One of my all time favorite Celtics. Bird was the leader but McHale had freakishly long arms and could cover a lot of ground. Great forward and had personality as well.
It was ridiculous sometimes how much to that side some defenders would cheat, they’d be standing by his shoulder when he was posted up back-to-the-basket, and he’d still just not only shoot his jumper anyway, but hit it.

In 93-94 both missed extended stretches due to injury which ultimately killed their season and 94-95 they had bad luck drawing the Bulls in the 1st round after MJ returned and then it ended, they really didn't have very many opportunities since they didn't play together for too long.

Hornets needed a big, STRONG, proven vet to keep those two young Lions from attacking each other. Hornets destroyed themselves, their roster was poised to dominate the 90's. Especially during MJ's hiatus.
You’re absolutely right, like a Rick Mahorn, Otis Thorpe, Buck Williams, Kevin Willis type vet to keep it together. Charlotte FO blew that one big time
If Zion Williamson studied the likes of LJ or Barkley my goodness he would dominate today’s game. LJ had a nice combination of athleticism, strength, speed and finesse, great inside/outside and good footwork (shout out to McHale).

Crazy how Robert Parish was the oldest player in the NBA then but continued to play a few more seasons 😂😂 Chief was no joke
What a weapon McHale still was in 93.
