For the weapon and console two peace, you go the wrong type of polaron beam. So the ship in reality would be doing even better especially cuz the lukari polaron beam array has a bonus damage while under beam overload.

To me , exchange traits like Adaptive Offense, Terran Vision, Unconventional Systems, and even The Boilmer Trait were something of a grey area for F2P. On one hand you can potentially find these traits for a reasonal price for EC and thru Admiralty system, Tour of the Galaxy, and even Fleet duty officers can easily reach the EC to get them from the exhange. But on the other hand someone at some point spent Zen/ IRL money to get those traits and put them in the exchange.
You made this for that chat member that was concerned about his Polaron Overload performing in the Red Alerts, didn't you? Even if it were just coincidence, you have effectively shown how to do a nice Budget+ build. For a real easy super-budget build, just transfer the cannon, turret, damage console and weapon power console from the Fighter to the Bug ship. Swap out the beam, kinetic resistance console, one torp, and the quantum damage console to the Fighter. Set your Bridge officers to have a sort of Drake cooldown with the cannon firing modes. If you want to get real creative, retrain your skills to give yourself maximum Readiness until you can get to a Boff trainer. You'll have access to more retrains at T6 reps. I only made a recruit for the purpose of using the Rep dil vouchers to unlock all of the Rep discounts on my F2P account. I actually moved him over to the Mirror Gagarin using a bone stock Plasma beam overload build. I already had the gear and didn't want to grind out any other weapons or sets. I am actually going to relocate him back to the T5-U ship but keep the Plasma setup. My main account's Vanguard flew the default bug ship as his flag ship, using Dominion Polaron beams in a BFAW setup. I just picked up the Legendary bug ship bundle for the traits and he has since switched over to that.

You seem to be talking as if the Advanced Thoron Infused Polaron Beam Array is in the same set as the Piezo-Electric Focuser, but it is not (as the tool tips show). So which set is it you really want to use? I assume the Lukari set with the console you slotted and the Advanced Piezo-Electric Energy Weapon.
That's a good catch. I'll assume that Stu was looking at the Advanced Piezo Polaron because of the Technical Overload during Beam Overload. That would be hilarious if he dragged the wrong beam over from his inventory.
It's so funny to think about when the "Bug" was the single best ship in the game for tactical cannon builds. Everyone wanted it. Now, years later, we have a slightly different version for free, and it's not even close to the best ship for anything.
I've only been playing since January but I can't even imagine a time when the bug ship was the meta for anything. Weird. The game must have been super different 12 years ago.
@@dhotnessmcawesome9747 That was back when T5 ships were the most powerful, no fleet ships, no T5-U, no T6, so ships like that were just more powerful. Five tactical consoles and good weapons layout was amazing back then, because there weren't a ton of damage-increasing consoles elsewhere, or overpowered traits like we have now.
Rep gear isnt as bad as it used to be as you will have tons of rep only del hitting tier 5. To the point you can just go ham if you want to try different things. Cant go wrong with the 8472 trop for example.

@@nolgroth yep, generates too much power cost versus how much damage it does. They fixed that with the Maquis Raider experimental weapon which is basically the same except it deals fire damage.

Weirds me out putting beams on the bug ships. One reason I never did an overload build on it. Always felt like the quintessential cannon ship.
I agree, but for new players i think beams are much easer to pilot.

that is not a piezo two piece. the weapon is not piezo polaron.
