I was a very disappointed mama on Christmas morning to find the same - a used set with NO connecting pieces. Going to gather supplies, tools, and get started on this right away. Thank you for "saving Christmas"! 😂👍👍

    Genius!
My two oldest kids 2 and 4 have been breaking the hot wheel track connectors like it’s going out of style. Thanks for the video idea. I will use this. 👍

Thank you. I chose a cheap basket from the dollar store more for the low cost than how easy it was to work with but there are a lot of cheap options out there.

    Glad I found this video!
It came up with me because, besides being a passionate 'hot-wheeler' from way back, I also like to go to my little towns favourite coffee shop to socialize. The owner/ manager said to me the other day " I'm not a 'joiner' "...
I quipped that 'joiner' is a current popular word, but when I was a kid, it only had one meaning I was aware of and that was for hot wheels track.
Aside from the whole world history of furniture making and woodworking, which I wasn't too clued into back then, joiners meant hot wheels track connectors.
So of course being a disciple of TH-cam, I went searching, found you, and what a delightful d.i.y. little video. Brings back lots of sweet memories. I remember doing scaled up renderings of my hot wheels cars on Bristol board for a school transport project. I think it was the Firebird. Maybe the Camaro. Same thing?
Anyway thanks. Best wishes from Canada.

You are not cheap. You are practical intelligent and no sucker. I've been buying my grandson Hot Wheels tracks for a month and I have more track than I have connectors and I was struggling to figure out how to solve that problem without spending stupid money on stupid products. I watched your video and the basket is exactly what I needed to look for. I was struggling to find something in at home Depot and the flooring. Plumbing electrical lumber section and was really struggling with that. Using the basket will solve a lot of problems. Oh thank you. Hey buddy, thank you

I had visions of you walking through the store with your calipers measuring box thicknesses. :)

Just get the handle centers from the milk jugs at the grocery store. Mayfield centers and the clear jugs the same shape always fit great. Been doing it since I was 8 so for almost 30 years now and never had a problem. And it is free!

I'll keep that in mind for when they stop selling milk in bags in my country and Mayfield Dairy products are exported to Canada.

I am going to go try this with things I have around the house. Thanks for using good measurements and showing your process. Time to scrap all the plastic around the house then head to the dollar store! By the way if you buy the $2.99 4 pack of track you can get 4 connectors that way. Not as in expensive as your method but still better than eBay and Amazon. The only problem is you keep ending up with more tracks too.

I was shocked to learn that Matell discontinued their pack of 10 connectors. Some bean counter probably realized that many people will buy new sets. Doesn't everyone end up with more track than connectors?! I thought that it would be trivial to buy them on Amazon but only 3D printed ones available that some reviews say are brittle, break and cut hands, so no good for me. I saw one DIY using cut up gift cards. Will see what this video suggests.
