The KSM/AOTC catalyst change is a nerf for folls outside of Mythic Raiders early on. A guaranteed hero track item early in M+ pushing/Heroic raid prog (pre mythic raid time frame) for ANY tier slot is huge. Yes technically hero track stuff -can- drop from M+ and raid, but its not a guaranteed option like the omni tolen was. This is a net nerf for most folks.
The token was better for alts for sure. There have been plenty of times where I filled that slot with the token because I couldn't get an item to drop.
I feel like all very rare items from raid should drop on this 14 step upgrade path, and the difficulty they drop on determines where on the track they start at. Maybe that is too generous, but I feel that is where I would want this system to eventually land.
The acquisition of every slot takes some amount of time, and the difficulties dropping the different upgrade currencies should be enough to allow that. If mythic raid has to be split off to keep the race and hall of fame fair, then sure. But it would be great to catalyze some lfr gloves and as I progress through the season at my own pace eventually cap them at full hero around the time I get AotC.
I think you guys are missing that Pres evoker tier should apply Insurance to the echo targets. They have the same interaction with Verdant Embrace and Lifebind which makes them such a good ramp healer in the first place. Assuming that the numbers are not terrible, then I think this could be extremely potent in raid, especially on fights like Ky'veza where you have a select few people taking damage, that you have time to prepare and Echo Verdant Embrace for. If this functions this way, then it will require a lot of damage within those 6 seconds to kill anyone you have targeted. One person would get low proc the Insurance and bump everyone else up, then the next guy would proc and do it again. If Insurance sucks, and proccing it is bad, then this tier set might be terrible because it doesn't that much power outside of the actual healing done by Insurance.

I've played since Classic and never had less fun as a healer or in the game in general. Healers feel awful, these changes make it worse, they just kneecapped Resto Shamans, tanks all feel awful to play and now nobody is playing them and they were near endangered before, the changes to depletions being capped higher than those who wanted it and lower than what is useful for those who push. It's actually amazing they are fucking up this much.
1:23:20 the primordial wave for ele is actually a major stealth QoL nerf, unlike enh, spreading flame shocks is a problem, and removing the extra flame shock from prim wave exacerbates the problem. It feels like they wanted to simplify enhance and ele has taken collatoral damage without blizzard considering the consequences
It is absolutely awful for Ele, very true. Enh got an extra talent for Prim wave turning it into a combo ability and they also have a much easier time spreading flame shock like you said. For Ele nothing about its complexity was reduced because we still have to spread flame shock, and now it’s just boring because it doesn’t interact with our mastery since Lava Burst won’t cleave with it now. They need to either revert the change for ele or do something additional like remove Liquid Magma Totem and bake that flame shock cleave into Prim wave via a new talent.
Making tanking fun is either A) Make tanks unstoppable juggernauts or B) Make tanks feel like they can compete with the dps They didn't like B in SL, they didn't like A in DF......... give us players who play all tanks a reason to be there.

i dont think they realize with the raid catch up mechanic for this tier it started 6 or 8 weeks after the season started which is why its so late into the season and we only have like an 11% buff for the raid? with a renown track it starts at the very beginning of the season to fill out so youd have a dinnar way earlier than they are projecting
If the last boss drops an omni-token that turns into a catalyst charge you now need to high-roll twice. Once for the piece, ince for the charge. You could get one drop the entire raod night and its just a useless catalyst charge.
One perspective all 3 are missing w.r.t the deplete change to M+ is that a large section of the M+ playerbase has been giving feedback on how the current implementation is overly punishing, and leads to a noticeable amount of predictable toxicity in the PUG scene. This includes players doing key levels ranging from 3s to 12s and above. Their solution to this was to gatekeep the QoL fix behind a rating that a very minute part of the M+ player pool will ever get to see. That is just straight up scummy, to ignore the larger section of players who were aggrieved by its current implementation. That larger section will not put up with the degrading experience/journey of getting to 2850 in S2 for the no-deplete perk. It's weird to assume they will. Why would someone doing 8s suddenly want to push 12s to get the perk to not deplete their 8s anymore? It makes 0 sense. It just rubs a large section of M+ players the wrong way. It's a much-needed QoL change, it should not be treated as a perk for a sub 1% playerbase number in 1 form of content.

The dinar is not made for people who raid at your level. It is for people who raid all tier and either are still trying to prog or just have horrible luck. Think about a guild that kill Silken Court very late and then extend, they never have a chance to get the trinket. This way they can. Celebrating being able to take a break followed up by crying about stuff taking to long because you are "done" just doesn't mesh well.
Good. TWW is turning out to be a dogwater xpac. I'd rather not have a season 4 then have to do the 8 baseline TWW dungeons that are horribly balanced. I have no faith in Blizzard's ability to change course for TWW.
As a 637 lock, a mythic spymaster is literally the only item I can get that's an upgrade, and it's really demotivating to think about how even if my guild was clearing court weekly, there's still a good chance I wouldn't get it before next patch hits
The one thing I will say about loosing the omni token is I have had seasons where one piece of gear would not drop after weeks and the omni token allowed me to get that piece of gear upgraded from sometimes a vetern piece to hero track
I think for the delves the gilded crests are good. My interpretation is that this is intended to reasonably allow solo players to fully upgrade some of their hero track pieces by the end of the season. I imagine for non-solo players it will still be better to get crests from M+ anyway.
first, dratnos i appreciated your joke!!!!! second, as a shaman main since end of wrath/cata, while i am happy to be losing a button, i can’t help but feel extremely bummed about AG getting the axe. it feels like, since cataclym, they’ve been giving other classes shaman abilities (easy example, lust/heroism) while they take away from shaman. other classes have better utility AND they can hero/cc/defensive better on top of the fact that shaman was Just Okay in each of its roles. now, we’re losing AG, meanwhile priest is getting some kind if ankh ability that’s BETTER than actual ankh since it’s shorter cd and resets on pull. if they want to count that as one of my defensives, then at the very least it could reset between keys.. shaman feels like we’re always the bridesmaid never the bride 😔 we caught the bouquet as enh and they tackled us to the ground and nerfed immediately.. feelsbadman
I don't know what's been going on but since beta Dragonflight they ignored Resto Shamans for 3-4 months until 2 months into the expansion when they finally made us a real healer then wen't "SIKE" and kneecapped us again. Like they can't let Resto Shaman be good for longer than 2 weeks and the balance changes are a complete mess, overbuffing/overnerfing then flat out removing a major CD with no compensation when we weren't exactly lighting the meters up to begin with.
8:00 The reward is great. You have 2 boons. 1. You NEVER EVER have to deal with the affix again 2. TURBO rat keys. And trust me. You might have all 14s timed. But once your tank, healer and one of dps is 590ilvl. Deplet is an option

Im especially salty because the MW bonus is unbelievably mid, and insurance as a keyword to me would equal absorbs/DR added to my spells, rotation and cds.
The marksman rework should just be adding marked shots back from legions redesign. I think they are hard overcooking the whole "eagle outside the gamespace" bit. People make hunters in part because you can have a pet, even if you play marksman. The only reason we've not had pets out for going on 9 years is because that is how long lone wolf has existed, and because lone wolf is powerful. I would have rather had my pet from vanilla with me all the time rather than 10% bonus damage with no pet if all things were equal while I play marks. I don't fully understand why we need an invisible eagle to mark targets when we did it just fine ourselves 8 years ago.
We should implement a ramp-like system in the Great Vault, where completing higher-level keys contributes more significantly to progress towards unlocking all three slots
Add a new item to the vault currency vendor for 6 currencies that upgrades the track of a M+ item a tier higher. Tie it to the achievment that you can no longer use Heroic crests and bam.
i feel like they're just testing the waters as to when the best time for the dinar is and it's probably better to start too late than too early because when you get it week 2 people will be pissed when it's then moved back
52:15 for people like me and others in my guild. We don’t mind to boost our alts through an AotC kill to help our alts get to 619 faster for M+. And an extra catalyst charge isn’t as useful if it’s so late in the season that we can carry fresh alts thru the raid and we have like 5 or 6 catch up charges.
Hey Poddy C! Hope your holidays go well. Love the show and episode. I was hoping you all could mention the discontent Arcane mages are feeling towards the PTR changes in your next show. There is a massive thread on the /r/competitivewow subreddit. Essentially, the devs say they are happy where arcane is at and want to reduce barrage conditionals but instead are adding conditionals on top of the very unpopular Aethervision talent. It's very interesting and a ton of people created Arcane mages at the beginning of the xpac and are very confused by all the rotational changes that have been happening this season.
i think dratnos' cook on the tank tier set is close. but I think what would be better, and more in line with the extra proc that theyre currently going for, is "taking damage has a chance to give you a stack, at X stacks, you get a free use of your major wall CD" with the luck-of-the-draw part being the # of stacks gained is random. that way you get the extra use as is intended wiwth thhe current design, but can actually plan it to a certain degree. great for m+, but would also make the tier set actually useful for raid tanks.
1:23:59 Just clarifying that the talent that allows sundering to reset also removes its ability to AoE stop. The changes to this talent making it reset way more consistently isn't giving enhance infinite stops.
Just wanted to say that the change to the Omni token/catalyst is a bit rough for pvpers. Since were conquest capped, getting to buy a free piece of conquest gear that is already tier is huge, you can save 875 conquest week 1 with this (helm, chest or legs). Now we can’t save any conq since we’ll need to buy the actual piece first, it’ll slow down tier acquisition a bit for pvp.
With the renown track, I'm kinda leaning to it going up by 1 tier for your first kill of every boss. That way you become renown 9 after your first clear and then maybe it goes up to 10 when you hand in the quest to beat Gallywix. That way your first dinar would come 7 weeks into the patch, which seems kinda reasonable.
On the topic of randomly procking defensives. Rider of the apocalypse hero talent can randomly summon sm anti magick shell, which you definitely do play around once you get used to it and it’s really fun :D
hello I am pve oriented person with residual pvp skills who gets the curio thing through pvp in the first couple days of the patch, I am deeply hurt by this nerf, there are dozens of us!
why do I feel like RNG defensive as a tank is a huge L? the odd that the defensive proc change how I plan raid bosses or M+ bosses is basically 0. even for M+ trash with tank buster I need to have a plan set up for each of them or there's no point in running the key... so the only part where this help is for a very short duration VS trash white swing? can't even rely on it as an opener or anything.
Big agree that potentially losing Omni token from the last boss is a HUGE L. Dropping one/two items that give cata charges would be sweet. Couldn't care less about the impact it would have on RWF and other split runners.
The catalyst charge I think is great for types that dont get it quickly. If you already have 4 or 5 pieces or heroic teir getting a free heroic piece feels bad. An extra catalyst charge you can use on a myth item from vault or raid would be far more useful.
Blizzard does Goblin themes better than anything else, I'm super hype. As a member of the extra-week Hall of Shame, it was a great feeling to finally get a HoF, but everyone in my guild also recognizes we got lucky this season and are just happy to be here :)
As far as the whole "people didn't realize you could get gilded crests from delve maps" I got 3 maps back to back on my DK, and then 0 on my other two characters.
I think a lot of people getting 1600 or KSM are in higher than heroic ilvl gear so being able to turn a myth track piece into teir rather than getting a heroic piece is a buff for them
Dratnos coming in with the worst possible take on the change to the feat of strength reward. Saying that people who get those feats of strength can just get the equivalent gear and so it's not much of a nerf is so disconnected from reality.
Probably would’ve been controversial, but they could’ve gotten dark and thematic with losing the winning streaks. Characters become filled with despair or desperation increasing DoT damage or something. Fury warriors become so angry they gain a mini bloodlust upon losing their winning streak. Could’ve been really cool
You guys are missing the point of the keystone legend achievement, it incentives key holders to invite more liberally and not stick to the “meta” or else they might deplete below a 12. It basically makes pugging more forgiving.
Goblin is like the season/race where developers and players can channel having fun... they have to be serious on certain things then they switch to goblin mode and enjoy their lives.. that's why i play goblin.. same idea when people make streaming content and/or movies, you can easily tell when they are having fun making that movie and it makes the movie so much better (see Peekaboo stream), just having a great time
+1 dorki's point. For people that don't have access to mythic gear or play a ton to do those extra 10 keys to get gloves, it helps fill in the gear slots that don't seem to drop in m+. IE I have some buddies that run keys on Fridays, one of the guys can only really play Friday nights and he got the ksm token last night and replaced a veteran piece hes been stuck with a heroic piece. Its the first upgrade he has gotten in weeks because of bad RNG in both the vault and keys in the handful we can run a week. Mole people take, but definitely feels like a loss at the lower levels.

Also on the subject of Shaman, Primordial Wave change for Ele is very bad and changes nothing about how complex it is because you still have to spread flame shocks. this change makes it boring as well since it no longer interacts with mastery via lava burst cleave. Very sad change, they need to do something else for it. AG being removed is fine, but needs to be replaced by something that makes their off healing better at least for Ele.
I don't care about buffing tanks, but not being able to buff healers kinda sucks. It was an interesting choice to have and make on healing intensive fights in raids. Not having that option anymore makes it feel worse.
Fix frost tier set by just having it not remove the buff in POF and give POF for 4 seconds when it falls off. feels good during windows where youre casting oblit a lot and doesnt feel like shit to press your main damage ability. Easy fix
I like they do so delve 11s give stuff. I used to raid, used to m+ but can't get it going with how my life is now. Delves and delve achievements have been so much fun for me. But I do wish there would be a reason for me to do 11s outside of achievements.
but also this patch doesn't last that long, so why put that much effort into making the ring at all, and also what is the point of this patch at all just put the resources towards the next patch
As a tank I hate having to worry that my DPS are standing in so much fire that I cant get a heal. I also hate that I can never make a tiny mistake because i will take so much damage so fast there is no way for the healer to save me.
Things like these new tier sets make me wonder what their gameplan is for WeakAuras and Addons, because looking at mechanics and trying to pay attention to stacks seems like they're making tier to favor WA/addons.

I don't know what's been going on but since beta Dragonflight they ignored Resto Shamans for 3-4 months until 2 months into the expansion when they finally made us a real healer then wen't "SIKE" and kneecapped us again. Like they can't let Resto Shaman be good for longer than 2 weeks and the balance changes are a complete mess, overbuffing/overnerfing then flat out removing a major CD with no compensation when we weren't exactly lighting the meters up to begin with.

Im especially salty because the MW bonus is unbelievably mid, and insurance as a keyword to me would equal absorbs/DR added to my spells, rotation and cds.
The marksman rework should just be adding marked shots back from legions redesign. I think they are hard overcooking the whole "eagle outside the gamespace" bit. People make hunters in part because you can have a pet, even if you play marksman. The only reason we've not had pets out for going on 9 years is because that is how long lone wolf has existed, and because lone wolf is powerful. I would have rather had my pet from vanilla with me all the time rather than 10% bonus damage with no pet if all things were equal while I play marks. I don't fully understand why we need an invisible eagle to mark targets when we did it just fine ourselves 8 years ago.
We should implement a ramp-like system in the Great Vault, where completing higher-level keys contributes more significantly to progress towards unlocking all three slots

52:15 for people like me and others in my guild. We don’t mind to boost our alts through an AotC kill to help our alts get to 619 faster for M+.
And an extra catalyst charge isn’t as useful if it’s so late in the season that we can carry fresh alts thru the raid and we have like 5 or 6 catch up charges.
Hey Poddy C! Hope your holidays go well. Love the show and episode. I was hoping you all could mention the discontent Arcane mages are feeling towards the PTR changes in your next show. There is a massive thread on the /r/competitivewow subreddit. Essentially, the devs say they are happy where arcane is at and want to reduce barrage conditionals but instead are adding conditionals on top of the very unpopular Aethervision talent. It's very interesting and a ton of people created Arcane mages at the beginning of the xpac and are very confused by all the rotational changes that have been happening this season.

i think dratnos' cook on the tank tier set is close. but I think what would be better, and more in line with the extra proc that theyre currently going for, is "taking damage has a chance to give you a stack, at X stacks, you get a free use of your major wall CD" with the luck-of-the-draw part being the # of stacks gained is random. that way you get the extra use as is intended wiwth thhe current design, but can actually plan it to a certain degree. great for m+, but would also make the tier set actually useful for raid tanks.

Just wanted to say that the change to the Omni token/catalyst is a bit rough for pvpers. Since were conquest capped, getting to buy a free piece of conquest gear that is already tier is huge, you can save 875 conquest week 1 with this (helm, chest or legs). Now we can’t save any conq since we’ll need to buy the actual piece first, it’ll slow down tier acquisition a bit for pvp.
50:30 This DOES reduce tier acquisition for pvpers. They are gated behind conquest cap to get pvp tier now.
Pro-tip.. Nobody cares about WoW pvp. It's been that way for more than a decade. People who want to seriously compete in pvp choose other games.

With the renown track, I'm kinda leaning to it going up by 1 tier for your first kill of every boss. That way you become renown 9 after your first clear and then maybe it goes up to 10 when you hand in the quest to beat Gallywix. That way your first dinar would come 7 weeks into the patch, which seems kinda reasonable.
On the topic of randomly procking defensives. Rider of the apocalypse hero talent can randomly summon sm anti magick shell, which you definitely do play around once you get used to it and it’s really fun :D
hello I am pve oriented person with residual pvp skills who gets the curio thing through pvp in the first couple days of the patch, I am deeply hurt by this nerf, there are dozens of us!
why do I feel like RNG defensive as a tank is a huge L? the odd that the defensive proc change how I plan raid bosses or M+ bosses is basically 0. even for M+ trash with tank buster I need to have a plan set up for each of them or there's no point in running the key... so the only part where this help is for a very short duration VS trash white swing? can't even rely on it as an opener or anything.
Just do what the rest of the tanks are doing to address this issue... Go play other games.

Big agree that potentially losing Omni token from the last boss is a HUGE L. Dropping one/two items that give cata charges would be sweet. Couldn't care less about the impact it would have on RWF and other split runners.

The catalyst charge I think is great for types that dont get it quickly. If you already have 4 or 5 pieces or heroic teir getting a free heroic piece feels bad. An extra catalyst charge you can use on a myth item from vault or raid would be far more useful.

Blizzard does Goblin themes better than anything else, I'm super hype. As a member of the extra-week Hall of Shame, it was a great feeling to finally get a HoF, but everyone in my guild also recognizes we got lucky this season and are just happy to be here :)
As far as the whole "people didn't realize you could get gilded crests from delve maps"
I got 3 maps back to back on my DK, and then 0 on my other two characters.
I think a lot of people getting 1600 or KSM are in higher than heroic ilvl gear so being able to turn a myth track piece into teir rather than getting a heroic piece is a buff for them

Dratnos coming in with the worst possible take on the change to the feat of strength reward. Saying that people who get those feats of strength can just get the equivalent gear and so it's not much of a nerf is so disconnected from reality.
Probably would’ve been controversial, but they could’ve gotten dark and thematic with losing the winning streaks. Characters become filled with despair or desperation increasing DoT damage or something. Fury warriors become so angry they gain a mini bloodlust upon losing their winning streak. Could’ve been really cool
You guys are missing the point of the keystone legend achievement, it incentives key holders to invite more liberally and not stick to the “meta” or else they might deplete below a 12. It basically makes pugging more forgiving.

Goblin is like the season/race where developers and players can channel having fun... they have to be serious on certain things then they switch to goblin mode and enjoy their lives.. that's why i play goblin.. same idea when people make streaming content and/or movies, you can easily tell when they are having fun making that movie and it makes the movie so much better (see Peekaboo stream), just having a great time
The new Omni token system allows for you to get a myth track and tertiary - small buff in long term if you don’t ship it on a heroic.
+1 dorki's point. For people that don't have access to mythic gear or play a ton to do those extra 10 keys to get gloves, it helps fill in the gear slots that don't seem to drop in m+.
IE I have some buddies that run keys on Fridays, one of the guys can only really play Friday nights and he got the ksm token last night and replaced a veteran piece hes been stuck with a heroic piece. Its the first upgrade he has gotten in weeks because of bad RNG in both the vault and keys in the handful we can run a week. Mole people take, but definitely feels like a loss at the lower levels.
the tier actually seems really good for pres evoker in raid right? lowering verdant embrace cd sounds insane because of the lifebind talent+echo right?
Also on the subject of Shaman, Primordial Wave change for Ele is very bad and changes nothing about how complex it is because you still have to spread flame shocks. this change makes it boring as well since it no longer interacts with mastery via lava burst cleave. Very sad change, they need to do something else for it.
AG being removed is fine, but needs to be replaced by something that makes their off healing better at least for Ele.
Tank tier bonus should just reset defensive and double the power of the next use instead so it has more benefit
I don't care about buffing tanks, but not being able to buff healers kinda sucks. It was an interesting choice to have and make on healing intensive fights in raids. Not having that option anymore makes it feel worse.
Fix frost tier set by just having it not remove the buff in POF and give POF for 4 seconds when it falls off. feels good during windows where youre casting oblit a lot and doesnt feel like shit to press your main damage ability. Easy fix

I like they do so delve 11s give stuff. I used to raid, used to m+ but can't get it going with how my life is now.
Delves and delve achievements have been so much fun for me.
But I do wish there would be a reason for me to do 11s outside of achievements.

As a tank I hate having to worry that my DPS are standing in so much fire that I cant get a heal. I also hate that I can never make a tiny mistake because i will take so much damage so fast there is no way for the healer to save me.

Things like these new tier sets make me wonder what their gameplan is for WeakAuras and Addons, because looking at mechanics and trying to pay attention to stacks seems like they're making tier to favor WA/addons.
Also 3 best ones are Rogue, Warlock, and DKs those are my top 3.
