Expressions of support lacking military endorsement is inconsequential. The United States government is not in a position to conscript its citizens into conflict for the benefit of a select few wealthy individuals and corporations over international territories. The United States would never enter into a conflict with China over the Philippines' contested territories, similar to its non-involvement with Russia over Crimea, Donbass and other Ukrainian territories, or the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia, nor in reaction to the slow encroachment on Georgian lands predominantly inhabited by ethnic Georgians. Likewise, the United States will take military action against China regarding Taiwan, aside from temporary sanctions and more arms sales similar to Ukraine.
And some clarification to our fellow international and local viewers who are not informed or confused.
The WPS (West Philippine Sea) is a part of the South China Sea that resides within the Philippine EEZ. WE ARE NOT claiming the entirety of the South China Sea, as we only use the phrase "WPS" to assert our rightful claims within our own EEZ as further reinforced by the 2016 Arbitral Tribunal.

The U.S. freedom of navigation exercises are obviously not hypocritical. Whether the US ratifies the Law of the Sea or not, they still assert they have the right to sail in those waters.
What IS hypocritical is China having signed on to respect those boundaries and then not respecting those boundaries.
Agreed, but it's still important to acknowledge both side's flaws and shortcomings. It's kinda strange enforcing a law you never REALLY agreed with, so...
When I was a kid, I remember hearing all these other kids telling each other wrong info. Then I realized that's why and how people think the USA is wrong because most adults have below avg education. After WW2, the USA owned half the world, and everyone was shocked that the USA let everyone be free instead of colonies. The biggest winner of this freedom was China because USA gave them all the jobs and money and even protected China's oil supply with middle east conflicts. The homeless people are homeless because their jobs and money are in China. Like Energy and Matter, money doesn't get destroyed, it moves from country to country and the country with the most unbalanced growth is China. The USA didn't need oil, that was for everyone else and especially China. China and Russia knows the UN will allow countries to be invaded and taken over like Xinjiang if they have riots so they promote instability around the world, while the USA promotes stability because that's the job all the countries want them to do or they won't exist. Stupidly, China has the most to lose if things change because they are the biggest winner of the status quo.

The unfortunate thing here is they are serving under shortsighted military officials who sent them out there without a plan against these gray zone tactics. The Philippines should strengthen its economy with 25-year timeframe (up to 2049) through opening up some industries currently restricted from 100% American and European FDI equity participation like hydrocarbon exploration and extraction in the Reed Bank and once they are opened to Western investors through a constitutional amendment, the Philippine government should extract 20% hydrocarbon extraction royalties and use them to fund military modernization to prepare itself in an existential war with China.

Important to us that are unfamiliar with the disputed area.
It should be noted that China legally declared in 1932 that its southernmost territory was limited to the Paracels (prior to this, their southernmost claimed territory was limited to Hainan island ONLY). 1932 was the year they first claimed any feature south of Hainan island and announced it to the international community. The Vietnamese were the first to claim the Paracels decades before 1932.
When France occupied six features in the Spratlys in 1933, China did NOT protest, as they have declared that their southernmost territory was limited to the Paracels a year earlier. In 1934, China again declared that their southernmost territory was the Paracels, specifically Triton Island. Meaning, by international law, they recognize that anything south of the Paracels are NOT Chinese territories. They only changed it in 1946, they created a modern map and started saying that Scarborough Shoal and the Spratly was their "historic territory" even though they admitted twice before that their southernmost territory was limited to the Paracels "specifically Triton Island".
It should also be noted that China itself re-published all its ancient maps in three volumes in 1990, 1994, and 1997. All of there "ancient and historical maps" showed that the southernmost territory was Hainan. They afterwards pulled back those books after they realizes that their actual ancient and historical maps were against the ridiculous claims! The re-publication of those maps literally doomed themselves in regards to their claims!
The ground for their claims is flimsy at best and can easily be defeated in court, which was seen during the Philippines v China case that effectively invalidated China's dashed claims in 2016. In should be magnified that during the court proceedings, China itself sent a legally-binding Note Verbale, where they reiterated their recognition of the 1900 Treaty of Washington and the 1930 US-UK Treaty, which recognizes Scarborough Shoal and the Spratly Islands as exclusive territories of the Philippines! They literally aided the Philippines' case with their own arguments!

Thumbnail went too far china has some conflict with INDIA'S KASHMIR not with whole Kashmir
No new negotiation needed. It was already negotiated. Why would anyone believe that China would stand by a new agreement when they aren't standing by any of the current ones?
Philippines: we have 7,641 beautiful Islands
Guy named Bai Meichu: Nuh uh.
I feel bad for the Chinese for having to live beneath these idiots
Greedy Chinese
I would rather feel bad for those 20 countries who live near china and have to fight for their territories.
China is grabbing land in parts of philippines who are the idiots
Paid trolls. @lonel714 are you idiot? as you can see the ayungin shoal is very near to Palawan, Philippines and it is very far from China. How come China claim that shoal if it is very near our island. We can barely see the chinese ship while swimming in these beautiful islands. Thats horrible! Its near us, we dont feel security at all
As a Malaysian :Bro I'm scared
“You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth”
Yeah like parts of the philippines is in china's mouth china is evil like US but act like goody-goodies
Sierra madre? Like fallout new Vegas!?!
Sierra Madre is the mountain range here in the Philippines🇵🇭..
Both the Philippines and Nevada (where Las Vegas is) were colonized by Spain, at one point, so they both have things named in Spanish. Finding a Sierra Madre in the Philippines and another in the US Southwest is like finding a place called Hidden Valley in the US and another in Australia.
Dong Tai Ni: 2 inches
Seriously, are you guys being funded by the Chinese.
I am an Indian and was shocked to see that you have shown the entirety of J/K as part of China in the thumbnail, when infact it is India's land.
This is not the first time either. I request you to make the necessary changes
I have noticed they are favoring CCP.
dude, it was probably an accident
yeah they're taking money from china in a video they call china's claims ridiculous, what are you talking about dude
but they've excluded Hainan, sooooo....
@@Thallidus I don't actually mean to accuse them of being chinese-funded, but they have shown the incorrect map of India when the video topic is China more than once
.
Also it shows poor journalism on their part if nothing else.
Nicely done produced and delivered.
You're wrong the last few years haven't taught us that escalation spirals can be surprisingly difficult to defuse.
It showed us that it is surprisingly difficult to say when and with what severity a dictator will start a war of expansion.
All of this wouldn't happen at all had our stoop¡d senate decided to extend the US bases treaty in the 90s but instead of thinking about the country's geopolitical and long-term interests, they chose to appease the protesting national democrats/NatDems (loud minority leftist nationalists).
The withdrawal of US bases led to a power vacuum in the region that China took advantage of.
Even countries with large economy, modern military, and matured democracy like Japan and South Korea decided to retain their US bases.
And fun fact, the senate president who pushed this disaster in the making lost so badly when he decided to run for president a year later.
mga kasabwat kasi ng china ang mga 'yon.. may duda din ako diyan kay gloria..
@@controllerplayer1720false, China wouldn't have a reason to do so. And removing the bases have been a movement since the 70s and during the Martial Law era, it was even questioned during the 1981 election.
China has a dispute with japan so nah that would not affect anything
Telling nonsense you naive! They can set down a new contract immediately to announce to the world that they willing. They will destroy any contract when they unwilling. How do you think they will be limited? They are the one to decide it. The truth is they will not. Fighting your self for your rights and beliefs! You will be recorded in the history as a braver.
You put Kashmir as part of China, then excluded Hainan...!? 🧐
😂
Melee weapons? Geopolitics is often referred to as a game, but I've always thought Risk not WoW.
The U.S. hasn’t ratified the conventions but still strictly abides by it, so it isn’t really hypocritical as you say. You don’t see the U.S. Navy setting up off the coast of some random country and terraforming an island to militarize. The Philippines are our Allies along side Japan and South Korea, the laws of the sea permit free navigation for all. It’s also straight up imperialism and not kosher to be stealing land in the modern day.
The violent one is always the wrong one. Facts of life
The uncircumcised pirates armed with axes and knives but afraid of scissors ✂️😂
And best of all, Philippines special Navy Seal who lost their arm to China marine police and sacrificed the thumb to Nemo in the sea.

@@AliAlexRG US military are too busy in Ukraine and in Palestine. Not to mention the fact that the US military industrial complex, is literally bankrupting the country.

Pray for peace 😢 no war please
Wait until Atlantis announces it lives there too.
China's claims has the same argument and logic as the Greece's claims in the east Mediterranean against Turkey.
Wait what? The 2 situations have nothing in common. Greek islands in the Mediterranean are actually inhabited by Greeks (and have been inhabited for thousands of years). China here is trying to claim an almost underwater reef, that is obviously uninhabited. Also, Greek islands are within Greece's exclusive economic zone, unlike China's claims. There are literally no parallels in the two situations.
You have no idea about European History, I see.
Your wrong. The Greeks were ethnically cleansed from areas within the last 125 years. "China" is claiming areas they likely never controlled.
... No? There's still Greeks living on those islands?
those islands don't have Chinese living in them. in fact its mostly the Cham people and the Tagalogs that historically control those islands. the Han Chinese dynasties was never recognize as maritime states. Austronesian people historically dominates the SCS since Austronesians was a maritime culture. While the Han Chinese where stuck on the mainland for hundreds of years the Austronesians already explored the large indian ocean and pacific ocean and occupied Hawaii and Madagascar before the Han Chinese even sailed to the Spratlys.
This is nightmare.. there should be peace
That shoal is near Palawan , Philippines. We can barely see the chinese ships while swimming in these beautiful islands. So whats next? Are they going to invade Palawan also?
Great presentation skills. Respect 👍👍👍🍺
The whole idea is creating another Ukraine in Asia, we all thought it would be Taiwan, but it seems the Philippines is more dispensable to the West.
So first Taiwan which hasn't happened yet, now Phillipines?
.. that's scary
Interesting
Rishi Sunak getting a Brilliant subscription🤣😂🤣. Great ad transition.
As a Philippino I hopefully China and Philippines both sides need peace ✌️✌️ nothing war ok❤❤❤
China needs to stop being a bully.
Q: Could China and the Philippines Go To War Over a Reef?
A: No.
