The wall has turned out great. I’d have never have thought about the battens showing through but your right. How annoying would it be seeing a batten between the boards. The blue ceiling has also turned out well. When I saw the paint initially I thought “Oh dear”😂
I'm just amazed by the amount of energy and commitment you both give to the farm and to the cabin build. And indeed to all the other projects that you have undertaken. Remarkable.
Very nice looking wall! I had similar in parents farmhouse, from softwood, no stains no lacquers, just plain wood and with woodburner, will look absolutely top ! Just what is needed for country build👍👍👍
Think I would've shiplapped those, but that's just me. I think you did the right thing by going with the smooth side. I've used rough lumber in a few small projects and it seems to attract dust like you wouldn't believe.
I would really recommend some sort of finish on that cedar - mainly to protect it from the sun. It will start turning gray and cracking like outdoor cedar fences do. There are thin finishes meant for this which shouldn't distract from the smell or feel. It would be a real shame for that pretty wall to turn gray on you. Just my two cents :)
Looks great. Love the video. Learned more about those planers that I didn't know before, so thanks for that. I didn't hear if you considered putting a shiplap on those planks or not, to account for the future shrinkage.
Great video. Love watching the journey you are on. Just wondering about all that timber inside a building? I used scaffold boards horizontally for a similar effect in an extension we did. Building control insisted that I use a fire proof treatment on them before they would sign off.

I don’t think it would have worked if it was just the white walls, but the cedar all just makes all the difference
Brilliant great to watch as a carpenter and general contractor your as good as some of the best and a grafter definitely
different when you do a job for yourself and family, most UK tradesmen are dogshit and useless
Looks beautiful
Thank you so much
I love it how your semi temporary home is going to be better than most peoples houses, all the attention to detail you've put into it is astonishing 👍
Thanks lots of practising going on and we will be here for a few years so worth making the effort. 👍
You both look as happy as pigs in …. ! 😊. Just to make the connection with the diy channel! Great job guys.
Very nice. I think we all need to set up a TH-cam channel and patrons page. Beats the 8-5 mundane jobs!
Certainly does. It’s the daily 6-11pm editing shift which takes the fun out of it though. 😀
Always put your hand plane on its side, not blade down. It was the first thing we were taught in woodworking class.
Love the wall. Makes it more like a lodge.
Will be great when done
The repeat on the I was wrong tells us who edited this video...... LOL BTW awesome job on the wall!!!!
You don’t miss a thing! 🤣
Looking great and must smell amazing in there!

The cedar wall looks fantastic and I bet it smells good too! One of my favourite wood smells.
Never doubted it for a moment..stunning! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
looks amazing guys 👌💪🏼
Looks great, well done!
Looks fantastic, not saying you were bad way back at the start of your channel but your skills now are up there with some of the best in the trade.
Don’t worry we totally agree. All part of the DIY process I guess. Tim can’t watch some of earlier videos anymore. Lol
In one word Beautiful 😄

Hi Tim, looking great. Can't wait for farm videos, love them so much.
You could use some steam on the nicks left by the screws to bring them back a bit.
🙌🏽🙌🏽 Love 💕 the cedar wall and that blue ceiling is even more magnificent with that wall below
This wall is beautiful! The room is beautiful ! 👍
Thank you! 😊
Lookn good, I built a 6 x 4 Toolshed/Hut out of recycled cedar. That was 5 years ago and it still stinks yet and that's outside. Woohoo
It looks fabulous 😍
Must smell fantastic - looks great!
Looks amazing, I bet u can’t wait to move in.
Looks brilliant.
love it with the dark ceiling too👌
Thanks. We love it too.
Love the cedar with the blue paint ❤
Thanks, yeah it’s a good combo isn’t it!

Love the cedar paneling- it’s a wonderful lightweight choice. You will be moved in in no time!
Great job....really coming along and soon moving in day....
We can at least pretend even if we can’t sleep there yet! Might be an Idea to get running water and a working loo first though!
I love it keep it up 👍
Looks amazing, and goes really well with the blue ceiling. Brilliant
Great job guys. Bravo.
Looks gorgeous!
Absolutely stunning wall!
Love your work 👍
Awesome
Looks awesome!!
Thanks Rob
Looks brilliant, interesting in the cost outcomes and the Kitchen being installed. Brilliant work both
I look forward to your videos.
Glad you like them!
Nice touch on the vertical. Thought you would go horizontal
We ummed and arrrred about horizontal or vertical both would have looked pretty cool!
Love it.

Yes same with pallet walls and ply finishes. Would be looking into it more if we use similar on house build.
That Music ?? ... Perfect for insomnia or if you have a waiting list on your answerphone 😵💫😴😴😴😴
Is this a Triton planer (thicknesser?)? So often I need one for projects but not enough to buy an expensive professional one.
Yeah. I’ve used an abused for years and it’s held up fine.
Maybe you could have used one of those decking screw tools for hidden screws? Or maybe the gap would have been too big.. Anyway, it looks fantastic!
Thought about that. Not sure they would work on 18mm boards as decking thicker🤷♂️
It is always the jobs you think are going to be a breeze which take up time. Thicknessing. 🤯🙈🤯. Extractor 😱
I KnoW!😬
How bad was the snipe at each end of the boards?
Usually pretty bad when handling it in and out without rollers but most was cut off when fitted.
👍
I would card scrapper it, not sand it, want leave sanding marks
Great shout. Will dig it out of the workshop and have a go later.
Just asking , why did you not ship lap the wall ,,,eh
For me it's toooooo much like a pine ceiling, (which I despise). But I know that's just my opinion and I'm sure you're happy with it as others are.
5mm gap plus baton gap for earwigs and spiders !
