You know... That steel pipe bending test is a true horror, every time I see it, it scares the sh*t out of me! Although none of your knives have broken yet. Great job, Cold Steel!

+balisonggames I am exactly the same way. It really freaks me out but how else are you going to prove to the audience and experts that the blade is flexible and strong.
The Cold Steel Tanto was the very first blade I spent over $100 for back in the early 80's. Subsequently I bought a Master Tanto with San Mai. I suppose an early one because mine has a brass hilt and butt as opposed to stainless. Awesomely strong razor sharp hard-edged blade. This vid just prompted me to take it out of storage and polish it up. Thanks for the video.
Been a fan even when I was a kid looking at catalogs as an adult only thing has changed is now I can afford your knives! What was the first knife and or product you made? I will love to own it!
I have the old version of this knife with the brass. This is a tough thick knife. It is a impressive knife. It may not be as long as a bowie but it will cut.
I just realized mine is probably fake as its not this resilient and I got it for Christmas but just to make sure : will bricks damage the base and/or tip of this knife?
@w00tkid It's a tanto style knife. Which basically translates to a very powerful and strong tip used for thrust cutting (aka stabbing) try this with a normal knife and your guaranteed to A.) Break the tip, or B.) bend it

I have never had to sharpen them i've just been able to touch them up and they've been razor sharp, but I have a friend who bought a native kukri that came dull. I have way more experience sharpening blades then him but the kukri blade shape just is hard to sharpen, do you guys have any advice?
@airsoftguy85rocks Well it does show the pommel is capable of hitting stuff, I used to break cinder blocks with my fists you just need to hit them in the right spot.
@Skilledman89 the only test that count is the point test (stabbing into wood) for ashuring those dont break off, the bending test, and the cutting test for soft (meat) and hard (wood) every other thing is just to make it look good :D
@cobalt120 Definetely. I have myself few of Cold Steel knives, had even opportunity to play with the master tanto as my friend has one, and they're great in my opinion. And I have their bokken - I believe it could smash a real brick after watching my friend smash an iron pipe in half with several hits. And I actually enjoy their spotlights for every product. They show durability, cutting and stabbing abilities on things we know from our backyard so we can catch glimpse of what it's capable of.
pimi tupou Thanks sir. I am sorry but this will be a long comment haha. I have came across a individual online that makes Japanese weapons and made a video pointing out tantos could be curved or straight. Japan had a lot of variety and different designs that different users preferred. This also applies to their swords and all other weapons. He said if you come across ancient tanto that is kind of long and has a more prominent curve it was most likely made after the Sengoku period samurais prefered to design them to be like a short sword with a curve while in the Sengouku period they were designed more for stabbing through amour. These blades were straight. This was because the Sengoku period was the warring states period. The blacksmith informed me Japan actually created scientific terms to classify the different degrees of curvatures and lengths of blades because they didn't always followed a strict code of standard design. They shaped weapons to fit what ever roles the user needed it to perform for them. This means it wasn't impossible to find weapons maybe a sword, knife, or spear point to have a blade shaped like a right angle triangle. If you ever come across a katana that has a straight blade and is claimed to be made in ancient times don't immediately think it is fake. There were straight ones. This kind of shatters the stereotype of how Japanese weapons are to me and the excessive anime/Japanophile enthusiast has about their weapons. They did spent a long time of research to eventually lead to the modern stereotype katana but, they were open minded enough to let individuals shape their weapons differently and wouldn't mind changing their standard to best suited accomplishing their current task. Heck they were also open minded enough to use some guns in their warfare despite the stigma and also change their amour design to making it more resistant to the matchlocks later on. Sorry for the long reply. I just thought this was cool info either you or someone else would enjoy finding out about. Have a nice day.
Wow they used a easily splintering wood to do the point test. Still the point is pretty thick so the very tip is probably the only thing that would roll in a really strenuous test.

@nightmarefacility I tried to explain to you in relatively simple language, that comparing karate gimmicks to weapon performance, is somehow out of place, since weapons are meant to give you an edge in a fight. And even if a martial artist CAN break cinder blocks with theri hands, they don't have stabproof guts, and cutproof limbs. Also comparing a knife pommel to a hammer isn't exactly smart, since hammers make great improvised weapons. The knife however is more concealable and universal.
Dear cold steel, i have been a fan of your products and a user for almost ten years (i have some carbon v knives). I have at least one knife of every steel you make.
