Mmmmmm, no! LOL! At the time, Jordan was doing things physically that not many others could do. However, just watching guys like Spud Webb in the dunk contest back in the day at his size, watching guys today perform crazier dunks than Jordan’s best at the dunk contest IN GAME. Then watching guys like Jordan Kilgannon performing better and more insane dunks than Jordan ever thought about doing. Shows he was great at the time. But has been surpassed in many areas. Including dunking, clutch shots, 3 pointers and driving to the basket. Again, Jordan deserves a ton of love and respect for what he did. BUT he was a loser and major choke artist until Scotty showed up to save the day. Not to mention, look at the bulls win/ loss records the years he was “ retired “ aka being suspended for gambling and other things. He can score and dunk and he is strong but he can't win. He can't take his skills and electrify everybody else around him. What he did with the Heat was all because the whole Heat team was a team of greatest in the league at the time players. Micheal went to a team with average team mates. I don’t think it was that big of a deal because I think he was a sophomore trying out for Varsity (he still was JV) and he was only cut because of a 6’7” guy while he was only 5’9” or so at the time.
Me being born in 99’ I didn’t grow up in his era, but my father always showed me highlights and documentaries of Jordan which made me see that no other player is close to Jordan

here in Portugal the basketball exploded at that time. It´s was the only sport played by almost everyone in my school, awesome times. I played for 12 years and now i´m 47 and sometimes i´ll still go to the playground behind my house hit some baskets. MJ belongs without a doubt to the zeitgeist.

He tried out for the varsity team as a sophomore but was put on jv because he hadn't hit his growth spurt yet and they were already loaded with older, more-experienced guards. He dominated as a jv player, then hit a growth spurt and proceeded to dominate on varsity during his last two years of high school, earning a scholarship to UNC, and then, well, the rest is history.

Guys, let me explain in case you still have doubts. This dude went to the biggest stage if his sport (NBA finals) 6 times. Of those 6 times he won every time. Of those 6 times HE was the MVP. Of those 6 times he never allowed a game 7 to happen. There are great players even if you hate them because of reasons (Magic, Bird, LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, Russell, Chamberlain, etc.) He’s the greatest ever... and all I said was just about his finals record.

Honestly, this is a flawed argument. MJ was great, but he always had the better team. The 90's lacked competition, compared to a decade like the 80's. Bird and co, had to play amazing Lakers teams and vice versa.. Give the Western conference a juggernaut like LA was, and MJ most likely wouldn't be 6-0. And no, this isn't "hating".. I had the opportunity to witness him playing during the 90s (when he was less impressive offensively than he was back in the 80's) , every week the top 10 plays in the NBA had like 3 or 4 involving MJ.
During the pre-game for Duke/North Carolina last year, a student asked the ESPN commentators if you took the greatest players for Duke all time and the greatest players from North Carolina of all time and they played a game, who would win? Jay Bilas had the best answer. He said that there have been amazing players for both teams but it comes down to this, "one team has Micheal Jordan and the other team doesn't." True story.

Every single team that Jordan lost to in the playoffs after his rookie year made the NBA Finals. - Something you can't say about the 1983 Bucks, 1990 Suns, or 1990 Knicks that defeated either Bird's Celtics or Magic's Lakers. 2. The only team that didn't make it all the way to the Finals the very year after defeating MJ and his team in the play-offs, was the Milwaukee Bucks and that was during MJ's rookie season and debut play-off series in 1985. - Those Bucks had Sidney Moncrief, who had just won his second Defensive Player of the Year in a row the previous season and was still the runner-up for the award in 1984-1985 season and the second runner-up in 1985-1986. Those Bucks also had one of the greatest defensive guards of all time in Paul Pressey. Keep in mind that no guard has ever won DPOY in the 2000s, and in his first ever playoff series, MJ already had to deal with a 2x DPOY guard in Moncrief. - The Milwaukee Bucks made it to the ECF in 1984 play-offs and were defeated by the Boston Celtics who went on to win the Finals. - However, not many people remember that in the 1983 play-offs, the Milwaukee Bucks swept the Boston Celtics in the first round of the play-offs. Those 1983 Celtics had Bird, Parish, McHale and Cedric Maxwell who was an ex-Finals MVP. - One year after MJ's play-off debut, Bird's Celtics had to beat the Bucks again in the ECF on the way to Bird's last championship. 3. Jordan was drafted to a team of multiple cocaine addicts, Orlando Woolridge and Quintin Dailey were the only two that were caught breaching their contract due to their drug addiction and were eventually forced to leave the team in 1986. - The Bulls become a play-off team after drafting MJ and were able to win one game in a 5 game series against the Milwaukee Bucks with a 8 seed team. Orlando Woolridge and Quintin Dailey, the very two cocaine addicts that ever eventually kicked out from the team also happened to be MJ's most valuable team-mates at that time. The Milwaukee Bucks made it to the ECF twice in a span of 3 years, and were very underrated considering the fact that they were able to sweep a stacked Celtics team that boasts of Larry Bird, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale and Cedric Maxwell who was an ex-Finals MVP. - MJ averaged 29.3ppg and 8.5 assists in his debut play-off series. To give you an idea how hard it is to do that, LeBron James was never able to average more than 8.5 assists per game for a single play-off season until the 2015 play-offs was over. He was a 12 year veteran then and needed to complete his 10th play-off season and play until his 33rd play-off opponent to register a feat that rookie MJ accomplished. 4. MJ has never ever lost a play-off series when his team had home court advantage. Unlike Bird, Magic or Kareem and many other greats, who have been knocked out by teams in the play-off despite home-court advantage. -- Even with home court advantage, Larry Bird's Celtics lost to Patrick Ewing's Knicks in the first round. Jordan's Bulls never lost to Patrick Ewing's Knicks in 5 playoff meetings, even with a 6th seed Bulls team in 1989. For those claiming that this Celtics team was washed up, Bird was 1 rpg and 1 apg shy of a triple double, and McHale, Parish, and Lewis all played very well offensively. This wasn't the same Celtics team of the 80s. but they were still expected to beat the Knicks. - Magic Johnson and Kareem lost to a 40-42 Rockets team in the first round of the 1981 playoffs while they were the reigning NBA champions. Larry Bird's first championship came against that same 40-42 Rockets team. 5. MJ has also never lost to a team lower than a number 2 seed. Unlike Bird, Magic or Kareem and many other greats, who have been knocked out by teams lower than number 2 seed in the play-off. 6. MJ's teams were able to defeat multiple play-off opponents with a top 10 all-time center and multiple NBA Finals opponents that were good enough to make it to the Finals after defeating play-off opponent/s with a top 10 all-time center. - The 80s Lakers were never able beat a team with a great center in a play-off series. Parish might be a Hall of Fame center but he never made the playoffs in a season without Bird unless he was playing under 20 mpg off the bench. The 80s Lakers lost to Moses twice (1981 and 1983), and against Hakeem (1986), going a combined 2-10 in playoff games against them. These were the only times the 80s Lakers played a top 10 all-time center in a playoff series. - In 1990, Magic Johnson's Lakers had a top 7 defense and offense and the best record in the league. Magic also won MVP that year. Even then, Magic lost to a 5 seed Suns team led by Kevin Johnson and no Charles Barkley in only 5 games. - Jordan ended up beating a Suns team with Kevin Johnson as well as the MVP Charles Barkley in the 1993 Finals. 7) MJ and his team was the only team in history that ever swept the Bad Boy Pistons in a play-off series. - Neither Larry Bird nor Magic Johnson has ever came close to sweeping the Bad Boy Pistons despite the fact that they have never ever played against the Detroit Pistons in the play-offs when the Pistons were officially and statistically the number 1 overall defense in the league with a current DPoY winner in the same year moving from regular season to post season. Dennis Rodman won DPOY in 1989-1990 and 1990-1991 regular season and the Piston's were the best defensive team in the league statistically. 8) MJ's Bulls were the only team that ever won a play-off game against the Detroit Pistons in the 1989 NBA play-off. No other team in the 1989 NBA play-off ever won a single play-off game against those Pistons except for MJ's Bulls and they were able to do it twice. The 6th seeded Bulls stretched the series to 6 games. - Magic Johnson could not even win one game against the 1989 Pistons in the NBA Finals before his injury, even after his team went 11-0 in the Western Conference.

I can honestly say growing up and living here in the UK that Michael really is the 🐐. Basketball isn’t even big here in the UK, only a handful of people will have heard of Kobe, LeBron and Curry. No sport movie is better than Jordan's career. Everything is so symbolic. Rookie all-star by leading votes, banned shoes and reviving Nike and turning it to the best brand, broken leg and straight after best scorer of the league like noone. Jordan rules and sweeping Pistons when Phil Jackson came along, winning championship by giving assist, something he didn't do until then, he won when he started trusting his teammates. Father dies, returns at his late thirties and again first scorer and champion. Dominated in the era of the best centers! Never went to a game with no interest, every day was a show. The flu game, double nickle, 63 against Celtics in the Playoffs, 6 threes in the Finals. Even his last shot! He had to retire like that...

Most teams in the 90s were not built on flash like today's teams. They focused on fundamentals team oriented basketball. That is Spurs basketball... which is essentially the blueprint of every elite 90s team. You little kids say talent is so much better now compared the 90s. You say the game is more competitive... Yet the 2013 NBA Champion Spurs is a team built on veterans relying on team oriented basketball rather than talent. It's a team that is very remniscent of 90s era basketball. And the Spurs STILL put an assssss whoopin on Lebron and company. The Spurs are essentially a modern day 90s team. And yet the funny thing is, if they played the Bulls in the 90s, the Spurs would NEVER have won a championship going through MJ. That's how good Jordan was. That's how good Pippen was. And that's how good the Bulls were. Phil Jackson coached both Kobe and MJ and says MJ is the best. Even all-timers like Bird and Magix say MJ is the GOAT. Even Kobe admits MJ is the GOAT. +RogerWare Inc. He missed the '94 season and part of the '95 season. He came back mid-way through the '95 season (I think it was the end of March) and was unsurprisingly out of basketball shape. Not sure why you think nobody could beat that Rockets team. They had to go to game 7 to beat the Knicks, who were lucky to beat a Jordan-less Bulls team. No way to know for certain, but when you look at how dominating the Bulls were before Jordan retired, it's not completely out of the question to think they could have won 8 straight championships had he not left to play baseball.

Jordan himself said the Rockets were the one team he feared and was glad he never played in the finals, don't believe me? Look it up. Every Bulls game was a surreal experience at that time.

1. Every single team that Jordan lost to in the playoffs after his rookie year made the NBA Finals.
- Something you can't say about the 1983 Bucks, 1990 Suns, or 1990 Knicks that defeated either Bird's Celtics or Magic's Lakers.
2. The only team that didn't make it all the way to the Finals the very year after defeating MJ and his team in the play-offs, was the Milwaukee Bucks and that was during MJ's rookie season and debut play-off series in 1985.
- Those Bucks had Sidney Moncrief, who had just won his second Defensive Player of the Year in a row the previous season and was still the runner-up for the award in 1984-1985 season and the second runner-up in 1985-1986. Those Bucks also had one of the greatest defensive guards of all time in Paul Pressey. Keep in mind that no guard has ever won DPOY in the 2000s, and in his first ever playoff series, MJ already had to deal with a 2x DPOY guard in Moncrief.
- The Milwaukee Bucks made it to the ECF in 1984 play-offs and were defeated by the Boston Celtics who went on to win the Finals.
- However, not many people remember that in the 1983 play-offs, the Milwaukee Bucks swept the Boston Celtics in the first round of the play-offs. Those 1983 Celtics had Bird, Parish, McHale and Cedric Maxwell who was an ex-Finals MVP.
- One year after MJ's play-off debut, Bird's Celtics had to beat the Bucks again in the ECF on the way to Bird's last championship.
3. Jordan was drafted to a team of multiple cocaine addicts, Orlando Woolridge and Quintin Dailey were the only two that were caught breaching their contract due to their drug addiction and were eventually forced to leave the team in 1986.
- The Bulls become a play-off team after drafting MJ and were able to win one game in a 5 game series against the Milwaukee Bucks with a 8 seed team. Orlando Woolridge and Quintin Dailey, the very two cocaine addicts that ever eventually kicked out from the team also happened to be MJ's most valuable team-mates at that time. The Milwaukee Bucks made it to the ECF twice in a span of 3 years, and were very underrated considering the fact that they were able to sweep a stacked Celtics team that boasts of Larry Bird, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale and Cedric Maxwell who was an ex-Finals MVP.

To give you an idea how hard it is to do that, LeBron James was never able to average more than 8.5 assists per game for a single play-off season until the 2015 play-offs was over. For those claiming that this Celtics team was washed up, Bird was 1 rpg and 1 apg shy of a triple double, and McHale, Parish, and Lewis all played very well offensively. This wasn't the same Celtics team of the 80s. but they were still expected to beat the Knicks.
- Magic Johnson and Kareem lost to a 40-42 Rockets team in the first round of the 1981 playoffs while they were the reigning NBA champions. Larry Bird's first championship came against that same 40-42 Rockets team.
5. MJ has also never lost to a team lower than a number 2 seed. Unlike Bird, Magic or Kareem and many other greats, who have been knocked out by teams lower than number 2 seed in the play-off.
6. MJ's teams were able to defeat multiple play-off opponents with a top 10 all-time center and multiple NBA Finals opponents that were good enough to make it to the Finals after defeating play-off opponent/s with a top 10 all-time center.
- The 80s Lakers were never able beat a team with a great center in a play-off series. Parish might be a Hall of Fame center but he never made the playoffs in a season without Bird unless he was playing under 20 mpg off the bench. The 80s Lakers lost to Moses twice (1981 and 1983), and against Hakeem (1986), going a combined 2-10 in playoff games against them. These were the only times the 80s Lakers played a top 10 all-time center in a playoff series.
- In 1990, Magic Johnson's Lakers had a top 7 defense and offense and the best record in the league. Magic also won MVP that year. Even then, Magic lost to a 5 seed Suns team led by Kevin Johnson and no Charles Barkley in only 5 games.
- Jordan ended up beating a Suns team with Kevin Johnson as well as the MVP Charles Barkley in the 1993 Finals.
7) MJ and his team was the only team in history that ever swept the Bad Boy Pistons in a play-off series.
- Neither Larry Bird nor Magic Johnson has ever came close to sweeping the Bad Boy Pistons despite the fact that they have never ever played against the Detroit Pistons in the play-offs when the Pistons were officially and statistically the number 1 overall defense in the league with a current DPoY winner in the same year moving from regular season to post season. Dennis Rodman won DPOY in 1989-1990 and 1990-1991 regular season and the Piston's were the best defensive team in the league statistically.
8) MJ's Bulls were the only team that ever won a play-off game against the Detroit Pistons in the 1989 NBA play-off. No other team in the 1989 NBA play-off ever won a single play-off game against those Pistons except for MJ's Bulls and they were able to do it twice. The 6th seeded Bulls stretched the series to 6 games.
- Magic Johnson could not even win one game against the 1989 Pistons in the NBA Finals before his injury, even after his team went 11-0 in the Western Conference.

Rookie all-star by leading votes, banned shoes and reviving Nike and turning it to the best brand, broken leg and straight after best scorer of the league like noone. Jordan rules and sweeping Pistons when Phil Jackson came along, winning championship by giving assist, something he didn't do until then, he won when he started trusting his teammates. Father dies, returns at his late thirties and again first scorer and champion. Dominated in the era of the best centers! Never went to a game with no interest, every day was a show. The flu game, double nickle, 63 against Celtics in the Playoffs, 6 threes in the Finals. Even his last shot! He had to retire like that...

He left one season, 1994. No way in hell would have the bulls beaten the rockets that year. everyone forgets in 1995 he returned but the bulls were eliminated by the magic

Not sure why you think nobody could beat that Rockets team. They had to go to game 7 to beat the Knicks, who were lucky to beat a Jordan-less Bulls team. No way to know for certain, but when you look at how dominating the Bulls were before Jordan retired, it's not completely out of the question to think they could have won 8 straight championships had he not left to play baseball.
