An adjustment of the engage rod doesn't require removal of the deck. The upper/forward end of the rod comes off with the removal of the spring pin -- and the locknut can be easily loosened. Dropping the deck to its lowest position makes for plenty of room. The twisted belt is bad news. By jumping off, it was warning you.
Are you able to assist as to why my mower wont go any faster than a crawl. I have the same with the lever you just push for speed but the control will only move an inch or so. same in reverse
It's a safety button that you need to depress when you use the mower in reverse. With the blades engaged, if you try to reverse without pushing the button, the engine will cut out. If yours works without needing to push the button, then someone has disconnected the switch. Hope that helps.
hello, i have the same lawnmower ... but with one problem. the drive belt broke while driving, i replaced the belt, but the lawnmower no longer drives forwards or backwards. Do you have an idea what is going on?
A couple of things come to mind. The first, check the rod at the back of the mower (near where you would connect a trailer) is not pulled out. This disengages the drive unit. It needs to be pushed in. The second would be to check if the new belt has tension on it. Maybe the new belt is too long. That's all I can think of, hope you can sort it out.
I have found a record that said #A93 for the cutting deck belt. I think when I bought it from a John Deere dealer, they checked and it was a number out. Sorry I can't be 100% sure though as it was a year or two ago now.

That tricky pin in the back always has to be checked .@@countrylifeonthecoast4167
Hello! May I ask what model number the belt is? You’d mentioned you’d replaced it a while
Back. Thanks!

@@countrylifeonthecoast4167 The deck belt is 92 inches.
Hi there. It's a 92.5 inch belt, 1/2 inch wide, standard V type.
eBay has it for about $12, and it can be found here:
www.ebay.com/itm/293271924191
What's the size of the deck belt?
is it possible to get a new deck shell for this model of mower
I'm not sure but I don't think so as they are an older model now.
Hi do you know the size of the drive belt I believe I have the exact same mower
Hi I bought GX10064 from my John Deere dealer. The specs online show it has an effective length of 94.488 IN.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
