Lived in LA for a bit, received a crap ton of advice from a crap ton of different sources. Your videos have helped me more than any in person interactions out here, keep it up!
I'm a young aspiring actor in Australia and everytime I see a video pop up I jump on it as quick as I can! Always enjoy what you do, so amazing to watch and to aspire to even over seas
I get so excited when I see you pop up in my notifications. I'm moving out to LA at the end of the year and your videos have already helped me out so much
Hi Willy! I just moved to the area from SF. I also make acting related videos and share as much as I can to help other actors. Your videos were recommended to be a while ago when I was looking for a place to live in LA. You have lots of great info. Thanks for sharing 👍
I just binge watched all your videos and i want to say, thank you for all the tips and advices! I'm sure you'll grow bigger as an actor! I'm trying to transfer your advices, to Greeces acting community. I wanted to become an actor since i was 5 years old, but i was a coward and started 2 years ago at the age of 36. I'm doing everything, theatre plays, spots, standup comedy. Thank you for the motivation. Keep it up!
@@WillyDubz haha word. I loved when you started talking about staples…Question Will, I’m an aspiring TV Sitcom Writer, can pilot season benefit me in any way? Or is it mostly for actors? Should I factor pilot season into my plans? Many thanks!
Hey Will, recently just decided to follow my passion in acting and your videos are inspiring me and giving me vital advice all the way from Ireland!!! I am hoping to move to LA in about 9months to a year and your videos are making me so excited but also giving me a great insight that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows and how to deal with that how to deal with the no’s and some of the setbacks. Upload more!!!!!
Nathan Sweeney how r u gonna move to US from Ireland because I’m currently living in Europe ( Belgium) and I want to move to US for acting but I dont know how.
i would love to see a video for kid actors on how to start in the industry but live on the east coast. i love watching your videos but it is hard to do all this a teenager whose parents still aren’t on board with you :)
Hey Will that's very proactive of you and probably the requirement for staying best at the game. I have been watching your videos for a while now but it's the first time that I am writing. You provide accurate information with simplicity I like that.
TheWillyDubz I’m moving to LA in literally less than 2 weeks. SoOo scared!!! Lmao trying to find a good, safe neighborhood so I’m watching your how to move video on repeat
Hi will could you please go a reel specific video. Your videos are helping me understand what I need to do to help get into acting as it's something I have always wanted to do for such a long time however never made any move on it and next September I will be taking on a proforming art's course at college
Hey Will, I REALLY appreciate all of your videos. And this one is no exception. You said that if we would like a video expressly about reels to mention it in the comments. I would really like your info on reels please.
hey Will, really love your videos. I love acting but my true passion is writing. I know thats not strictly your field, but I was still hoping maybe on one of these videos you can tell us how we may be able to get productions jobs on the field. That can maybe help lead us to a job in the industry? Thanks again love the videos !!!!
Hey Max, my passion is writing as well. Look up Erik Bork on line. He was Tom Hanks' personal assistant and as a result got a job as a writer on "From here to the Moon" and became one of the lead writers on "Band of Brothers" I am submitting my screenplay to him for feedback! He is a really helpful guy and maybe able to help you. Good luck!
I write all these videos and I want to write a screenplay at some point. Right now I’ve been reading “Save the Cat” (screenwriting book) and have been enjoying that. As for other jobs in the industry, I recommend helping friends out with projects and making some yourself. Student films are a great way to get A LOT of experience. While I don’t know a ton about starting in production (other than acting) I have noticed that my proximity to projects (TH-cam, friends’ projects and paid work) offer opportunities to get in on the ground floor as something else entirely. For example: I’ve been offered work casting projects with friends and I do extensive behind the scenes production work on Andie’s (my girlfriend’s) channel. In other words, start looking up what you want to do and how to try do it. Jump at the opportunity for anything close to what you might want to do and see how it turns out! You’d be surprised at all the crazy ways life can teach you things!
TheWillyDubz thank you Will. And that’s great advice. I really appreciate the reply as well. I will def do as many projects as i can 👌🏼. Can’t wait for more videos as wel
Jan Slovioček I would look up what kind of local opportunities are casting in your area. It’s easier than ever to film anywhere, and people are always looking forward to the next story we haven’t heard before. Start local and then expand into bigger markets (the uk) etc.
Thx so much for the great info I'm just struggling now on finding if acting really what i want i love it and I'm passionate about it but for me is almost impossible learning the accent and traveling to us and starting new life and being an actor at the begining made me happy but when i start searching and learning about the business i freaked out there plus I'm following some one called Wendy Alane Wright talent manager it's also helpful , But I'm really lost right now
Hey Will! I’ve been watching your acting videos this past week and they are awesome! I would love to see more, like how you mentioned the demo reel video. Some questions I have are, did you edit it yourself? If you did, which program did you use? Did you add music in the background? And I would love some insight on more the profiles like Backstage/ImbdPro Like do you have to pay for them? If so how much? And do you feel they actually work? I’ve heard mixed reviews! Thank you so much for all your content, sending my gratitude from FL 🙌🏼
Jenae Clark yes! They work for sure. It’s just a matter of time and patience and having a great profile! Watch my HOW TO MOVE TO LA video. I cover most of those questions there. I edit my reels myself (not too hard) even for someone with no editing experience! I’ll do a reel specific video though!
Question about headshots. I've gained a little bit of weight since my last headshot and have decided to stop acting until I lose the weight again. Should I wait to lose the weight? so I can keep that headshot longer or should I do one now? and update it again sooner. one side of me says to wait while the other says to do it now.
ZERVII If you’re going out on auditions then you need a headshot that looks like you. The roles you go out for will change if you’ve gained weight, but it doesn’t mean you have to work any less. It’s up to you!
I am going to LA the End of February till the End of April for this year polit season, I have Headshot and resume and can even do measurements for website and profile for my daughter and myself but we both are new to this it will be our first time and we have no reels.. Will that be an issue for us?
SIR AS I AM FROM INDIA I ALSO WANT TO BE AN ACTOR .ALL THE STUFFS YOU SHARE ARE VERY USEFUL TO US BUT, THE THING I CANT UNDERSTAND IS SHOULD I BE HERE IN INDIA AND APPLY FOR SAG,IMBD AND ALL THAT STUFFS OR SHOULD I HAVE TO MOVE TO LA.

Hi Will Actually I started auditioning for various student projects etc.. I just would like to know how difficult it is to get roles in those movies. How often should I book a role (1 out of 10?) when attending auditions. So far I did 4 auditions and got no callback. But my auditions went at least decent or good according to the casting directors feedback. Btw: How often do u audition per week? Thanks for ur content and ur replies. Cheers 😄
Aww... come on. Will has the potential to steal the scene. Who wouldn't google Will Westwater to watch something because he's in it? Writers have now loads of time to sit quietly and create masterpieces. I feel great parts are coming : )

PLEASE MAKE A REEL SPECIFIC VIDEO. LIKE YESTERDAY... PLEASE.
do I still have to move to LA for pilot season or will they allow self tapes from our agents in other states?
It depends. Some jobs allow nationwide submissions, but a lot of them require you to be a local hire.
Hi Will
Actually I started auditioning for various student projects etc.. I just would like to know how difficult it is to get roles in those movies. It’s more like 1/100. For student films it might be more like 1/20.
I audition about 2-4 times a week. Many of those are voiceover jobs.
I’m booking more consistently now, but for the first couple years it was ROUGH. It is a game of patience.
Alright. Good to know.
Thank u Will and good luck 🍀 😄
