What this gentleman is saying is true. Even as a Bengali when I went out of Bengal to study engineering, some people would refer to us as ‘Bangalis’, in a derogatory tone; that tribalism always existed among some Indians. And we Bengalis also had slangs for Hindi speaking people as well. It is after all a huge country but things have changed for better in the past couple of decades. As Babasaheb said , ‘ We are all Indians firstly and lastly’

    • @Shivam-H

I mean, India as a country is only 75 years old.
But Empires and people and their languages and cultures have existed for at least 2500 years.
For example, I will always be Kannadiga first then Indian.
For me Kannada is my main identity, India is a more recent identity.
Doesn't mean I'm not proud of being Indian.

    • @statickk14

@@chinanumbawun111 India was never a nation state , Nation state is a western concept. We were always a Cultural civilization, we always knew the extent of our geography. Sub nationalism is very important as well, we all need to have our distinct identity but above being Indian has to be the first identity… else our nation will disintegrate in near future.

Educating people of various parts of the country about different races and languages in other parts who are natural inhabitants of those regions is most important thing. I am a south Indian and I understand your feelings as when I could not speak hindi when I visited delhi for first time I felt the same thing. Hey Frenchy,
Little correction about 'acha/achi'. It should not be said as that guy had told you. Here, in the case of Khushboo, we should say "Khushboo acchi hai!" because in Hindi, even things have gender (either treated as male or female). Here, 'khushboo' is the subject of the sentence and this word is a female sounding word so it should be said as you had thought of how it would be. It doesn't depend on who is saying it as it only depends on the subject.
People from NE India often get confused with such grammar but most people from NE talks like that guy but in reality, or grammatically, it should be as how I've mentioned above because when you go to North India, people will again try to correct you and you will get even more confused.
Hehe! Hindi is Unique and interesting to learn. I'm also from NE India.
Thank you for exploring Northeast India.

North East India is a gem! If foreign tourists visited this amazing beautiful region with honest and nice tribal people they would prefer it to the loud tacky north indian Hindi region.
North East India & South India are just wonderful! The Govt should promote these 2 regions over the same old mughal and rajasthani sites.

Of course you are an Indian in my college we have guys from all over of north India yes we do have some barriers but still we drink the same and have same kind of problems and opportunities too
Just think your self as an Indian or at least north Indian but if asked you will say you are from "north east"
Try to get to know other kind of people give all of us Indians a chance I'm sure we will somehow understand and respect you on your own terms.

I've heard this "Not allowed / Stopped at Taj Mahal" story with so many North east people... we should find who these guys at Taj Mahal were that were stopping all these people from North East and make them live the rest of their life in Arunachal or Manipur.
Also, I should mention I am from Hyderabad(Telanagana now) and when I was working for TCS in Kolkata 2006 to 2010 period... the older gen bongs used to ask if I am from Madras... and I still call them bongs.... so people in our nation need not be offended.. we should just accept it as happenstance.

I hope things are getting better in Arunachal Pradesh very rapidly now. I hope the whole Far East region of India gets more connected with the rest of India, in a physical infrastructure sense, but also in the feeling of oneness. I apologize for the discrimination he faced. I hope that has significantly dropped for your generation. These discriminations arose out of ignorance and uneducatedness. Whatever the reason, it is inexcusable. I say this as a person of North India that it is very easy to criticize someone, but it is very difficult to the shortcomings of one's self. We need to re-narrate our history and give due importance to the under-represented regions of Bharat. That way we would be more cognizant. Hoping for a brighter and happier future for the whole Bharat!
