I am in Columbus Ohio and we have Kentucky blue grass. I am beginning to fertilize with the Scott turf builder. Can I alternate TB with Scott’s Green Max about 6 weeks after the TB? The lawn already exist. I was also wanting to reseed to make the lawn thicker. Any ideas? Your video was fantastic for me as I am a new beginner!
Good to hear. I would avoid the Scott’s products during the summer time as it’s quick release and we want to slow things down in the heat. Save those for spring and fall. Organic slow release like Milorganite is great for the summer heat. I’d wait for late August for an overseed and then use your Scott’s products in September and October. 👍🏽
When September and October come around should I alternate the TB with GM every 6 weeks to prepare for fall or is there a “winterization” technique I should use for when spring/summer comes in 2024?
Either will be great in the fall. Winterize by putting down any high N like the TB or Green Max fertilizer before it snows. Overseed plus those fertilizers and on Halloween your lawn will look rediculous.
Great video. Do you feel that in a cool season lawn that as long as you do a light feeding in spring (may) that no more fertilizer is needed til Sept and Oct?
Thank you! You can apply Milorganite/Moorganite or any slow release organics fertilizers around July 4th. After that it is inadvisable to fertilize until cooler temps show up later in August/sept. Hope that helps.
Would Milo around July 4th be a bad thing? Their website schedule says to throw down on the holidays. It does have phosphorus which you talked about as a no-no for the summer.
Milorganite is great for July 4th. High phosphorus like a 10-10-10 is not a great idea. If your lawn is in good shape to begin with you won’t have any large problems with weeds.
solid info, and no messing around.... this definitely shows in the high performance of your yard
Ha, thank you! I try and keep it to the point. I’m not a good entertainer so we keep it simple.
I've always had a hard time deciding how much fertilizer to use in my lawn, but this video just made it so much clearer. Thank you.
Glad to hear that. Thanks for letting me know.
how tf do you only have 4.6k subs. your content is a lot more informative than most.
Thats the voice we love to hear
Lol. again, thanks for catching that! Good work.
My lawn hasn't looked this good in years thanks for all the great information...the perfect cut🙌
Lol, glad to hear that, Blake!!!
This information is pure gold. Exactly the summary I was hoping to find to get my Kentucky bluegrass looking it's best.
Great to hear, thanks for letting me know. Enjoy that Bluegrass.
I must say, I would take the advice of someone whose lawn looks like that. Great video. Love this series 👍💚🦸
Thanks for watching, Keith! Always a pleasure to see you come across the screen.
