I have a British friend's husband who had a mild pneumonia caused by a cold, which was misdiagnosed as lung cancer and a quarter of his lung was cut off in a major operation. Chinese doctors have very rich clinical experience, stay and treat it. Many Chinese people abroad have returned to China for treatment
OMG!! As a breast surgeon in the UK I truly wish you all the best. I know whatever the decision you have made the right decision. By the way we are now taking over 2 to 3 weeks just to get the first biopsy back. And god knows how long to get all other treatment. With all my regards. PS you and your son have been a friendly face in my life recently and felt awful how the British establishment was attacking you. You have both fought hard so far. Keep fighting.
Check out Gweilo60. He made a video comparing the hospitals in Saskatchewan Canada and Nanning China and came out with a similar conclusion about the abysmal efficiency of hospitals in Canada. Don't know what's happening really but if you look at the pace of Chinese construction it probably is a reflection of all sectors including healthcare.
@@mottscottison6943 I visited Fuzhou in 2019 and got some sort of stomach sickness while I was there, went to a hospital and got my blood work done, seen by the doctor and gotten prescription within 4 hours. I also had a similar situation when I was in Canada, went to emergency room waited for 4 hours, then did blood work and waited another 2 hours to see the doctor and was told to return home.
Chinese hospitals may not be the best in the world, but they are definitely far more efficient than most of hospitals in the west, and the quality of the treatment is not bad at all. About 2 years ago I wasn't feeling well and went to a Chinese hospital, I talked to a doctor, did a CT scan and blood test, got the results back, talked to the doctor again and got some prescriptions, all done in 5 hours. My dad needed a small surgery 4 years ago, from the first time he visited the hospital to the moment he was done with the surgery and released from the hospital, all finished within a month. Those 2 events both happened in regular public hospitals. Last year I did a blood test in Australia, it took 4 days just to get the result back. The China speed is everywhere in China, including the healthcare system.
Hi Lee , there’s always something isn’t there ? I know your a strong fighter and will beat this , we grew up together even though your 10 years younger than me , we had some great times and I can always remember you rolling about on the floor laughing so loud at a budgie mirror or Ken ( private jokes folks ) and you had your share of hospital time when you were a baby , and you beat that too. Most of your followers don’t probably realize how brainy you really are , whether it’s with electrics, electronics, and business , I have to admit you always left me way way behind ! So keep your chin up and we’re all thinking of you and wishing you to get well really quickly, I think you’ve made the right decision in getting treatment ASAP . All the best Mike .
Thanks so much Mike, what you have said has bought a lump to my throat, We had some great times, especially that mirror, after speaking with the doctors I am confident of it being sorted, and it has not spread so thats really good. Once I'm sorted we will have to get together, we don't do that enough. With you in Spain and me in China its not the easiest but we can make it happen. Hope you and Gemma are good, speak soon.
@@BarrettYT Lee I think you made the right decision about having your treatment in China. The UK has a backlog of cases and it will take you more than six months to get treatment if you are lucky. Soon, the CoViD cases will overwhelm the system and they will have to halt none urgent cases. In addition, you will have to live in the UK in order to be treated in an NHS hospital for free. Bring British does not mean you can have free medical care if you have not lived in the UK for sometime. You are in my prayers and I am sure the Chinese doctors will cure you from your health problem.
So sorry to hear this Lee, wishing you a speedy recovery! Sounds like you have got a good community rallying around you. Once you get through the next few months, going back to the UK and seeing your family will be all the sweeter. All the best, Jack

Hang in there my asian brother. I will donate, if not once, regularly. Someone i know died of cancer. She was treated in the West, but due to language issue, she got misdiagnose. If they misdiagnose u as having cancer A when you have cancer B, the doctor ends up giving u wrong chemo, making things worst. We try to sue but the doctor blames diagnostic company, then diagnostic guy files bankruptcy. Remember, chemo helps u 50%. The other 50% comes from somewhere else.
You will get thru this, I genuinely believe it! Your family needs you, we need you and this world needs you. You are such a warmhearted and friendly person I've ever seen. We will always support you and pray for you. You have been under a lot of pressure and stress for a long time. You need to rest your mind and stop pushing yourself too hard. I think taking some meditation lessons will be good for you too. Please try that if you can
Thank you Lee, you're a great and brave man, everything will be fine with you, I'm sure. We all support you and are waiting for you coming back soon. Love
Have any of you had breast cancer before? Its very rare in men, and by documenting my journey I hope to bring more awareness. UPDATE : I'm quite overwhelmed with all of the good wishes and comments coming in, I will try my best to answer them all but if I miss you please accept my apologies.
I have a suggestion that you can search for a kind of alternative therapy called "Longevitology" or "长生学". The method is using natural energy, and no drugs and no sides effect at all and very practical. I suggest that you take the treatment from doctors and also get longevitology treatment as supportive therapy. It may help you to reduce the chemotherapy side effects and pain. The longevitology is free. I have a teacher here that faced breast cancer and get longevitology treatment along with chemotherapy, it helped her a lot. Hope this information may help you. Get well soon and wish u all the best
I hope you get back to health soon. This kind of case should not be a common case, but you have to know that China is the most populous country in the world, so Chinese doctors have the most experience. Trust Chinese doctors. If you have any doubts or problems, please communicate with your attending doctor. , He will give you the most reasonable advice!

Very sorry to hear this Lee. The waiting lists in UK is longer than ever, I'm sure your decision to stay in China is the right one. You will get through this and come back stronger. Take care and stay positive. Your channel is getting better and better, will continue support and follow you guys. Best wishes.
Take good care of yourself, Lee. My brother in law (in Chengdu) was actually diagnosed with a pretty advanced prostate cancer 5 years ago, something much worse than what you've got, because he waited like 5 years to go see a doctor despite having blood in his urine! Apparently, at that stage, the life expectations was 3-4 years. And yet, 5 years later he's fine! So I think he got very good care, and you should be confident that things will be all right with you!
Hi Lee, you made the right decision to do the operation right away. My father was detected thymoma tumor (3cm) near his heart 5 years ago, and he did operation right away at Shanghai. He was almost 70 years old at that time. The operation was very successful. And he examined every year after operation and no any bad symptoms so far. I want to say, trust the Chinese doctors. Actually they have way more hands on experiences than most places all over the world. Be confident and positive. We are with you.
Lee, your decision to get treated in China speaks volumes about your faith in this Country. You have my total respect. I love your videos. Get well soon

Terribly sorry to hear this lee. I do hope you get a speedy recovery and take care of yourself please. Will contribute a little towards your treatment. Best wishes to you and your family.
Hi Lee, very sorry to hear that. I want to share with you that my mom also got breast cancer 15 years ago and now she is a fully-recovered happy grandma. Good luck with the treatment!
I feel confidence with the doctors and hospital facilities in China. My dad had severe lung problem while he was traveling in China from the US many years ago. He needed immediate treatment. He was treated in a hospital in Tianjin where my parents were traveling. My Dad told me the hospital he was in was so nice and treatment and hospitalization were with high standard as if you are in the US. They even provided a bed for my Mom to stay with my Dad while he is in-patient stay in the hospital. All of the treatment records were written in English so my Dad can use to claim to his insurance company. Overall, it was a memorable experience for both my parents.
My heart is with you and Oli, my mom used to get cancer treatment both in US and China, China is definitely much more efficient, besides since China has a huge population so the doctors are with more clinical experence. I live in California but am in Shenzhen right now, if you and Oli need any help, please feel 100% free to let me know.
Sorry to hear about the news. Don’t worry and stay strong and positive. My husband got throat cancer in 2014 and he’s fully recovered now. Medical treatment for cancer is v advanced now and you will have a good and speedy recovery !🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻❤️❤️
As a breast cancer survivor myself (I live in Canada), I feel for you. But like you, I was clear with my lymph nodes, even though my tumor was pretty large too at 2.5 cm, so a lumpectomy followed by radiation and chemotherapy together was able to cure me completely. It’s been 12 years since. With more advanced science nowadays, you would be ok. Stay optimistic and hopeful. (And yes, you’d probably lose your hair with the chemotherapy, but it will grow back. And yes, the chemotherapy would probably make you sick, but there’s anti-vomiting drugs you can have through IV as well as oral, which would significantly alleviate those side effects. And yes, chemotherapy would reduce your white blood cell counts, but there’s also drugs that can boost the numbers back up. Again, this happened to me more than a decade ago. I’m sure there are even better drugs nowadays. So no need to worry too much.) Best of luck to you. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 (in case you wonder, I’m female. Breast cancer in men is not that common, but not extremely rare. I know a man, indirectly, who had breast cancer around the same time I did.)
I don’t normally do this, but l have donated some money. Because I believe good people deserve good support. Wish you all the best and recover soon fully.
Sir, sorry to hear about this new adventure... With your strong mindset and many supporters, things should go well. Our prayers are with you. Our granddaughter went to the children's hospital near you for open heart surgery at 100 days old, in 2012... she is doing fantastic and I always have/ will praise Chinese doctors. They're my #1 go to with out any question. Around 1980, I had bump, 10-12 o'clock position over my right nipple... very painful. Aspiration and cut out ~2"x1" area for testing. Everything was ok but, I was advise to prepare for possible changes in the future. Last month while exercising, I had felt a spot under my right arm/breast area only once, as I remembered that painful feeling again, after 40 years. At that time we had chalked it up to playing too much American football. I left Nanning a year ago as I returned stateside to our NC farm until June 2022. I truly appreciate your story as it reminds me to visit a doctor after our new enrollment for Medicare next month! I deeply thank you!
I'm so sorry to hear that, but I think it is very brave of you to share this experience with us. Through your amazing videos we have gotten to know you very well. as the strong individual that you are. I have no doubt that you will pull through this successfully. Dear Barrette, hold on there and you’ll be fine and thanks for bringing us so many fantastic videos about China. It’s interesting that I was born in China but now live overseas, so I didn’t know many of the latest developments in China until I watched your videos. We donated a small amount of money just to show our support to you. 坚持住,等你回来!
This sent a pang to my heart. I have never left any comment on any channel but I will this time. As a Chinese living abroad, your channel lets me see my home country and it means a lot to me. Appreciate what you both are doing. You made the right decision to begin treatment asap in China. And I know you will get through this.
Recommend you to seek for a second opinion and do the test in another large hospital (either in Shenzhen or Guangzhou) again just to ensure that the conclusions are consistent... All the best and hope you will be fully recovered soon !
Stay strong and brave Lee. You’ve got a whole community supporting you here. Looking forward to watching your “I’m all clear” video. Also Oli, I know it’s gonna be tough for you too, so hang in there!
I had a breast cancer two years ago, its very tough to go through each stage of treatments and its very emotional as well. Nobody really understands your struggling, not just physical one but also mental one, most of time you have to deal it by yourself. However, breast cancer is actually localized the outside of our inner body, so we have more chances to survive.
I know that private hospital in Shenzhen is a more comfortable option for you since no language barrier has to be worried about there, but still I want to advise you that you should really consider the top public hospitals in Shanghai Beijing or Guangzhou for better treatment, or at least listen to some second opinions. In terms of the medical level of doctors in China, public hospitals are always a lot better than private hospitals. 祝早日康复!
That hospital is actually a public hospital and 三甲 but I do agree that Shanghai/Beijing/Guangzhou are great options. Guangzhou is very close to Shenzhen and it can be a really good place for a second opinion. Lee, take good care of yourself!
@@TheScotsalan I agree the doctors are superb in China, I think the nurses are doing a great job considering how much patients they’ll have to look after. they are not babysitting type of nurses but they all got skills. I used to complain about their attitude but it’s really really cheap compared to the US if you’re a Chinese citizen, and they’re really efficient compared with NZ where I’m at atm. And speaking of things they’ve promised …China is really doing far better than here in nz
@@TheScotsalan sorry for your loss however I’ve never lived in gz I was born and raised in Beijing idk what hospital you guys went to and why every time you guys have to shout at someone to make things work it’s not common as far as I remember. I wouldn’t go to a same hospital again if I were you. When I was in Beijing , too busy was always the only case. Too many patients and too much workload for nurses and doctors is real it’s not an excuse it’s a fact. When I was in Beijing, a doctor sees about 80 patients a day in major hospitals in Beijing, sometimes up to 120 patients, nurses could’ve double or triple this number. These are far more than any western clinic or hospital. In most of western countries, nurses and doctors would go on a strike and asking for a pay raise. If you go to a hospital in Beijing, everybody’s busy af there’s no such thing as 2 hours lunch break, 30 minutes instant noodle lunches /takeaway lunches along with department patient analysis/ group studies are way more common. Btw why does period pain has anything to do with the health care system? Painkillers don’t need prescriptions. I would think this system is the best for Chinese atm it makes the the healthcare affordable for most of people efficiently. You’ll have to understand what you went through does not necessarily happening in other places in China just because China’s BIG. There are 91cities in China have more than 5 million people, and 5 million is the population of whole New Zealand. I have settled in New Zealand so I couldn’t do much about improving the Chinese health care system, however there’s a lot of people over there working on making China a better place. And I have faith on them. Idk how long you’ve been living in China but obviously assuming other’s family will go through cancer is incredibly rude and offensive in at least Chinese culture. Not sure if your in laws ever told you that. Definitely something need to be aware of in future.
@@TheScotsalan the young lady’s story is more relevant to the underdevelopment of that village other than a China problem, doctors in small villages are unlikely to keep their knowledge updated all over the world. I don’t get it why neither did she walk in any pharmacy get the painkiller nor did she seek for a better professional medical advice if it really bothers her that much. Even in NZ not all doctors are good, if one didn’t help I’ll just book another appointment with another doctor/clinic , isn’t it common sense? I thought taking painkillers when suffer in pain is a common sense as well. Also just fyi any questions/ suggestions/ advice can be left in the government’s wechat mini program they’ll be answering it. But first of all if I’m not happy with the hospital I’ll leave a complaint to the hospital, in Beijing they all have a department deals with it, hospital in Guangzhou should have it too. The system is not perfect yes, but again, you don’t get it all. Most of Chinese citizens get to access good doctors and treatments within a short time without worrying too much about the money but they can’t always get a happy nurse looking after them, in my opinion this is a pretty fair trade and totally understandable. For those who’s seeking for a higher quality medical service there’re plenty of private clinics in China as well, but they’ll be charging you like a American clinic tho. Chinese doctors earn so much less than they should due to the low charge of the appointment fee therefore it’s not hard to understand they’re at least expecting their job contact last long and stable. Money or stability, the hospital will have the offer one of them at least, no one’s saint, the doctors gotta live, you can’t be greedy. COVID pretty much proved that this system is much more capable than most of the health systems in the world. It’s need to improve but not until people’s salaries catch up.
@@TheScotsalan why I don't complaint about healthcare in China- cos I'm not greedy, I've explained it to you in previous comments. I'm glad treatments in UK is totally free if it's true but in NZ is not. You'll have to pay for the visit, and not all treatments are free. Idk why you keep repeating " from the people for the people" thing. Abraham Lincoln actually said democracy is a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people." in Gettysburg address, did the US stick on it though? They wouldn't let covid kill so much Americans if they did. They don't give a shot about people. And this is probably not the only thing failed to the people over there, otherwise there won't have BLM etc. I'm so done with the double standard when it comes to China. Also there're so many farmers in China and who are you to speaking for them? My uncles are farmers and I'm pretty sure they won't agree with you. It's actually very stupid to assume they can only pick one, that's just not how it works. I'm not criticing NZ's healthcare system to defending China's healthcare system. I'm giving my opinion of both NZ healthcare system and China's healthcare system, and I think China's healthcare system suits China's situation the most for now.

It's courageous, honest, unbiased, practical but most of all it's your sense of common good (communal benefit and advancement) that even in the face of rather personal challenging ordeals you're still able to bring about what could be of a future positive outlook for others to be aware of and learn from- it truly reflects what you have been doing in the last couple of yours. As a survivor, I would say stay optimistic. The treatments and medicine nowadays are 10 times more effective than even 10 or 5 years ago. The survival rates is way higher. Do not look into the depressing numbers because they are not accurate and doesn't reflect the most updated data, and will only make you over thinking. Anyways, you will be fine! Chin up!!

Thank you for sharing, I imagine is very hard but thank you for your honesty. I'm from Puerto Rico and our doctor is Chinese, they are really good at what they do so I really think you are in good hands. Two of my aunts had cancer in the past, both had chemotherapy and both reacted differently, the one that had breast cancer didn't have a hard time with chemotherapy, she lost her appetite but it wasn't too much or for too long, she did really good and that was like 8 years ago, my other aunt had Leukemia she sadly passed away but that was in 1991 so at that time we didn't had the resources, many things were very differently at that time. Now there's so much progress, different options that I have faith you will do great. Take this time to relax, write about your experience, think of ideas for when you can get out and travel again, think of a mini vacation. You have so many people rooting for you that I know all that good vibe will help you. Take care and sorry for such a long message.

Keep fighting.
it's just shocking to know how long it takes for a biopsy at this time in UK.
@@shengyuanxu4891 Yes. Despite increasing the number of Pathologists.
Mate, take care of yourself and you’re much stronger than you think. Rest up, get the best treatment in SZ and see you in a few months.
I wish you well, Lee.
I am sure the Chinese doctors will take good care of you. Their medical skill is very good.
Best wishes from London.
Thanks so much.

They need money for the treatment, Pal. Can you help?

Sorry to hear about your illness, stay strong and hope everything works out fine with you. Take care!
Good idea, I will do the same.
Through your amazing

I'm giving my opinion of both NZ healthcare system and China's healthcare system, and I think China's healthcare system suits China's situation the most for now.
get well soon, Lee, you really bring us joy. Hope you could get the world-class treatment and get healthy very soon

Stay Strong And speedy recovery Lee. You are a Good man and you have many subscribers praying for you!
Prayers for a speedy recovery Lee. I don't comment much on this channel even though I watch it regularly, but I'm sure you'll be in good hands with the doctors there and you'll be fine since the cancer is not spreading. That's already a good sign. Stay positive and cheerful, your mind is a powerful antidote. And don't worry about Oli, he'll take good care of us....all of us whippersnappers :)
My aunt just got through this last year. She is totally fine now. You will be fine too I strongly believe. It’s nothing.
Get well soon mate 🔥❤️
Raise my hand to support you ✋
Thank you man

I am sorry about your condition. I'm sure you could get the best treatment in Shengzhen HK Univeristy hospital. Looking forward to seeing you recovered and your video on winter olympics.
sending my regards over from Singapore. My mum diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 in early 2020, and went to chemo, surgery & radiotherapy throughout the year, and now is all good! As went though all these together with my mum, I’d say it’s indeed not easy, but you will conquer this battle for sure. Stay strong!

Sending you positive energy from Borneo. You will beat this little obstacle and come out stronger. 🙏🏿🔥🙏🏿
I’m sorry to hear this. If it’s any comfort I was treated for stage 3b cancer here in UK four years ago. I’m fine so far. I had chemo once a week and radiation treatment every day. The chemo was ok. I was surprised that the radiation was much worse for me. But we are all different. I’d just like to send you big, gentle hugs ❤️❤️
Good luck with your treatment and recovery. My prayers are with you. I see many people conquer this disease.
Lee is a strong, brave fighter. I am confident that Lee will get through the hardship. Please accept a little contribution from me. Many hands make light work! Wishing you a speedy recovery 🍀
So far, you are the only one who took immediate action on this issue. Well done.
