This is sooooo true. I think her divorce and what she’s been through would put anybody through emotional hell and I won’t deny that. But many single parents have been through the same ordeal and they still have to get up every day, get their kids to school BY themselves, somehow afford childcare, get themselves to work to bust their ass for a check, and come home every night to cook dinner and help with homework and get the kids to bed. Many of these parents work multiple jobs and if their kid is sick, maybe they have no choice but to miss out on pay. Kim makes money in her sleep and has unlimited resources. It’s just incredibly tone deaf of her.
Not to mention, there's couples out there who have to have a parent Stay home to raise their kids, because that parent can only get a minimum wage job. And that job can't even pay for the childcare for their kids while they're working. So at the end of the day, you're losing money while working. Just to have someone watch your kids. I'm a stay at home mom because I'm disabled. So I can't get alot of the jobs that pay alot. So it's cheaper for me to stay home and be mom. Which I'm thankful for. Thankfully my man makes more than enough for us to live in luxury. With me being home, we were able to start our construction company. So now we're making bank. But before, it was a struggle.
Literally this. I am not a single mom(not even an adult), but I remember a time at my school where a mom had to miss a job interview (she hadn't had a job in 6 months) because she needed to take her kid to the doctor. That type of sacrifice for your kid is something Kim will never have to experience.

90% of my unhappiness comes from not having enough money. In America you cannot get hurt or get into an accident unless you want to pay THOUSANDS for it. Mental health services also cost a fortune, so that sucks for people with mental issues or trauma (my hospital bill after attempting on my own life was $10,000 not counting the ambulance fee or local hospital fee). Also in my own town the suburban infrastructure is terrible and basically demands that you have a car (i.e. a giant hunk of speeding metal that you also have to put thousands into functioning). And ALSO ALSO the housing market bubble which is never going to lower. Since 2020 our checks have decreased by 12% in value because of inflation, still going up. All of this directly affects our BASIC quality of life, not just entertainment or enjoyment. And I'm sick of rich people telling us to work harder or to "hang in there!" when we are killing ourselves for money anyway.
As a former McDonald’s worker, abuse by the customers was one thing. But then also having to deal with the abuse from higher ups, was what broke the camels back. My last two months at where I worked, were so toxic. I worked through the whole pandemic, and then some. people where so rude. We were so short staffed, management did NOT care. Our GM was drunk at home, while we busted our butts with three people on service, Lobby closed, customers throwing drinks at us. The GM didn’t care. For $13 an hour. No thanks. A lot of us quit. Working 40+ hours to get disrespected, no thank you. No one deserves that. It’s not that we don’t want to work, it’s that we don’t want to put up with the disrespect and incompetent management
At my location, we recently had a situation with an armed customer in the drive through at night, barely an hour after I left, while the manager was in the parking lot smoking on his break. He did absolutely nothing to diffuse the situation, letting the underage staff (and some barely adults) deal with it. So glad he's gone now.

i am a cosmetologist now, it’s better but a lot of the same problems and i tell all my clients who mention fast food workers in any type of negative light exactly that. i’ve done so many different types of jobs and fast food was by far the hardest and worst!!! you’re getting the crappy end of the stick in every direction!!! low pay, no benefits, terrible schedule, rude customers, rude bosses and managers, plus super hard work on top of it!!! glad you quit and hope you found a more suitable situation with better pay and better treatment.
Yess , I work as a sale person in 2020 and i have to say, I've the same experience, they reduced the staff to half, and let us work 9-11hr a day. It's so exhausting and even some customer don't want to wear mask putting us at risk. Even no off during periods, off means salary cut. Now I stop working because salary is too small only 79.63$ a month, which is 6000rs in india. Selling vegetable near the road is more profitable and more peaceful and less tired.
Literally the only reason we have weekends is because people went on strike, fought and literally died for that norm to change. lol corporations didn't *decide* to give us weekends, if it was up to them we would never have any days off. This!! I have a learning disability and on top of that crippling mental illness. I try my best to be the best employee I can but often times I'm met with cut hours and snide comments from my employers. Even worse I feel like I cant disclose these problems to employers for fear of losing jobs or being treated differently.

I'm a teacher and I work SO hard. Teachers get dismissed because it's "easy" to just work with kids all day. I paid for my college. I worked full time while attending classes and living on my own. I spend unpaid hours making lesson plans and ensuring good classes. I spend my own money to try and give the kids the best experience possible. I get so frustrated by how belittled we are as a profession because we are helping shape future generations, and we get some of the worst pay in the country. I work SO so hard. And I get no gratification from it other than that of knowing I am making a difference in lives... (which is great, but man would I love to be able to afford a new car lol).

I'm gen Z and deadass the number of job applications I've submitted that are ghosted and not even rejected is ridiculous. And I'm not above working a minimum wage retail job. It's really damn bizarre hearing people spew the "people don't want to work" rhetoric. Also, a lot of places know the minimum number of people that need to work at a place in order for production to be sufficient, so even if you get the job, you get the absolute lowest number of hours per week 😔

Exactly, the job market is awful! I’m 21 working a 9-5 in the field I got my associate’s degree in. No connections or money. I can say with certainty that I JUST GOT LUCKY (Hiring manager used to shop at the exact retail store I worked at lmao). I applied 100+ places for beginner positions, part time, fully time, remote, hybrid, in person…. Got ghosted on all of them other than like 5 rejections. I’m insanely lucky for my current job! But the market is absolutely awful and not for anyone unless you’re young with 10+ years of experience.

Stylists, chefs, trainers, hair and makeup, security, housekeepers, nannies, social media experts, graphic designers, marketing, etc are the people that she depends on in order to make it WORK. Coupled with the grind culture it has been very easy to exploit people like this but since most of them are now waking up to the reality of it being just exploitation and not what they want their life to be, they want to set boundaries and a fair compensation instead. It sucks that minimum wage jobs doesn't even pay a livable wage. Seeing the inflation of prices for everything happening right in front of my eyes is scary. Where I live (Sweden) people who doesn't live on the countryside (more or less everyone middle class and up.. and people say at least half of Sweden is middle class) seems to have forgotten about us.

Those ladies might work hard, but the levels of physical, emotional, and mental stress are very different compared to the average person. I would even say there’s a huge disparity between her working maybe 8-10 hours on a photo shoot and the Production Assistant who has to work 1-2 hours before and after she arrives so that everything is as she likes it. A PA can’t have multiple jobs in a day and they get paid minimum wage, but in a place like LA where she lives, minimum wage is not livable. There is a disparity in stress even there that is likely invisible to her now.

Im 22 years old, have a 4 year degree, a full time job, and STILL can’t afford to move out of my parents house. I’m making $19.60 an hour, which is very good for someone with little experience, and with that I wouldn’t be able to afford my bills if I were to move out on my own. Yes! I've been working 6 days a week and finally decided to go to urgent care for an ongoing issue (didn't wanna miss work to make a doc appt and eventually it got worse) and then they billed me for over $1000 dollars. That's WITH insurance. Like i can't even put my health first because then I'm left eith bills that i can't even afford because i can't work???? Things like this are why i have no sympathy for them. There's people literally working themselves to the ground just to get by but we're only human and are limited by our human bodies. We don't have the privilege of just telling others what to do or when to watch your kids any time it's needed.
I work as a CNA and trust me when I say, we're not paid nearly enough...I have SOOOOO many stories where I was beaten, screamed at, had literal poop THROWN at me, told every single day by at least one person that we don't care about them because of the facilities shortcomings (not having good food, or rules we have to enforce for safety, understaffing, etc) I do my job because I want to make a difference, and hearing some rich chick who was born with a platinum spoon in her mouth say that ignorant s***...makes me so mad! I'd love to see her actually work an average job for a month. Not own a company where you hire people to do all the hard work. Big difference hun...
I work in food service at a hospital, and for a hospital that feeds around 600-700 patients there are 6-7 people delivering trays and that’s on a good day. A normal day is about 5, it’s absurd.

Totally. They are not doing the same work as the average business owner. They have about 74937 personal assistants for that work. All they do is slap their name on the business, put money into it, and post a couple promotional videos so it looks like they're super involved.
As a neurodivergent person, I literally can't work because of understimulation and executive dysfunction, and very few employers would want to make accommodations for that, and to ask for them in the first place would risk me loosing the job for being autistic. So no, I literally cannot "get up and work," the world was not built for people like me.

I’m autistic and a business owner , sometimes it’s the best way , I can do things at my pace and I don’t have to adhere to other peoples rules and have full control of my environment. I struggle with patience ( I think the construction workers / local council etc hate me 🫣, when I get fixated on something it and I want to do it right now !!! I’m pretty hard to work with and I’m veryyy specific ) but autistic people exist , I’m not doing it from a place of nastiness just anxiety mixed with high levels of passion for what I do . I hope I can make space for other autistic people in my business when I have the means to do so and give exposure to people to autistic business owners to the people that have to work with me. The world may not be built for people like us right now but I’m going to make everyone deal with me wether they want to or not because I know my flaws but I know I have strengths that no neurotypical could match even on their best day 🤷♀️
As a someone who has ADHD and awful depression episodes, I sometimes don't see a future for myself, I am 20 and I don't feel like an adult yet, I feel useless. And I see a lot of young adults feeling the same, this feeling that nothing you do will matter, this hopelessness and fear of losing everything, of the future. No, we don't want to work, we are tired, we are afraid, I just want a minute of peace...
I am so, so, sorry you have to go through depression. I hope you remember: if you ever feel beaten or broken (it's happened to me before), it will get better. It won't happen overnight, but it will get better. Sending love.

I have an aunt who is unmarried and doesn't have kids and her mortgage payment is literally $250/mo. She asked me how much I still had left to pay off my car (~$5k) and then gave me that money. Before I could even pay off my car, it broke down, my cat got horribly sick, and I moved. That $5k? Gone in less than a week and I STILL have my car payment and an additional $2k to pay off for my cat. It's just sickening. I'm working AND I came into (what I thought would be) life-changing money and I still somehow ended up behind. How does that make sense?
It varies, when you don't have much money to begin with any amount more than what you currently have seems appealing as if it'd change your life but 1K or more is the norm for what people make in a month when they are working. At least in the U.S that's something the majority of us already have unless you're talking about being given 1K on a random occasion.
as someone who’s been working w mcdonalds for 4+ yrs i’d like to say THANK U for mentioning how mistreated fast food employees are and w as much as we’re exploited u could probably make a whole video on that alone! a ton of ppl fail to realize how young the staff is and how poorly the managers treat us. most times we don’t even get our 30min lunch breaks. the scary thing is how normalized and rewarded it is to put up w said exploitation.
Is it just where I worked or is it every fast food manager who loves to threaten you with, “there’s an ass for every seat and a seat for everyone ass!” Implying it wouldn’t matter to them one but if they wanted to fire you for no reason at all.
I've been working here for nearly a year, and I can't say how many times I had to ask for a break because most of the time, male managers would "forget" to give breaks, especially to those who are 16-19 years old, and we had to ask for breaks multiple times before finally getting one of the last breaks of the night. Also, most of this age range is miserable and can be heard saying "I hate my job but I need the gas money/pay for car insurance/pay for summer classes" as they drink their second stolen coffee.
I worked at a fast food place for 2 weeks when I was 19- it was the worst experience of my life and I will forever be grateful to my mother who told me to quit, and that she would support me until I found another job. I know not everyone has that luxury so I’m glad I did.
Yes! I’ve worked multiple fast food/restaurant jobs and we are treated like dirt. I also feel that most people look down on us as well. There are exceptions where people treat us so sweet and those customers are the absolute best. But the bottom line is that we work hard, we do the jobs no one wants to do and are still not given the proper treatment by management and customers. I’ve had multiple managers that don’t care to give out breaks let alone just tell me I’m doing a good job. We work hard and hearing her say that we don’t work hard really made me upset because I’m going to school and I’m working, we are putting in the work, we just don’t have the resources that she has had. We all come from different places and have different experiences but we are working.
I'm so sick of the "WORK WORK WORK" mentality or how glorified it is to have a job 24/7 and making that the only way of getting even a MINIMUM income when that's just unfair for the lower class or for anyone who can relate to already having an awful 9 to 5 job. I hat the privilege of living 2 years unemployed / freelancing illustrations for furries who paid amazingly well for a full colored drawing after I had to drop out of Uni and I had the time of my life having the most free time I could get, I had time to work on the mental health problems that school left me with, I got to hang out with my friends, I got to learn how to cook so many dishes for my mom and sister and more importantly I got time for myself to just lay down when I had bad mental health days which is something that EVERYONE deserves. It took me not working or being a student to realize that those two things are absolute pain if it's not something for you and seeing people who haven't worked hard a day in their life, who were basically born in a golden crib be like "just get up and do the job🤪" gives me an actual headache fr.
Love how grounded and sensible your videos are. As for me, work is something you do to make a living, not something to live FOR. I’m tired of this hustle culture and the repeated speech that you should “follow your passion and pursue your dream” that blurs the limit between personal life and work and makes so many people frustrated. You CAN have a passion OUTSIDE of work. I really appreciate the privilege that after I leave my boring “9 to 5” I can completely disconnect from it. The whole place could burn to the ground and I could not care less! The thing is, there is NO such thing as the perfect job. There will always be nasty people and difficulties to face, no matter what you do. And no, I don’t want to work my ass off for a bunch of guys to fill their pockets while getting away with paying me little more than they have to by law. I do my job as best as I can, but I’m not making sacrifices for it.
Exactly. I don't mind working but it's a necessity that I only do as much as I need. I don't even mind doing overtime but it's still not my life. Once I clock out it's done, I hate how there's a push to make people "realise" that they "love" working AKA keeping them there as long as possible 😑
Here's the thing, while they do have an e-commerce business, they themselves aren't doing 90% of work that goes into running an e-commerce business. They aren't building a website themselves, they aren't mixing, bottling and shipping the products themselves, they have the money and privilege to hire ppl to the the bulk and the hardest part of the work. While they do have jobs, and work, they aren't doing the work other women in their type of business has to do.
A lot of their businesses also ended up failing because they weren’t good quality or sustainable in the long run, and many were just seen as cash grabs from the impressionable people that look up to them, so even if they were working loads of hours, just how great at their “work” are they actually? (even though I would say their actual work is just drumming up controversy on purpose)
I was a janitor for over 7 years, including the movie theaters. All I'm gonna say, is I wish Kim could work one of my old shifts, or even just one of the banks I cleaned where one of the guys would *BLOW UP* one of the stalls on a daily basis. I'm talking all over the toilet, on the walls, on the floor, all over the stalls, EVERYWHERE, EVERY👏 DAY👏

So I've been disabled since I was 25(im 32 now) and I would literally give or do *ANYTHING* to not be disabled and be able to work, but thats just not possible. I would honestly do anything to be able to go grocery shopping, and get everything I want, and not have to strictly plan what I get and only get things on the list that are within the budget. That alone is a massive privilege.
Right? “Just get off your ass and work” … well I’m partially disabled and some days I literally physically can not get up. My muscles sometimes don’t work well enough to stand or walk. I’m blessed/privileged because I’m only partially disabled and can hold down a full time job.

I cannot count the sheer amount of times I have seen someone say or have been told that "disabled people can work and just don't want to" or "their/your disability is not an excuse to not be able to work" or my personal favorite, "disabled people are impoverished because they don't want to work/are too lazy to." People with this mindset view disabled people as lazy bastards who leech off of hard-working Americans and rarely anything more.
@@SpecialBlanket Yes they do, especially for those who have invisible disabilities/mental illness etc. And it's not even just within the workforce. If I had a dime for the amount of times I've been called lazy or heard others been called lazy because they are physically and/or mentally unable to do certain things, I would have enough money to never have to hear someone call me lazy again.
I would also add that the 'advice' that Kim gave also kind of erases the struggles of those with mental illness, disabilities or chronic health conditions. Where the output of work they are able to give may be different from able bodied people with no health issues, mentally or physically. But those people are still giving it all while getting almost nothing for that work. Besides the fact that health/mental care is extremely expensive and all their money is going to pay that instead of a savings account.
I can relate to that first hand as my income goes to my trauma recovery, because surviving child abuse is seen as a personal and not a societal problem.

34:26 this reminded me about something that happened in my country (Brazil) that shaped how we saw the natives for years. When the Portuguese arrived and started colonizing the territory, they made the natives work, and the natives didn't like working to the bone, so they were known to rest when they were supposed to be working. That ended up creating the stereotype of the natives being lazy (when they just didn't want to work to the bone), which worsened the pre-existing racism against the natives and influencing how the country saw them for *years*.

A lot of millennials were raised by boomers, who taught us that there was some kind of reliable formula to success. "Just do X, Y, and Z, then you'll be successful!" When it didn't work out that way because the economy we live in now is completely different from the economy boomers came of age in, a lot of millennials felt betrayed and lied to. That's why millennials tend to be SALTY about this stuff.
Not only that, but the boomer marketing mindset is what got us to where we are now. Salesmanship turned into a culture of insatiable consumerism, nobody gave two cheeks about how things would develop in the long run because they expected technology to advance so fast and easy that all our problems would be solved before they even had any impact, and now the people who are supposed to advance humanity and technology are so depressed and unmotivated (if they made it do adulthood instead of making the choice to unlife themselves) that nothing is likely to actually get moving in time.
As a partially disabled high school science teacher who works 65 hours a week, this infuriates me. I’m a millennial with $56k in student debt and I only make $34k/year! I can barely afford food and rent and student loans and all my other bills. Edit: Please don’t comment to move somewhere that pays more because I’ve looked at the teacher pay in major cities and if you adjust for the cost of living teachers in big cities make just as much or even less. The area where I live at is very affordable but still, $34k doesn’t get far anywhere, especially since about $9k gets taken for taxes and my health insurance is $3k per year.

In my city teachers who’ve just graduated can have a starting pay of 60,000 with great benefits BUT You have to know someone in the board of Ed to get the job Have a family member or connections OR Have a family member plus “donate” to political campaigns (minimum $250 for campaign dinners ) or volunteer your time all in hopes of becoming a permanent employee with benefits I worked for 5 years as a personal assistant 8-3 full time and I was at just the poverty line or below it and never became permanent Living in the city doesn’t always guarantee you’ll get the higher paying position The nepotism and “donating” is crazy

There is a change coming. The "I dont want a career" trend is big rn because people are OVER IT. I think people are waking up to we work so much for material things and its not worth it anymore. More time off, not even paid just literally days off where its not a big deal to take off. I work in a factory and in 5 years have worked myself up to having 21 paid vacation days. After that no more days. There is no reason to LIVE your one life this way. And people are waking up!!

Kim's words really hit me hard. I was working two jobs until my reliable job was allowing for minors to get SA and treated the workers poorly. Im 18 in (southern) California and 15/hr can barely pay for gas now. I cry most nights because I can see myself falling into poverty because I cant even afford an apartment here. Cheapest is 2 grand for a 1 bedroom apartment. While I drive by a construction zone every day where they are building hundreds of 4 bedroom homes for the rich starting at 600 grand. The world is horrible and soon the class divide will be so far apart from eachother people making 1 mil a year will be considered poor.
I totally relate to this, I'm 19, making minimum wage, and living in southern California as well. Even with roommates, I don't think I could reliably afford an apartment right now, I can't afford a car to get myself places, AND there's the massive burden of paying for college. I also regularly feel like I'm just going to be poor for the rest of my life. It's a scary place to be. That's what makes Kim's words so angering, that feeling of wondering how the hell you're going to survive is something I'm sure she's never experienced.

I used to work at banana republic with a lot of hard working Mexican and Vietnamese girls. Like as first gen or immigrants I think we do put pressure on ourselves to “get up and work”. But when we talked wages we found out the high school white boys who were just there to have extra ouid money were getting a whole dollar more than the us. Which shows that u can work hard and still get underpaid. Black and Latina women are severely underpaid and it’s definitely not because they don’t work hard. Anyway gap inc sucks and there was severe Latinophobia from the higher ups.
This is tragic. I never understood wage gap when you're still doing tbe same thing within the same hours. But i also know that it has it's long history of racism and other biases. It's so fvk up.
COVID and the lockdowns in the UK really highlighted just how important our nurses are, sales assistants in supermarkets, drivers, teachers - non of these are particularly well paid jobs but these people are the backbone of our society. They work god damn hard - such a shame that hard you work doesn’t equate to the amount of money you make or a better standard of living
Nurses are paid very well, but other medical staff are paid so poorly sometimes you can make more in fast food or retail; CNA's, phlebotomists, patient transport, patient access, etc.
@@rachelgpryor Depends on the country but at least here in Germany, Nurses have one of the lowest incomes. And that's including many 48hr shifts. It's the same in many other countries because generally, jobs in the social field have shitty pay.
The wealth imbalance is actually staggering. There are people out there who if they burned half of their money, they'd still have enough left to live in luxury for the rest of their life... and then there's the rest of us, struggling to survive to the next pay check.

One of my favorite quotes (can’t remember from who) is “Never go to someone for criticism if you wouldn’t go to them for advice.” Kim’s ‘advice’ was nothing BUT criticism, so I think that quote holds up 💀 On a serious note, I feel that cost of living vs wage increase every day. My partner and I are living in the cheapest apartment we’ve ever lived in - $670 a month including utilities, sewage etc. The power bill fluctuates for usage but on a good month is like $45, and in a few years we will no longer be able to afford to live here despite it being “affordable housing” because they are going to raise it to over a thousand. We already can’t afford anything else in the area, including the “cheaper” areas. I’m a full time university student and my boyfriend has a bachelor’s degree, works for one of the largest car rental companies in the world (if not THE largest), and is number one in the region (with LITERAL trophies to show), has broken several rental and sales records, and sees absolutely none of his hard work in his paycheck - he actually does more work for less money than the people before him, because they quit since they were facing the same wage problem. He is absolutely MISERABLE and is actively job hunting, but has been put on the back burner for months because every interview he goes to he mentions that he cares about having his time at home to spend with his loved ones, handle business, get enough sleep and be able to stay in shape and they immediately do a 180. He always asks for feedback on the interview if they say they picked someone else and never gets a response. He LITERALLY cannot find work because he wants a reasonable schedule. Everybody wants to work, nobody wants to be abused by their employer, and employers only want workers they can exploit.

Also would just like to say, as a former fast food worker, anytime I go through a drive-thru I am as kind as I can possibly be even if the other person sounds like they absolutely hate me on the other end. Literally one time I went through a long line at Taco Bell and when I got to the window and talked with the girl as I was about to leave she literally said “thank you for being so nice to me“ and it just makes me so sad to think about how horrible people are every single day to these young people. Especially because I was one.. just be kind to people you really don’t know how much it can effect someone.
My favorite excuse that people have against making minimum wage more is “but the prices of everything else will raise” Like have you not noticed that’s already happened while minimum wage has been the same for years? Rent rises, food rises, utilities rises and much more but pay stays the same.
I’m surprised penny didn’t talk about nursing and how nurses are leaving the bedside, not because they don’t want to work but because of the unrealistic expectations the workplace has on bedside nurses. Nurses are hard workers and deserve so much more for what they do.

Kim has something that most everyday business Women don't have. She has time. She doesn't have to cook, clean or look after her kids. If her car breaks down, she doesn't have to worry about taking it in for repairs. She has people for all that. People doing her makeup, people helping her achieve her silhouette. She doesn't do any of it on her own. If she wants to sit there an focus on her business, she can, without worry. She has that luxury. We all have the same 24 hours in our day, but if you don't have maids, cooks, nannies, personal trainers, or private jets, your 24 hours are not the same as Kim's 24 hours.

Oh wow 😳 I've never worked in that kind of food service, however I do work other retail related positions-- once as both a cashier and stocker and currently in a deli that's within a ~fancy~ grocery store. I always make sure to say thank you whenever I can, even in drive thrus and honestly thank you doesn't even cover it for all the stuff a lot of yall have to deal with. If I had the money to give all of yall raises and promotions and the power to demote/fire the assholes, I would in a HEARTBEAT.

The irony of Kim saying this is that her BRAND is "effortless leisure" so if she really believes in hard work as much as she says, then why sell the opposite? While her sentiment is true, it's rather hypocritical and disingenuous under that specific context--hence the ridicule
I'm sure working in e-commerce is hard for the regular entrepreneur but I honestly don't know if Kim K had to do the hard grind that most owners of an e-commerce store would have to do since she had family wealth and the option to pay some one else to do the grunt work. She also had proximity to famous people making it easier to gain a customer base. I am sure she works hard for her station in life but I don't know if she is working HARD hard.
Exactly, their business empire scaled with their wealth. Kim’s not packaging individual orders like an Etsy shop. I don’t think she’s putting in the same amount of labor as when she was organizing Paris Hilton’s closet.

Influencers much smaller than Kim get approached ALL THE TIME for all sorts of business opportunities. Companies just wanting to throw money at them for their influence. Consider the ACE Family. Though they ran it into the ground with their stupidity and greed, they partnered with a company to provide makeup brand. They do all the production and fulfillment, and all the Acr Family had to do was post the brand on their socials. That’s it. That could make MILLIONS per year. As in 10, 20, 50 million per year. With the influencer getting 30-60% of the profit for just talking about it. A friend in advertising told me Kim charges $250K-500K just to post something on her page. That’s the power of her reach. Put a company to fulfill a product behind her, she’d rake in 8-figures a year just mentioning her brand while a company handles all the rest.
Exactly what I was thinking. She already had connections and a network built in. That's not to say that she hasn't worked for what she has - she obv is very intelligent and has used that to make strides others with her means have not - but if she thinks its the same level of work that working class people have to put in daily she is very much delusional.

I’m a 22 year old with a full time job and I don’t know a single person in real life around my age who can afford to live on their own in a one bedroom or even bachelor style apartment. And people expect us to start buying houses and popping out babies when were barely surviving already…
Kim's employees who make her wealth need to unionize. They're the ones who actually make the products, the products which then generate revenue. We should also mention financial capital, the "passive income" whose initial capital is based on surplus value from the exploitation. Her entire family and other billionaires pedal the "we work hard to get here" argument to avoid talking about who is behind the curtains that make up their wealth.

Guys, thanks for making this video. I have seen the Kim clip, and it took all the air out of my tank. But seeing this, and hearing your realistic and genuinely relatable stance on wealth and privilege and how hard it is, really made me feel like I'm not alone struggling.
The Kardashians are the most calculating people out there. Everyone who says "she doesn't realize..", no she 100% does. Nothing they say, no matter if it's in interviews, on their show or social media, is without a purpose. Can we talk about how discrimitory this is to disable people? There are people who literally can't get up. They get paid less even if they have get work harder, specially if they have they have a physical disability. Or if they have a mental disability people don't tend to understand how exhausting it can be for a person like this. It's harder to get hired as a disable person. And also, don't get me started on HOW DAMN EXPENSIVE LIFE CAN GET WHEN YOU ARE DISABLE!!!!!! For so many pople it doesn't make the cut. They have to think about meds, check ups, physical or mental therapy/assistance, therapy and other stuff, and that doesn't includes all the things people need (rent, food, water, gas and etc).
Something I've noticed is that as soon as wages go up, prices too. Even if it's little by little. Companies still make up on the money spent on wages. And money is worth less after each increase. It's a never ending cycle. Benefits are also never enough to compensate for the loss of spending power.
I agree with a lot that was said in this video. I am disabled but work nearly full time 34-36hrs a week and also attend college full time. I’d give anything to not have to work as much as I do. I also feel like my workplace doesn’t respect when I am sick and bedridden because they expect too much out of me. However I have to make a point that in my area at least, people my age are genuinely lazy and that’s because if they can can’t pay their bills that month their parents pay it for them, no questions asked. They never have to worry about making ends meet on their own terms. They also spend their paychecks on going to bars and large shopping trips then complain about how broke they are and how they only have $5 left in their bank account. It’s really shocking. They also get to call off for being hungover without much repercussions but when I call off because of disability reasons, I am berated by my GM and given the silent treatment for a week. I usually live paycheck to paycheck, but I’d never ask so much from my parents. I come from a family that does not come from generational wealth, and I’d feel bad taking my parents hard earned money, even if there was an emergency. My parents love me a lot and they’d do anything for me but I respect them too much. Just because I am their child doesn’t mean I’m entitled to their money, I’m an adult now too. I’ve worked 4 jobs in my lifetime in different areas and it’s the same situation every time. Many kids around me have it so easy and I honestly wish I didn’t have to work so much to make ends meet, but once I graduate I’ll at least have more free time, will have a higher paying job, and will have good foundations for my future success. I won’t be wealthy like the Kardashians, and it won’t all be sunshine and rainbows, but I think I will eventually be comfortable. Anyways sorry for the rant! Love the videos ❤️

This is sooooo true. I think her divorce and what she’s been through would put anybody through emotional hell and I won’t deny that. But many single parents have been through the same ordeal and they still have to get up every day, get their kids to school BY themselves, somehow afford childcare, get themselves to work to bust their ass for a check, and come home every night to cook dinner and help with homework and get the kids to bed. Many of these parents work multiple jobs and if their kid is sick, maybe they have no choice but to miss out on pay. Kim makes money in her sleep and has unlimited resources. It’s just incredibly tone deaf of her.

Not to mention, there's couples out there who have to have a parent Stay home to raise their kids, because that parent can only get a minimum wage job. And that job can't even pay for the childcare for their kids while they're working. So at the end of the day, you're losing money while working. Just to have someone watch your kids. I'm a stay at home mom because I'm disabled. So I can't get alot of the jobs that pay alot. So it's cheaper for me to stay home and be mom. Which I'm thankful for. Thankfully my man makes more than enough for us to live in luxury. With me being home, we were able to start our construction company. So now we're making bank. But before, it was a struggle.

I am not a single mom(not even an adult), but I remember a time at my school where a mom had to miss a job interview (she hadn't had a job in 6 months) because she needed to take her kid to the doctor. That type of sacrifice for your kid is something Kim will never have to experience.

"Money can't buy happiness" but it sure can buy comfort, and I think that's something everyone deserves.
90% of my unhappiness comes from not having enough money. In America you cannot get hurt or get into an accident unless you want to pay THOUSANDS for it. Mental health services also cost a fortune, so that sucks for people with mental issues or trauma (my hospital bill after attempting on my own life was $10,000 not counting the ambulance fee or local hospital fee). Also in my own town the suburban infrastructure is terrible and basically demands that you have a car (i.e. a giant hunk of speeding metal that you also have to put thousands into functioning). And ALSO ALSO the housing market bubble which is never going to lower. Since 2020 our checks have decreased by 12% in value because of inflation, still going up. All of this directly affects our BASIC quality of life, not just entertainment or enjoyment. And I'm sick of rich people telling us to work harder or to "hang in there!" when we are killing ourselves for money anyway.

As a former McDonald’s worker, abuse by the customers was one thing. But then also having to deal with the abuse from higher ups, was what broke the camels back. My last two months at where I worked, were so toxic. I worked through the whole pandemic, and then some. people where so rude. We were so short staffed, management did NOT care.
Our GM was drunk at home, while we busted our butts with three people on service, Lobby closed, customers throwing drinks at us. The GM didn’t care. For $13 an hour. No thanks. A lot of us quit. Working 40+ hours to get disrespected, no thank you. No one deserves that. It’s not that we don’t want to work, it’s that we don’t want to put up with the disrespect and incompetent management
At my location, we recently had a situation with an armed customer in the drive through at night, barely an hour after I left, while the manager was in the parking lot smoking on his break. He did absolutely nothing to diffuse the situation, letting the underage staff (and some barely adults) deal with it. So glad he's gone now.

i am a cosmetologist now, it’s better but a lot of the same problems and i tell all my clients who mention fast food workers in any type of negative light exactly that. i’ve done so many different types of jobs and fast food was by far the hardest and worst!!! you’re getting the crappy end of the stick in every direction!!! low pay, no benefits, terrible schedule, rude customers, rude bosses and managers, plus super hard work on top of it!!! glad you quit and hope you found a more suitable situation with better pay and better treatment.

Yess , I work as a sale person in 2020 and i have to say, I've the same experience, they reduced the staff to half, and let us work 9-11hr a day. It's so exhausting and even some customer don't want to wear mask putting us at risk. Even no off during periods, off means salary cut. Now I stop working because salary is too small only 79.63$ a month, which is 6000rs in india. Selling vegetable near the road is more profitable and more peaceful and less tired.

Also another thing that doesn't get talked about is that it's also incredibly ableist. The way society bases worth on whether or not you are able to work is so awful. There are plenty of disabled people who wish they could work or wish they could have their dream job but can't and are labelled as "lazy" and "mooching off the government" like... disabled people deserved to afford to live, too.
EDIT: Also due to the pandemic, lots of people have developed long covid, making them newly disabled and unable to work the same way they used to. So the timing of this interview with Kim is even more out of touch.

This!! I have a learning disability and on top of that crippling mental illness. I try my best to be the best employee I can but often times I'm met with cut hours and snide comments from my employers. Even worse I feel like I cant disclose these problems to employers for fear of losing jobs or being treated differently.

I'm a teacher and I work SO hard. Teachers get dismissed because it's "easy" to just work with kids all day. I paid for my college. I worked full time while attending classes and living on my own. I spend unpaid hours making lesson plans and ensuring good classes. I spend my own money to try and give the kids the best experience possible. I get so frustrated by how belittled we are as a profession because we are helping shape future generations, and we get some of the worst pay in the country. I work SO so hard. And I get no gratification from it other than that of knowing I am making a difference in lives... (which is great, but man would I love to be able to afford a new car lol).

I can say with certainty that I JUST GOT LUCKY (Hiring manager used to shop at the exact retail store I worked at lmao). I applied 100+ places for beginner positions, part time, fully time, remote, hybrid, in person…. Got ghosted on all of them other than like 5 rejections.

That phrase sounds like 'surround yourself with people who are going to sacrifice their personal lives, be on your every call and accept a low financial compensation for the ability to put this experience into their CV' type of bullshit that business owners have been expecting from their workers for the longest time. Coupled with the grind culture it has been very easy to exploit people like this but since most of them are now waking up to the reality of it being just exploitation and not what they want their life to be, they want to set boundaries and a fair compensation instead. As they start to demand that a business owner like her will view it as 'people don't wanna work these days'.

It sucks that minimum wage jobs doesn't even pay a livable wage. Seeing the inflation of prices for everything happening right in front of my eyes is scary. Kim's comment about "get your butt off and work" doesn't help much as someone coming from a working class family, not a millionaire family like Kim's family. I just want the bills to be paid and still have savings for emergencies/for myself.

Those ladies might work hard, but the levels of physical, emotional, and mental stress are very different compared to the average person. Yes, you might work 8 hours on a photoshoot and it may be physically draining, but it's not being a nurse who works 13 hours, with ONE break, using every mental and physical ounce of energy saving people's lives. It's not being a manual laborer pushing their body to the absolute limit of endurance to harvest food. Big difference there, Kim.

I would even say there’s a huge disparity between her working maybe 8-10 hours on a photo shoot and the Production Assistant who has to work 1-2 hours before and after she arrives so that everything is as she likes it. A PA can’t have multiple jobs in a day and they get paid minimum wage, but in a place like LA where she lives, minimum wage is not livable. There is a disparity in stress even there that is likely invisible to her now.

Yes! I've been working 6 days a week and finally decided to go to urgent care for an ongoing issue (didn't wanna miss work to make a doc appt and eventually it got worse) and then they billed me for over $1000 dollars. That's WITH insurance. Like i can't even put my health first because then I'm left eith bills that i can't even afford because i can't work????
Things like this are why i have no sympathy for them. There's people literally working themselves to the ground just to get by but we're only human and are limited by our human bodies. We don't have the privilege of just telling others what to do or when to watch your kids any time it's needed.

I work in food service at a hospital, and for a hospital that feeds around 600-700 patients there are 6-7 people delivering trays and that’s on a good day. A normal day is about 5, it’s absurd.

As a neurodivergent person, I literally can't work because of understimulation and executive dysfunction, and very few employers would want to make accommodations for that, and to ask for them in the first place would risk me loosing the job for being autistic. So no, I literally cannot "get up and work," the world was not built for people like me.

I struggle with patience ( I think the construction workers / local council etc hate me 🫣, when I get fixated on something it and I want to do it right now !!! I’m pretty hard to work with and I’m veryyy specific ) but autistic people exist , I’m not doing it from a place of nastiness just anxiety mixed with high levels of passion for what I do . I hope I can make space for other autistic people in my business when I have the means to do so and give exposure to people to autistic business owners to the people that have to work with me. The world may not be built for people like us right now but I’m going to make everyone deal with me wether they want to or not because I know my flaws but I know I have strengths that no neurotypical could match even on their best day 🤷♀️

I have an aunt who is unmarried and doesn't have kids and her mortgage payment is literally $250/mo. She asked me how much I still had left to pay off my car (~$5k) and then gave me that money. Before I could even pay off my car, it broke down, my cat got horribly sick, and I moved. That $5k? Gone in less than a week and I STILL have my car payment and an additional $2k to pay off for my cat. It's just sickening. I'm working AND I came into (what I thought would be) life-changing money and I still somehow ended up behind. How does that make sense?

It varies, when you don't have much money to begin with any amount more than what you currently have seems appealing as if it'd change your life but 1K or more is the norm for what people make in a month when they are working. as someone who’s been working w mcdonalds for 4+ yrs i’d like to say THANK U for mentioning how mistreated fast food employees are and w as much as we’re exploited u could probably make a whole video on that alone! a ton of ppl fail to realize how young the staff is and how poorly the managers treat us. most times we don’t even get our 30min lunch breaks. the scary thing is how normalized and rewarded it is to put up w said exploitation.

I've been working here for nearly a year, and I can't say how many times I had to ask for a break because most of the time, male managers would "forget" to give breaks, especially to those who are 16-19 years old, and we had to ask for breaks multiple times before finally getting one of the last breaks of the night. Also, most of this age range is miserable and can be heard saying "I hate my job but I need the gas money/pay for car insurance/pay for summer classes" as they drink their second stolen coffee.
I worked at a fast food place for 2 weeks when I was 19- it was the worst experience of my life and I will forever be grateful to my mother who told me to quit, and that she would support me until I found another job. I know not everyone has that luxury so I’m glad I did.

Yes! I’ve worked multiple fast food/restaurant jobs and we are treated like dirt. I also feel that most people look down on us as well. There are exceptions where people treat us so sweet and those customers are the absolute best. But the bottom line is that we work hard, we do the jobs no one wants to do and are still not given the proper treatment by management and customers. I’ve had multiple managers that don’t care to give out breaks let alone just tell me I’m doing a good job. We work hard and hearing her say that we don’t work hard really made me upset because I’m going to school and I’m working, we are putting in the work, we just don’t have the resources that she has had. We all come from different places and have different experiences but we are working.
I'm so sick of the "WORK WORK WORK" mentality or how glorified it is to have a job 24/7 and making that the only way of getting even a MINIMUM income when that's just unfair for the lower class or for anyone who can relate to already having an awful 9 to 5 job.
I hat the privilege of living 2 years unemployed / freelancing illustrations for furries who paid amazingly well for a full colored drawing after I had to drop out of Uni and I had the time of my life having the most free time I could get, I had time to work on the mental health problems that school left me with, I got to hang out with my friends, I got to learn how to cook so many dishes for my mom and sister and more importantly I got time for myself to just lay down when I had bad mental health days which is something that EVERYONE deserves.
It took me not working or being a student to realize that those two things are absolute pain if it's not something for you and seeing people who haven't worked hard a day in their life, who were basically born in a golden crib be like "just get up and do the job🤪" gives me an actual headache fr.
Love how grounded and sensible your videos are. As for me, work is something you do to make a living, not something to live FOR. I’m tired of this hustle culture and the repeated speech that you should “follow your passion and pursue your dream” that blurs the limit between personal life and work and makes so many people frustrated. You CAN have a passion OUTSIDE of work. I really appreciate the privilege that after I leave my boring “9 to 5” I can completely disconnect from it. The whole place could burn to the ground and I could not care less! The thing is, there is NO such thing as the perfect job. There will always be nasty people and difficulties to face, no matter what you do. And no, I don’t want to work my ass off for a bunch of guys to fill their pockets while getting away with paying me little more than they have to by law. So I've been disabled since I was 25(im 32 now) and I would literally give or do *ANYTHING* to not be disabled and be able to work, but thats just not possible. I would honestly do anything to be able to go grocery shopping, and get everything I want, and not have to strictly plan what I get and only get things on the list that are within the budget. That alone is a massive privilege.
Right? “Just get off your ass and work” … well I’m partially disabled and some days I literally physically can not get up. My muscles sometimes don’t work well enough to stand or walk. I’m blessed/privileged because I’m only partially disabled and can hold down a full time job.

If I had a dime for the amount of times I've been called lazy or heard others been called lazy because they are physically and/or mentally unable to do certain things, I would have enough money to never have to hear someone call me lazy again.
I would also add that the 'advice' that Kim gave also kind of erases the struggles of those with mental illness, disabilities or chronic health conditions. Where the output of work they are able to give may be different from able bodied people with no health issues, mentally or physically. But those people are still giving it all while getting almost nothing for that work. Besides the fact that health/mental care is extremely expensive and all their money is going to pay that instead of a savings account.
I can relate to that first hand as my income goes to my trauma recovery, because surviving child abuse is seen as a personal and not a societal problem.

34:26 this reminded me about something that happened in my country (Brazil) that shaped how we saw the natives for years. When the Portuguese arrived and started colonizing the territory, they made the natives work, and the natives didn't like working to the bone, so they were known to rest when they were supposed to be working. That ended up creating the stereotype of the natives being lazy (when they just didn't want to work to the bone), which worsened the pre-existing racism against the natives and influencing how the country saw them for *years*.

A lot of millennials were raised by boomers, who taught us that there was some kind of reliable formula to success. "Just do X, Y, and Z, then you'll be successful!" When it didn't work out that way because the economy we live in now is completely different from the economy boomers came of age in, a lot of millennials felt betrayed and lied to. That's why millennials tend to be SALTY about this stuff.
Not only that, but the boomer marketing mindset is what got us to where we are now. Salesmanship turned into a culture of insatiable consumerism, nobody gave two cheeks about how things would develop in the long run because they expected technology to advance so fast and easy that all our problems would be solved before they even had any impact, and now the people who are supposed to advance humanity and technology are so depressed and unmotivated (if they made it do adulthood instead of making the choice to unlife themselves) that nothing is likely to actually get moving in time.
As a partially disabled high school science teacher who works 65 hours a week, this infuriates me. I’m a millennial with $56k in student debt and I only make $34k/year! I can barely afford food and rent and student loans and all my other bills.
Edit: Please don’t comment to move somewhere that pays more because I’ve looked at the teacher pay in major cities and if you adjust for the cost of living teachers in big cities make just as much or even less. The area where I live at is very affordable but still, $34k doesn’t get far anywhere, especially since about $9k gets taken for taxes and my health insurance is $3k per year.

I worked for 5 years as a personal assistant 8-3 full time and I was at just the poverty line or below it and never became permanent
Living in the city doesn’t always guarantee you’ll get the higher paying position

There is a change coming. The "I dont want a career" trend is big rn because people are OVER IT. I think people are waking up to we work so much for material things and its not worth it anymore. More time off, not even paid just literally days off where its not a big deal to take off. I work in a factory and in 5 years have worked myself up to having 21 paid vacation days. After that no more days. There is no reason to LIVE your one life this way. And people are waking up!!

Kim's words really hit me hard. I was working two jobs until my reliable job was allowing for minors to get SA and treated the workers poorly. Im 18 in (southern) California and 15/hr can barely pay for gas now. I cry most nights because I can see myself falling into poverty because I cant even afford an apartment here. Cheapest is 2 grand for a 1 bedroom apartment. While I drive by a construction zone every day where they are building hundreds of 4 bedroom homes for the rich starting at 600 grand. The world is horrible and soon the class divide will be so far apart from eachother people making 1 mil a year will be considered poor.
I totally relate to this, I'm 19, making minimum wage, and living in southern California as well. Even with roommates, I don't think I could reliably afford an apartment right now, I can't afford a car to get myself places, AND there's the massive burden of paying for college. I also regularly feel like I'm just going to be poor for the rest of my life. It's a scary place to be. That's what makes Kim's words so angering, that feeling of wondering how the hell you're going to survive is something I'm sure she's never experienced.

I used to work at banana republic with a lot of hard working Mexican and Vietnamese girls. Like as first gen or immigrants I think we do put pressure on ourselves to “get up and work”. But when we talked wages we found out the high school white boys who were just there to have extra ouid money were getting a whole dollar more than the us. Which shows that u can work hard and still get underpaid. Black and Latina women are severely underpaid and it’s definitely not because they don’t work hard. Anyway gap inc sucks and there was severe Latinophobia from the higher ups.

COVID and the lockdowns in the UK really highlighted just how important our nurses are, sales assistants in supermarkets, drivers, teachers - non of these are particularly well paid jobs but these people are the backbone of our society. They work god damn hard - such a shame that hard you work doesn’t equate to the amount of money you make or a better standard of living
Nurses are paid very well, but other medical staff are paid so poorly sometimes you can make more in fast food or retail; CNA's, phlebotomists, patient transport, patient access, etc.
@@rachelgpryor Depends on the country but at least here in Germany, Nurses have one of the lowest incomes. And that's including many 48hr shifts. It's the same in many other countries because generally, jobs in the social field have shitty pay.
The wealth imbalance is actually staggering. There are people out there who if they burned half of their money, they'd still have enough left to live in luxury for the rest of their life... and then there's the rest of us, struggling to survive to the next pay check.

On a serious note, I feel that cost of living vs wage increase every day. My partner and I are living in the cheapest apartment we’ve ever lived in - $670 a month including utilities, sewage etc. The power bill fluctuates for usage but on a good month is like $45, and in a few years we will no longer be able to afford to live here despite it being “affordable housing” because they are going to raise it to over a thousand. We already can’t afford anything else in the area, including the “cheaper” areas. I’m a full time university student and my boyfriend has a bachelor’s degree, works for one of the largest car rental companies in the world (if not THE largest), and is number one in the region (with LITERAL trophies to show), has broken several rental and sales records, and sees absolutely none of his hard work in his paycheck - he actually does more work for less money than the people before him, because they quit since they were facing the same wage problem. He is absolutely MISERABLE and is actively job hunting, but has been put on the back burner for months because every interview he goes to he mentions that he cares about having his time at home to spend with his loved ones, handle business, get enough sleep and be able to stay in shape and they immediately do a 180. He always asks for feedback on the interview if they say they picked someone else and never gets a response. He LITERALLY cannot find work because he wants a reasonable schedule. Everybody wants to work, nobody wants to be abused by their employer, and employers only want workers they can exploit.

Also would just like to say, as a former fast food worker, anytime I go through a drive-thru I am as kind as I can possibly be even if the other person sounds like they absolutely hate me on the other end. Literally one time I went through a long line at Taco Bell and when I got to the window and talked with the girl as I was about to leave she literally said “thank you for being so nice to me“ and it just makes me so sad to think about how horrible people are every single day to these young people. Especially because I was one.. just be kind to people you really don’t know how much it can effect someone.

I’m surprised penny didn’t talk about nursing and how nurses are leaving the bedside, not because they don’t want to work but because of the unrealistic expectations the workplace has on bedside nurses. Nurses are hard workers and deserve so much more for what they do.
I run a business, homeschool my kid, and keep my house. If I don't wanna "get my ass up and work" on any given day, it's probably because I'm sick. Like the awwwwdacity of this woman with her nannies, and household help, and accountants doing for her the things that fall squarely on my shoulders everyday is just a lot 🤣🤣.

Kim has something that most everyday business Women don't have. She has time. She doesn't have to cook, clean or look after her kids. If her car breaks down, she doesn't have to worry about taking it in for repairs. She has people for all that. People doing her makeup, people helping her achieve her silhouette. She doesn't do any of it on her own. If she wants to sit there an focus on her business, she can, without worry. She has that luxury. We all have the same 24 hours in our day, but if you don't have maids, cooks, nannies, personal trainers, or private jets, your 24 hours are not the same as Kim's 24 hours.

Oh wow 😳 I've never worked in that kind of food service, however I do work other retail related positions-- once as both a cashier and stocker and currently in a deli that's within a ~fancy~ grocery store. I always make sure to say thank you whenever I can, even in drive thrus and honestly thank you doesn't even cover it for all the stuff a lot of yall have to deal with. If I had the money to give all of yall raises and promotions and the power to demote/fire the assholes, I would in a HEARTBEAT.

Kim's employees who make her wealth need to unionize. They're the ones who actually make the products, the products which then generate revenue.
We should also mention financial capital, the "passive income" whose initial capital is based on surplus value from the exploitation. Her entire family and other billionaires pedal the "we work hard to get here" argument to avoid talking about who is behind the curtains that make up their wealth.

Guys, thanks for making this video. I have seen the Kim clip, and it took all the air out of my tank. But seeing this, and hearing your realistic and genuinely relatable stance on wealth and privilege and how hard it is, really made me feel like I'm not alone struggling.

Can we talk about how discrimitory this is to disable people? There are people who literally can't get up. They get paid less even if they have get work harder, specially if they have they have a physical disability. Or if they have a mental disability people don't tend to understand how exhausting it can be for a person like this. It's harder to get hired as a disable person. And also, don't get me started on HOW DAMN EXPENSIVE LIFE CAN GET WHEN YOU ARE DISABLE!!!!!! For so many pople it doesn't make the cut. They have to think about meds, check ups, physical or mental therapy/assistance, therapy and other stuff, and that doesn't includes all the things people need (rent, food, water, gas and etc).
Something I've noticed is that as soon as wages go up, prices too. Even if it's little by little. Companies still make up on the money spent on wages. And money is worth less after each increase. It's a never ending cycle. Benefits are also never enough to compensate for the loss of spending power.
I agree with a lot that was said in this video. I am disabled but work nearly full time 34-36hrs a week and also attend college full time. I’d give anything to not have to work as much as I do. I also feel like my workplace doesn’t respect when I am sick and bedridden because they expect too much out of me. However I have to make a point that in my area at least, people my age are genuinely lazy and that’s because if they can can’t pay their bills that month their parents pay it for them, no questions asked. They never have to worry about making ends meet on their own terms. They also spend their paychecks on going to bars and large shopping trips then complain about how broke they are and how they only have $5 left in their bank account. It’s really shocking. They also get to call off for being hungover without much repercussions but when I call off because of disability reasons, I am berated by my GM and given the silent treatment for a week. I usually live paycheck to paycheck, but I’d never ask so much from my parents. I come from a family that does not come from generational wealth, and I’d feel bad taking my parents hard earned money, even if there was an emergency. My parents love me a lot and they’d do anything for me but I respect them too much. Just because I am their child doesn’t mean I’m entitled to their money, I’m an adult now too. I’ve worked 4 jobs in my lifetime in different areas and it’s the same situation every time. Many kids around me have it so easy and I honestly wish I didn’t have to work so much to make ends meet, but once I graduate I’ll at least have more free time, will have a higher paying job, and will have good foundations for my future success. I won’t be wealthy like the Kardashians, and it won’t all be sunshine and rainbows, but I think I will eventually be comfortable. Anyways sorry for the rant! Love the videos ❤️
