I became interested in building simple gravity powered custom Hot Wheels tracks as a way of sharing quality playtime with my grandson who is just now entering the age group for these types of toys.
It is my intention to avoid battery powered boosters in my track layouts, though rubber band powered Loop Kickers are a possibility if I ever decide to spend more money on this. For now however, I have just shy of $90 invested in 3 purchases of used lots of track and a few new cars.
There is so much inventory of used track and track kits for sale at any given time that it does not require a great deal of money to get started building simple custom tracks from Hot Wheels junk.
