Let me clear this up. This Tundra is 2wd yes the trd offroad trim comes in 2wd. If it was 4x4 it would have the badge on the right side of the tailgate the earlier yes then it moved to the left on the later years.

He's not doing well by stoping the car by brakes on loose sand . when you use brakes on loose sand you sank yor tires down . He should let rhe car stops by itself to stay abov the sand then go forward and backward to unloose the sand and make a solid way to get momentom and get out safely. Here we can see that the sand was not that loose so he managed somehow to get out . And for who wants to argue my methods I want to say I've drive all kind of double differential cars at sand desert of empty quarter and the Arabic deserts for decades.

They do. Not everyone goes off road or lives in a snowy climate. If youre using it as a daily or work truck, 4WD is just an extra unnecessary cost. Not to mention 2WD has a slightly higher payload and tow capacity because you dont have the added weight of the 4WD components.
I have a 2WD Tundra with over 300k miles. I now have a 4WD Tacoma and realize I actually don't need 4WD and may trade it in for a simple access cab 2WD Tacoma.
The only thing that probably got him out is that LSD, and the worst traction control on just about any vehicle. (And what’s worse, is that, on that year, if you disable traction and or stability control, the truck disables the eLSD (electronic limited slip differential) so you gotta pick your battles, traction control that’s not consistent but an active LSD, or less traction control and 1 wheel drive, plus traction control and stability control disabled still intervenes on that truck somewhat, to disable it is not truly disabling it, it can be very annoying when you need wheel speed and that eLSD and Toyota is giving you the option of one or the other)

No amount of skill will overcome the fact that a Rwd aluminum pickup with an open diff isnt gonna do shit in the snow. Honestly 2wd pickups should not even exzist. If you cannot afford another 3k for the 4wd you can't afford it. In Maine 4wd trucks were over 10k more than the 2wd and the used market were I got mine was even worse.
