I love hearing from people who get into the campaigns. I’ve said many, many times I’m not into the campaigns. They don’t do much for me. It’s great to see people who like it-that’s just another way the game caters to a wide range of people who enjoy different parts of the game. Great breakdown, thanks for taking the time to go through all of this!! This is a unique topic and you could def do more on this niche within MC.
Yeah, some campaigns I don't like the extra stuff like AoA's side missions I don't like, but you can still do the campaigns without these. I love how each encounter connects to the next somehow and some campaigns connect to the next one too. This was meant to be a 15 minute video but I ended up getting into each scenario in all campaigns! This is what happens when I don't do a layout and just start recording off a whim.
@@danthecrow1701 some people don’t consider the core set as a campaign even though the scenarios follow on after the other, just because it’s short and doesn’t have campaign aesthetics like side missions or special upgrades it’s still a campaign. The OG campaign. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Great topic! I personally really like the stories in MC, but just looking at Facebook it seems like a lot of people only play the campaigns once and then only do single scenarios after that. I've played every campaign except for GMW at least 3 times (and Next Evolution like 25 times at this point).
I feel more people overlook the overall story. Like absorbing man, people will play him and not know why delay counters are going on the main scheme. There's a deeper story being told within these scenarios which I love. Along with the fact that we get to replay these stories with different characters.
@ZiggyZ55Z I think each box is enough. You go through scenarios fast enough that it would be excessive to breakdown "Rhino - time, Klaw - time, Ultron - Time."
Have you noticed the trend set? (Commenting BEFORE viewing) the first three expansions were connected (Infinity Saga), then and interruption with Sinister Motives. Then three new expansions connected (Mutant Saga). Next we are getting the SHIELD expansion…presumably an interruption before a new three expansion saga. I’m looking forward to what is to come.
I have noticed that and I bring it up in the video. I don't think Shield will continue into a larger story, like you said it's a filler. But who knows maybe it will.
@@ZiggyZ55Z I play them with one of the included pre-con decks (sometimes both). When playing some (cough* GMW *cough) campaigns, I decided that I would play on Standard, and allow myself to call it a win if I achieved a Skirmish victory (because I am playing for the story experience). I am currently replaying some at expert level (RotRS and Mutant Genesis) with my favorite decks to test them. I’m getting ready to run Sinister Motives in Expert. However, it is actually a real challenge. Those extra side schemes can be really annoying.
I played one campaign. I didn’t find the story interesting and I didn’t feel like it added anything worthwhile to the gameplay, so I’ve stayed away since. To be fair, I’m an avid comic reader, so my expectations for the quality may be unfairly high. That being said, I’m glad they exist. I know lots of people love them, and if these campaigns keep those people buying and enjoying the game, then that’s awesome. Let’s keep this game going strong for years to come! My only real criticism for the story/campaign is when it encroaches on the stand-alone scenario in nonsensical ways. I’m specifically thinking of Next Evolution, which forces Hope Summers into three scenarios. Outside the campaign, that makes no sense. If they’d keep that kind of stuff to the campaign rules, I’d be very happy.
@@mitch-TO yeah I can see that coming from a comic reading perspective. The story doesn’t go too deep to entice the players, it’s still a card game after all. I always find it interesting that some scenarios you play there’s a bigger picture than just, defeat the villain. Something else behind the story and gameplay.
@@metascrub285 as far as I’ve noticed the scenario packs don’t correlate with the larger campaign boxes. Each scenario pack tells its own story. Except maybe the two green goblin encounters, they don’t seem to connect. The only scenario pack that fits campaign is mojo mania with its three scenarios follow each other like the core box does. But the scenario packs don’t correlate with the bigger ones sadly. It would be awesome if the scenario packs would branch off from the boxes. For example, the outcome of a campaign boxes story like Sinister Motives, Norman gets arrested so a scenario pack could be the Hobgoblin trying to break him out or something like that.
the story is great for sure don't get me wrong but some are just less contected to eachother like the hood, green goblin, and obviously sisnter motive people say the sinsiter motive can lead to the agents of shield but i'm not convinced
@@mabos555 yeah, I don’t hit much on the scenario packs since they don’t contribute much to the campaigns besides mojo mania being its own campaign. Yeah some think sinister motives was a fill in campaign in between the infinity trilogy and X-men trilogy, some think the shield will just be an “in between” campaign as we.
Yeah it probably will be If you less care about leaks the new box is about the f4 and the inhumans are in the cycle... This in my opinion this time the shield box won't be a filler one

Really enjoyed this…. The Ultron main schemes are some of my favourite for this reason.
Think I might crack the core set out Today

Great topic, time stamps would be a great addition.
@@TheMaskedHero what are you thinking? Stamps for campaigns or all scenarios?

Also, I like how the book includes images of other playable characters. Like how AoA includes Magneto in the comic, then he comes out later.
