playing developer almost lost.

    • @tjcoleman7439
      @tjcoleman7439 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They aren't that bad you just have to be smart about it. They don't have spears so Cavalry totally is an option. They don't have any proper magic so that can work. Monsters can do major damage except when countered by slayers and even then slayers are fragile as fuck so litterally anything else will demolish them. Also they are super slow so if you can get around their main line you can cause havock. Dwarves main killing power comes from their artillery so getting at that makes them a fish out of water. Granted an incredibly tough fish but it'll suffocate eventually.
