    Thanks for making the video. I’ve been buying my pups their chicken jerky from Chinamart for years at about $25 for a three pound bag. But now I can make them myself for around $7 for 3.75 pounds. Take care 🙂

    Subscribed my dogs are my family also and I came here to learn how to make them treats myself bc you never know what the store bought treats have in them nowadays and I am too scared to feed them store bought dog treats, so thank you for this also I would love to see the end result next time you do this 😊 I recently just bought a dehydrator so I will be making this tonight thank you 😊

    Thank you! Made them for my dawg! Much cheaper and healthier than store-bought. A couple of bucks a pound, compared with $10 or more pre-packed, and you know what's in them. I bought a Presto dehydrator from Amazon for about $30, and it worked a treat first time out. Thanks for showing us how. Oh, and please make some of those chocolate cookies for your granddaughter, she's adorable!

    Just a thought...if the chicken breasts are still slightly frozen, they're easier to cut.

  • @OZARKMEL
    @OZARKMEL 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    If you freeze them first they are much easier to cut thinner and they take less time in the dehydrator.....good video, thank you!

    Just Bought a fairly inexpensive dehyrated from Amazon to make chicken, beef, and sweet potato jerky for our two dogs. Question: Can I put them all in to cook at the same time, (different rows, and not touching?) Going to try just one today. Very excited to be doing this as I know it will be healthier for them. Thanking you in advance, Carol

    Cutting the slices kinda thick like you do is my idea as well. One lady on youtube cuts them really thin and they come out very crunchy. Yours prob come out somewhat chewy right?
    Thanks

    What kind of Nesco dehydrator do you use? I went to Amazon and can’t figure out what one to get. I don’t think I need a monster size but I do want to make enough treats to last a while. The size you have seems reasonable. Did you get the fruit rolls inserts too?

    I was nervous about doing this.. My dogs have developed an issue that really restricts what they can eat..When I started looking for healthy treats I was floored that even the "natural" treats were full of chemicals and things like gelatin..So I decided to make treats myself. Thanks for showing this! I noticed you don't cook the chicken first. Lots of directions say to do that but I wasn't really sure why. Seems like it works fine for you!! Thanks again

    How long to dehydrate? How would we know if the process is complete? Will the dehyrdrator beep in the end or something?

  • @lindapitti43

    How long can you store the chicken jerky? Also we’re would be best place to store to keep them fresh?

    • @jennifercline6866
      @jennifercline6866 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I make them all the time for my dog and friends pups. After dried I keep them in mason jars. So much cheaper and healthier than store bought, all the extra bits go to small pot to make broth and cooked chicken bits for salad.

    I also make treats, for chicken breasts I take all the extra bits and toss in a small pot with water to cook & get broth. Win win. Today chicken heart & breast to dry.

    The question I have is dehydrated does not mean it is cooked, so is it safe to feed my puppy uncooked chicken?

    • @cassandramiranda721
      @cassandramiranda721 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corinne Brown make sure you get it from Whole Foods they’re Oseas likely to have salmonella and dogs don’t really tend to get it but the slit chance they do getting it at whole food lessens the chance. Feeding raw is actually the best thing you can do.

    • @lindseynobody4865
      @lindseynobody4865 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't let anybody tell you you should go to Whole Foods for chicken. It isn't any safer and would cost you more than just buying dehydrated chicken treats. Preparing chicken safely is the key, not getting it from any special store. Dehydrators do use a combination of heat and air flow to dry things so as the chicken is drying (which help preserve it) the possible growth of bacteria is also being prevented by the heat. I'm not sure if it's technically cooked but it is safe.

      No need to cook but I would wash and pat dry with paper towel than cut and put in dehydrator.

    When you can buy treats so cheap you know they aren't using anything healthy. Even the products made in the US are made with Chinese unknowns. Costco has 3 lbs of beef jerky for less than 10 bucks. I think the first ingredient was wheat or soy flour. What's that all about. Not for me or my dog. i can eat my homemade dog treats.
