I'm a native Spanish speaker and I'm so impressed with your accent! I saw a comment on another video, someone said your accent sounds weird or something...man, your accent is very good! It's almost perfect! You sound like a native speaker to me. Seriously, keep it up!
Btw, I watch your videos because I help my American friends with their Spanish and I find your videos very useful :) Saludos desde México!

There are a few components to learning Spanish online . One place I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Fergs spanish blueprint (look for it on google) definately the best remedy that I've found. Look at all the incredible info .

I'm a French native in the US trying to finally get fluent in Spanish. I'm listening to your conversations and soliloquies while I do chores around the house. I understand most everything, I love Cynthia's voice! and both your accents are easy to follow.
I've chuckled today during the green juice anecdote (I thought it was going to come out the other way but it was good enough to learn useful vocabulary). I don't know if you two just wing it but I must say the way you tell your anecdotes is very enticing and make me feel like I'm there with you.
    Awesome relationship you two have!
I'm so glad I came across your channel

¡Hola Gordon y Cynthia!

By the way, Cynthia, you crack me up! I love how you call Gordon out. Keeping it honest. .. ;)

Gordon, please tell me what you think about the following. I cut and paste chapters of an English Bible version onto a word document and then I edit them so that they are very easy for me to understand. I do this by changing the sentence structure and some words to fit the way I speak. Then I use Google to translate this into Spanish. Then I verbally correct mistakes as I read it to a native speaker on Skype and he corrects any errors that I do not catch. We also discuss some of the things I read because we are both very interested in the Bible. As a matter of fact, he is my student.
I really enjoy doing this because it gives both him and me a clear understanding of the Bible. I also enjoy it because I love Spanish. Do you think that this helps improve my Spanish? My level is at the border of intermediate and high intermediate. Thank you in advance.

    • @LightSpeedSpanishChannel
      @LightSpeedSpanishChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

James:I'm sure that it will help to improve your Spanish. What i would suggest, if you aren't already doing it, is to cover a passage and then have a discussion, in Spanish about what that passage means to you, how it might affect your life, how you could say the same thing with different words. That will then really expand your vocabulary and speaking skills. I hope that helps.

    Hola!
Awesome stuff. Thanks for speaking slow. My girlfriend is from Spain and as a surprise to her I am studying Spanish for a big unveil in a few months. Any suggestions on improving quickly would be appreciated! I can understand most, I was fluent in Portuguese, but now its hidden somewhere in my mind haha, but my ability to speak spanish is lacking (and roll my grrrrr's) Thanks for the videos!

+Johnny Saye Hey, Johnny. Thanks for the message. Our tip to you would be to aim for total immersion. Read, write, listen and speak Spanish every day. Read out loud. Only listen to Spanish music. Only read Spanish books. Watch Spanish films with Spanish audio and subtitles in Spanish. Book yourself on a two week immersion course in a local Spanish speaking country. Throw yourself into it. It's the only way top do it quickly.:)

Great vids and lessons ..however I still panic and find understanding really difficult when I'm spoken to . I've gone as far as intermediate level at the local college over 18mths ...its so frustrating as I know how to speak and have been told my accent is great . Even watching tv , I probably know most words I hear but understanding and making sense of whats being said seems almost impossible., any tips would be much appreciated.

Mike Jones Hopefully you're still around, I know you made this comment 5 months ago. Instead of trying to decipher a full sentence in your head, split it into the induvidual phrases.
If I write like this for the rest of my reply to you and don't include any commas and you read all of this like a robot that is what your brain processes when you try to translate a full sentence it's hard right?
Add commas to that sentence above. Easier to read, right? I would say so. When you translate something you need to split the sentence up into its parts, and when you do this and listen to each individual part, you fill find words/phrases that you understand. It's like looking at an incomplete puzzle - you have some pieces of the sentence you will absolutely understand, and others you don't. You now have to guess at the full picture. You will get better with time but begin with slow passages so that you can get used to how to break up sentences.

I love these conversations you provide for us! Gordon does a very good job at pronouncing vocabulary slowly and thoroughly, however Cynthia speaks way too fast that an beginning/intermediate speaker like me can get confused. Haha good job though.

NonyaBusiness! Exactly right! There seems to be a trend where learners almost blame the native speaker for their lack of understanding. It's bizarre! I've seen it with people learning English too, they act as if the speaker is deliberately making it hard, when in fact that couldn't be further from the truth. Cynthia actually does a very good job of not speaking at full speed. It's not easy to do that if you're a native speaker. That said, I think even beginners need to be listening to natural speed conversations, at least some of the time.

Just embrace your accent. Not going anywhere. Besides nothing wrong with being an English speaker. Everyone else in the world has an accent speaking English.. why the fuck are English speakers so worried about sounding native whatever they want to learn. Enjoy the language.
