As a scottish person i never really saw anyone pointing out my homeland. it made me really sad as a small lassie. but i got filled up with so much joy when my idol pointed out my motherland. i hope you see this scott and your always welcome in scotland!

When I was little there was a van that sold food out of the back, I'm not sure what food but it was good and my Nana would occasionally buy us lunch from there when we were waiting for my aunt to get off work, the guy that ran the van would tell me tales of Unicorns because I used to absolutely adore them and one time he told me a secret, very hush hush, I'll spill this secret but you must not tell people who don't believe in them
Unicorns only show themselves to those they deem worthy, that guy saw one on a hill once, I only wish I could spot one, maybe one day
Also, when you eventually come to Scotland, I highly recommend loch ness, and instead of staying in a hotel or something, try renting a wigwam for a week or something, it's like camping but you get an actual bed, electricity and it's kinda like a small room to stay in, it's small but it's comforting, the best time to visit in my opinion is when the temperature is between 13°c and 15°c, not too cold, not too hot and always expect rain, I'd also like to recommend not going near any waterlogged horses, they're evil and will try to drown you

Went to Scotland with school last year, we drove all the way from Edinburgh to Loch Ness with the bus (in one day). All the way through the Highlands. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and I am definitely gonna visit again someday (luckily it's not that far away for me, since I am from the Netherlands :D)
Are the water logged horses you mentioned Kelpies because they try to trick humans into riding them, and then they drown the humans.

Bro- an hour?!? That would take me at least four to get that level of detail in the sketch and colors
It would take me at least four DAYS, counting my time procrastinating-
It's not about being as good as him, it's about having fun and doing a small doodle it doesn't have to be as detailed
It would take me eternity to draw THAT good
ofc it would. that's where the difference between pro artists (not sure if Scott counts himself as a pro but i do anyway) and beginners/amateurs/juniors/etc. we all can draw the same thing, believe me or not, it's just the amount of time
pros know their media well, they know what brush to use and they "feel" what to do next. when u r nor so experienced, every decision takes more time, it doesn't happen naturally... yet
but when u r progressing, learning new way of using ur media, u eventually end up with cool detailed sketches in about an hour as Scott. for now just take ur time and do what u can do, it doesn't have to be perfect, it has to be yours
Scott, you should make a custom youtube hashtag for this challenge so we can all share our art for each day and the everyone who is participating can see eachothers work!

I keep forgetting that our national animal is a unicorn, I keep thinking it's a pheasant of something since they seem to show up so much in random places. I'm a Scot and I wouldn't call myself wild or untamable at all either honestly. You're more than welcome to visit anytime, it's a great place, especially more northwards where the scenery is amazing passing all the hills (also if you can catch the good weather, easier said than done but I've come to quite like our usual climate personally). I think you'd fit right in, I can just imagine you here really easily.

I highly recommend you draw the Chilean national animal: the Cóndor! It's a vulture that's wingspan can reach up to 6 meters!

@@list283 both the Huemul and the Andean condor are on the Chilean coat of arms so I think most people consider both as the national animal. Both are incredible animals ❤️

The actual reason Scotland chose a unicorn is because at the time we were fighting against England and there national animal was a lion which at the time was believed to be a mythical animal since not allot of people had seen them in England and that supposedly the only animal that could defeat a lion was a unicorn
I loved unicorns as a child and it feels like my childhood again
My country’s National animal is the Andino Condor, this is considered the largest flying bird in the world that can be found in Quito, Ecuador 🇪🇨.
They can live up to 70 years in the wild and have to protect one egg they would lay every two to three years. These condors form monogamous pairs and they can glide from one area to another without flapping their wings for more than 2 hours in mid air.

I've been watching some of the videos in this series and kept on hoping Scotland would come up but not really expecting it to so I filled with so much happines when I realised it had come up! Literal squeals of joy came from my mouth. I love our national animal. What I love is that lions and unicorns are supposed to be fierce enemies - and Englands national animal is a lion. 😂

I think one of the pages should be a panda. It’s not that they are my favorite animal, I just love the fact that almost all pictures of pandas they are doing something Chaotic. Omg I went to Scotland this summer and it was so magical!! Also just to share bc I did not know this until after I went: Edinburgh has a festival every august where the entire city is basically filled with parties and shows every day, and i was told it’s a really good time to travel there.

A lot of people don't acknowledge Scottish people. I'm not full Scottish but I have somewhat Scottish blood, and I have a lot of Scottish ancestors on my dad's side of my family.

A fun thing about Unicorns is that they may be inspired by fossils of the woolly rhinoceros, the massive horn and odd feet most likely inspiring the idea of a magical, horned horse! The original drawings of unicorns also include lion-like tails and a much more wise-looking face with a beard, which I love that you included !!

Time to scavenge my house for a new sketchbook
This is what one of my Scottish friends told me:
“If you look at the unicorns neck, they have a collar on and a chain.
Look at where that chain leads.
Into the British lions hands.
Meaning that Scotland will always be under the rule of Britain.
This is why I have lost faith in Britain.”

Its true! Live here and my city even has a few crests and sculptures with the unicorn and they sadly have that chain. Hopefully one day the unicorn and us scots will be free 😭

I would also recommend the isle of Mull. The TV show, Balamory, was filmed in Tobermory. It's a really pretty place
