The prolonged engagement set is a must. Best thing about it is that if you have it on one toon, you can just got to the reclaim section of the dilithium store on new chars and get it as soon as you get your first ship.
Yeah, definitely one of the best free leveling kits. Later on, it's rather restricted in potency at higher levels. The other Phoenix store consoles are also quite useful, especially for antiproton builds.

Very different than my F2P Jarok. I leaned into the Sci-Torp aspect and loaded up on the Temporal abilities and anomalies like Very Cold in Space and Grav Well. Haven't parsed yet, but it seems to do okay.
A couple of Budget Exchange trait suggestions (in case Emergency Weapon Cycle is out of your reach.;
1. One Impossible Thing at a Time- this is one of my favorite traits, not because it is OP, but because of the positive feedback loop it creates. When you use a Captain ability, it reduces the cooldown on any other Captain abilities. So the more Captain abilities you use, the more often they cooldown. This gives you the opportunity to employ some of your most powerful abilities without having to save them as much. Intelligence Agent Attache' does the same thing, but uses a Space trait slot and procs on Critical Hits. It also costs 5-6x (or more) as much. One Impossible Thing at a Time usually runs a couple of million on the Exchange but I've seen it as low as 180k EC and as high as 8 million.
2. Onboard Dilithium Recrystallizer- See Stu1701's channel for details, but combined with either the console from the T1 Oberth (best option) or the console from the KDF Recruitment Bird of Pray, you can get some seriously generous amounts of Cat-2 damage boost. Usually runs about 2 million EC on the Exchange, though shortly after Stu1701 started proselytizing its usefulness, it jumped up to 6-8 million. Was back down to 2 million last night.
Scylla (pronounced sill-uh), Charybdis (pronounced ka-rib-dis). I am going to try this build out, would like it better if when one unlocks the mission items, all on an account can get it instead of constant mission repeat. Thank you for this!

Good general overview for players new to carriers. Yes, Swarmer Matrix is a must have.
My two cent:
1.) Dedicate a toon/character to carriers. Coordination Protocols, Defensive Coordination and Offensive Coordination are big difference makers for pets but of little good to everything else.
2.) Personal Space Trait: Wing Commander is great on a carrier focused toon but will hardly be noticed on a casual carrier user.
3.) Carriers are science heavy in regard to seating and consoles and short on weapons for a reason. Furthermore, pets run on AUX (just like science abilities) and do NOT benefit from tactical or defensive consoles unless specifically noted.
My solution, which I'm very happy with, was to build most carriers as drain builds and run on full AUX nearly all of the time.
On my Jarok I run:
Temporal Defense Initiative shield with 3 piece Bajor Defense set. The deflector is rerolled to 3x DrainX.
2 piece Quantum Phase torp (fore) and console.
2 piece Nukara mission set dual beam and console.
Resonating Tetryon dual beam.
Omni- Antichroniton Infused Tetryon
Crafted Omni- Tetryon.
Gravimetric Torp. (rear).
X4's Exotic Particle Focuser x2 DrainX.
Lorca's Custom Fire Controls.
Sensor Suspension Burst.
High-Energy Communications Network console; from Yo'Devwl Support Carrier.
Conductive RCS w/ Power Transfer rate.
Swarmer Matrix.
Aceton Assimilator (if you have Experimental upgrade).
Ship traits: Relaunch & Repair, Pilfer Power, Critical Systems, Command Frequency, Improved Going the Extra Mile.
Drain won't show up in a parse but everything within 5km has no shields, weak weapons, limps along and dies quickly. Meanwhile I feed my teammates heals and buffs.
I don't think carriers are at a disadvantage; they're just misunderstood. I've done everything the "experts" say not to do and as a result created team supporting wrecking ball of a ship. My Yo'Devwl is even better.

I just transfer your "mission reward phaser beam budget" to this carrier, upgrade to ship to get the extra universal console to put in carrier console. It works. I learn something new in this vid, especially the traits, bridge officer skills and duty officer. keep up the good work stu.

While looking wistfully at this I noticed the date, it hurts. This is one of my favorite looking ships and works wonderfully with the lore of my main character and I missed it by a few months as I started playing around July.
I really like this build because MC Stu don't judge if you don't have the build completed yet. That's what all true warriors strive for, to finish the build, but many of us have captains who are still "WIP," and that's okay!
Hey MC Stu, i wanted to add that Auxillary Power does not only higher your chrit Chances and Damage with Temporal Disentanglement , it also lowers your hangar cooldown which is very important for small hangar crafts, because of their less survivability. + There are cheap very rare Flightdeck Doffs on the exchange that gives +10% to Hangar Pets that are in Escort Mode and are 3 times stackable.

Another device I like is the Reactive Armor Catalysts from the mission Broken Circle. Good hull healing for a consumable that is craftable.
the wiki says it gives 5525hp? that's very insignificant but I have a feelings its wrong

If the Swarmer Matrix is out of budget for a F2P player, the Polaric Modulator would be a good substitution.

Got mine a few days back and finally finished equipping it. Took out for a spin today and it's pretty slick. I went with a torp build, but either I've buggered something up or it glitches because I can't autofire my torps and putting them on manual then hitting space bar does nothing. I have to manually click each torp to fire and end up completely losing track of what's going on in the battle.
It’s ctrl+space to fire torps.
For me the Jarok is much more effective as a EPG/torp boat. It's harder to get good mission rewards for such a build, but still doable. Just stay at a distance, contain enemies with Gravity well, let your pets soften them up and finish them off with hard hitting torp spreads. Use plasma/radiation focused torps together with the Fek'ihri torment engine for extra DOT ooomph.
Another tip: Wing Commander is an essential carrier space trait to get your pets to get to max Lvl rapidly. It really makes a HUGE difference in making your pets more survivable and more effective overall. Get it if you can, it's somewhat expensive on the exchange but still affordable.
being expert carrier player you need auxillery power. they affect pet speed and dmg..... and you dont need that much engine power either
The only thing I find odd about this ship is the 3 front/3 rear weapon slots. For such a big ship I was expecting either a 4/4 or 5/3. Not the biggest complaint in the world but just something that stood out to me
It was F2P for the duration of the event. Now it is something totally different story.
That mission name bugged the hell out of me until I looked it up and remembered where I know the name from. It's Greek mythology, and it's pronounced like "si-la" and "ka-rib-dis"

Radiant detonation is very bad. I used to use but checking on the meter it procs terribly. A good option I usually put on fresh characters is the Temporal trait to reduce BOFs CDs. It's a gain in survivability and dps in the end and CD reduction is always something we should try to have in the builds.

Little late here,but the names you tried pronouncing are pronounced as "Silla" and "Ka-rib-dis" the 2 monsters from the novel "The Odyssey". Scylla was a supernatural female creature, with 12 feet and six heads on long snaky necks, each head having a triple row of sharklike teeth, while her loins were girdled by the heads of baying dogs. Charybdis, who lurked under a fig tree a bowshot away on the opposite shore, drank down and belched forth the waters thrice a day and was fatal to shipping. Her character was most likely the personification of a whirlpool.

my first T6 ever was the temer ...since then i got quite an arsenal of ships on many mnay chars ....so getting the big brother of the temer is nice... my "new" klingon chracter is playing with this ship and eventhoughi hardly play carriers (im a dreadnaught lover) ... i must say i d like the "point ...click.... minions swarm target and ..point... click and so on...
ow i was wondering .. i outfitted it with antiproton overal...does that (antiproton buffs)affect my minions???

I was binge watching all of your videos about builds. And I got an idea for a build for my caitian t5u sci carrier. I use my pets basically none stop. And I want to break away from my typical builds. So I wanna try a tank build where I can sit and camp and just deploy pets nonestop. I was thinking I'd use mines for my personal defense and maybe a front cannon or torpedo. My question is it that a viable idea? And if so could you make a video. This is a maxed out fedrom and I'm planning on switching him to a paid toon. Or can I just mix your tank build advice with pet and mine videos? Would everything gel well in actual battle and not just on paper?
So, question. What do you think about a build based around just stacking base damage as high as you can get it via set bonuses, universal consoles, etc?

Regarding the "epic" level of the gear; you're going to need a lot of dilithium for that. In the time you gather all that dilithium, you might be all done with all the reputations, depending on where you where with these when you started the game...
Either that you you can get the highest level reputation gear a few days after you've "epic-ed" your gear...
Nope, if you grind enough Omega tech upgrades from the yearly anniversary event (with multiple toons) and throw in a few Phoenix tech upgrades, you can bring a ship's entire gear up to max for quite cheap (free). And if you grind plenty of the daily anniversary Omega molecule stabilization rewards and pick the 25k experience bonus pool from the Emote box every time, you can sell each one for 2.5 million+ EC on the exchange.
I have ground those out quite intensely in the past weeks and amassed 100+ tech upgrades and 80+ xp bonus tokens (a dozen or so which i invested into quick leveling my Klingon recruit) just by playing multiple hours daily. Also refined a few 100k dilithium on my 6 current toons. This has allowed me to max out the equipment on 2 ships and ground gear sets, plus giving me the value of around 15 million EC per day, which i can now invest into traits & consoles. Got myself the swarmer matrix console & Carrier Wave Shield Hacking trait for my Jarok for example.
It was quite the slog, but i now have considerable resources and high lvl equipment, all within a few weeks work. And my new Klingon recruit, which i created at the first day of the event and played at least an hour every day since, is still not at T5 in every rep yet, despite being fully sponsored.
@@axelhopfinger533 i didn't know how important those things where when i started and that i'd need to play the minigame until i could rollover the old "klax" arcade machine. Depending on your luck as well as your patience in the minigame all your omega upgrades might not be enough to make all your gear shiny and golden...
@@madman123456 Well, the minigame is tedious and repetitive if you grind it hardcore like i did and i have had enough of it for another year at least.
But the Omega tech upgrades are the ones giving you the highest chance for higher item quality (4x) in the game next to the ultimate tech upgrades. And if you start out with a very rare quality item, it's almost impossible not to get them to ultra rare at least while upgrading to lvl XV.
The Omega Quality tech upgrades even raise that chance to 8x, but those cost 5500 dilithium to fabricate, making them significantly more expensive.
Still, once a year at least you can grind out all the tech upgrades you need to play in the big boys league for free and multiple times a year you'll get upgrade weekends which double their effectiveness. So even brand new F2P players technically have the chance to max out their gear if they put in the work and play it smart.
And if you play the current year long event campaign, you'll even be able to get your hands on some of the rarest and most powerful ships & items in the game. And earn yourself some pretty good stuff in the meantime. You just either gotta put in the time & dedication, or the money.

I did the event to unlock this carrier..I have it on my main and one other toon on my account..I recently tried to acquire it for another character of mine but can't find it anywhere..all of these characters are on same account. I must have forgot where to look for it..can anyone help please?
In to the event tab in the mission journal and at the bottom left it says reclaim.

The most likely way would be if they were to add it to the Muds store at some point. That is what they have done with other event ships.

My Away Team seems to do just fine. Here is some unsolicited build advice. Read or ignore at your pleasure.
2 Temp Ops (any career)
2 Command (Science + any)
Just use the default abilities for the Temp Ops specializations. You don't have to buy or train anything beyond the Specialization Qualification.
For the Science/Command: Ens: Vascular Regen | Lt: Hammer and Anvil II | LtC: Return Fire I | Cdr: Dampening Field I or II
Other Command: Ens: Take Cover I | Lt: Hammer and Anvil II | LtC: Strategic Analysis II | Cdr: Return Fire II or III
Equip them all with Pahvan Healing Crystals, Rainbow Tribbles, and Frequency Remodulators. Maybe toss a combat pet on a couple of them. Equip two with split beam rifles and two with full-auto rifles.
Slot the EMH Mark I from the Delta Quadrant mission "All That Glitters." Fill in your other Doffs to fit your Captain abilities or needs.
I think you'll find that your Away Team becomes much more effective. I certainly have improved my Ground game with that setup. It's like "Easy" mode now.

For my free account and free build; I classify "free" as not needing to spend IRL money.
The CHA is a Ka sound. So Ka-Rib-Dis and well the first part is close to sela from star trek. So just say that and you can make it an inside joke. Sela and KA-rib-Dis.

After getting the Jarok, I was really sad. It's about 33% too big. It should be no wider than a D'deridex, but it's about half-again as big. Really disappointing. I don't like flying around colossal ship. JH Vanguard carrier is about my upper limit. And the Jarok makes that ship look like a toy.
Also, if full carriers need a perk to bring them back up to competition with the 4/4 carriers, how about a third hangar bay?
