- Captain Tom Moore, is aiming to walk a hundred lengths of the back garden(which is 25m in length) before he is 100 years old at the end of the month.
So get behind Tom as he does 10 laps a day!
A bio on Tom:
Tom was born and brought up in Keighley, Yorkshire. He went to Keighley Grammar School and later completed an apprenticeship as a Civil Engineer. Tom went onto being enlisted in 8 DWR (145 RAC) at the beginning of the war, and in 1940 was selected for Officer training. He was later posted to 9DWR in India, and served and fought on the Arakan, went to Regiment to Sumatra after the Japanese surrender and returned to be Instructor at Armoured Fighting Vehicle School in Bovington.

Tom, thank you for your service to the people of the UK. You and your generation had to fight for a peaceful Europe and helped re-building it afterward under great sacrifices. Even though I don't live in the UK, you inspired me to donate to the NHS. EU or not EU, Englishmen will always be part of the European family in my mind and I am happy to contribute the little I can to help GB through the crisis. Keep up the good work, happy birthday and stay safe!

Until recently I cared for a 103 Gentleman who also served in the Yorkshire regiment in WW2. I can imagine how he would have felt seeing your achievement and would have wanted to contribute, so will on both our behalves.

Tom amazing achievement thank you. Wondering if you knew my grandfather William Henry Blackburn. He was in Royal Engineers and served mainly in India around the same time as you and was involved in The River Kwai in some capacity. he was also an artist and drew alot of the old advertisements during the time.
