Good tips. North and south East and west... Because I did and looks funny. My husband said looks like you decorated the lawn.:) Good thing he doesn't care. He knows I'll fixed it.
I recently started a new lawn as a new home build. Grass isstaring to grow, along with a lot of weeds. Can I use fertilizer now? What else should I use?
Hello, nice video👍. It would be possible to apply fertilizer and seed to it with the spreader to restore the lawn which has weeds and several dry areas with very little volume of grass. I have never worked with grasses and I don't know if after putting seed to make the grass grow if I can also put fertilizer to prevent weed. The grass type is Fecue and the date is 4/22/24, I'm in NC Thank you!
Alright so does just putting down fertilizer do anything for the weeds. I have a few and I was going to do a weed and feed. Should I just put down a fertilizer?
We just bought a house. Grass has hella weeds everywhere. It’s now 80 in Texas with 90s temp in the 10 day forecast. What do you recommend to apply to my lawn to start tackling the weeds and grow some healthy green grass? .25 acre home
I have a very small front lawn. Is there another product I can use for a smaller area? I don't want to buy a big bag when I really only need about 1/5 of it.
I threw down 1.00# nitrogen 4 weeks ago. It was already growing strong before then. Maybe i'll back that off a little next time. Has never looked better though, mowing at 4". Got some Menards natural fertilizer I was gonna use soon. Prepping for lawn level project in a couple of weeks once the zoysia contaminant in my lawn decides to grow. Hope i don't go from greatness to weed heaven.
Hey man I just planted perennial rye 17 days ago, I put starter fertilizer down during seeding. When should I re apply fertilizer and what type/kind should I use?
Talk about a kick in the face. I sprayed the entire front AND backyard this morning with chelated iron. Within minutes of me finishing, the landscape company shows up to cut my grass. 🤦♂️
I must be ignorant or something... but nobody is answering the question: When to apply fertilizer after you apply it...? So you applied the flagship... now when should you apply it again?
Dude im in Louisiana and im out here wondering when its ever gonna stop raining. I cant do anything to my lawn the last 2 weeks. I put down pre emergent and some weed killer like a day before this rain and I think I just threw my money down the proverbial drain.
Pre emergents don’t really stop broadleaf weeds. Over time of killing clover etc and getting your lawn thicker the weeds will be less and less. I hardly ever get any weeds in my home lawn
Off topic but I always see your IU flag , thoughts on Woodson? Glad you guys finally canned our guy Miller (I’m an NC State fan) .... he was too good for us yrs ago and wouldn’t even speak to us bc our fans “Have unrealistic expectations” then went to IU and failed miserably. Hopefully you guys come back to life under Woodson!
I actually really liked Archie, I thought he was going to be our guy. I think he needed 2 more years. That being said, I think the fact that most of the players are staying and we have some transfers coming in, Woodson will have IU playing well very soon
What do you think of applying a second application of pre emerge? Is it needed and do you ever do that? I’m putting down a 0-0-7 soon and then was thinking of going with another pre emerge for my second app with some nitrogen in it. Or is it better off to go with a straight fertilizer? Thanks
I like to do a split application of pre emergent in the spring. Half the rate when soil temps are around 55 degrees, the other half about 40 days later
I like to do a split application of pre emergent in the spring. Half the rate when soil temps are around 55 degrees, the other half about 40 days later
Only concern with the Flagship is that the amount applied to the lawn appears low due to coverage in the bag. Used to a product you can easily see getting dispersed with a greater volume. In other words, it’s quite concentrated based on the lbs. per bag and coverage in square feet.
You mean you’re used to milorganite? Most (almost all) fertilizers are generally 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet gets you .75lb of N. You can still see this fertilizer coming out of the spreader even at 2 pounds per 1,000 due to the color
@@TheLawnWhisperer I only used Milorganite twice perhaps in the past. More like Sunniland’s 16-0-8 covering 11000 SF with 50# bag. Less concentrated perhaps.
Great video. I'm trying to figure out what is a great slow release fertilizer and a great fast release fertilizer. I do have one section that I really want to punch it in the face
Ya you won’t burn if you weigh and apply it evenly at the correct rates... that and you haven’t already applied a ton of other similar products already I’d guess?
I follow both you and allyn. Do these new yard mastery ferts (or any fert really) replace milo? Should milo be used with it? Can milo be used as the only fertilizer? Looking for some clarity. Thanks for all your help.
@@TheLawnWhisperer thank you! One last thing - how long can I keep an opened bag of fert for? Some bags cover 15,000 square feet or more which can last me at least two seasons. Can I keep an opened bag in the shed and use it the following season?
Great video, very informative At any time, do you put down pellet or fast acting lime? If so, does that go down before any fertilizers or is it ok to put down at the same time?
Dude, why do you have to make it so complex? I am going to bypass my lawn treatment company and want to start doing the fertilizing myself this year. I thought the first treatment is suppose to have ingredients in it that will keep weeds and crabgrass from emerging?
In the first 25 seconds of this video I say “I did a step 1 on a pre emergent, go back and watch that video..” literally exactly what you’re looking for, dude
I just applied fertilizer this past Sunday, the following Tuesday morning it rained pretty good here in North Houston on my St. Augustine grass. How soon after should I begin to use my sprinkler? Great video
Thrower Down!
This Whisperer guy just broke the 3 pound rule, he's not a real lawn care nut !! 🤣
Yes! I just recently put this same fertilizer down. Good stuff! 😎
I feel like I'm cheating on LCN watching these vids and he just walked in on us.

Great video sir! I like the tips about not smashing the grass in the face too early in the season. Good stuff. 👍😎
That beat was HARD...great content man
My Lowe’s and Home Depot don’t carry that Lesco fert. You can get free delivery to the store though. Great vid!
What a transformation from past years at your parents place. Looks amazing. 👊🏼👍🏻
Pretty crazy with just 2 applications (3 if you count the one from 2 years ago). Grass is awesome
I remember when I tried spreading fert so as to meet in the middle 🤦🏼♂️ .. that’s what she said. Glad I learned the proper way a few years ago.
Gotta be careful when you slap your bag. 😂
Great video! That flagship looks pretty good!
I recently started a new lawn as a new home build. Grass isstaring to grow, along with a lot of weeds. Can I use fertilizer now? What else should I use?
Solid video as always. Appreciate you giving options that you like from the big box stores as well.
Flagship is doing work! The lawn is going to look awesome!
That lawn is going to be popping after the weeds are gone. The strips are going to be on fire 🔥. Nice work my man 👍🏼.
Nice job on the parents lawn. Looking much better.
Smells like success!! I just got my flagship yesterday!!!
Looks amazing man !! Put my 2nd dose of sanctuary down 3 days ago and man did the lawn pop today !! Thanks Brother !
What?
Is sanctuary what does that mean
I’m liking the Flagship and stress blends, definitely helps with the spoon feedings. 😎
I know I’m three years late, but do you use a fertilizer and whatever this sanctuary you speak of? Or is it one or the other

I'm expecting a child so now I'm learning the ways of the "dad"
Is there an irrigation system for your parents house? If not looks good for not having one.

Yes!!!

My dad really likes Triple 16.
Do I do what’s in the last video first ?
I recommend using a fertilizer with some iron in it for a deeper green.
Flagship has 3 percent iron.
How do you figure your spreader settings with The Anderson spreader? Is it trial and error and figuring out how much comes out per 1,000sq ft?
I have a very small front lawn. Is there another product I can use for a smaller area? I don't want to buy a big bag when I really only need about 1/5 of it.
Another bad a$$ video man. Can’t wait for the next one.
Oh and the music choice for this video 💪🏼
You gotta try some of Lescos Carbon ProG. Half biochar, half compost. Really good soil amendment.
Can you fertilize & put the weed killer same time
You can put down granular fertilizer and then spray weeds right after yes
Great video Justin !
Dippin' Dots! Hahaha...yes.
Great video. Very helpful information.
I got dandelions and other various weeds...very bad moss problem probably scarify first. Then thow down....Scott's 3 in 1
I sprayed my lawn down yesterday with weed killer especially for clover and then threw Fertiliser down. I hope I didn't screw it up
Does your book advice for different zones? I'm in Chicago suburbs..
Just ordered a bag of flagship to get ready for my Sons bday on May 5th!
My Lowe’s has the Lesco but only in 30-0-11. Would that be a good substitute?
Say u fertilized only vertical one night, the next morning can you go back over it going horizontal?
They have well water?
That lawn is starting to look slappy AF! 👏👏
Nice video. Have to get a bag. Music was perfect.

Where did the dandelions go when you just put down fertilizer?
It’s a freshly mowed lawn so I would say chopped up
That sanctuary reminds me of the doc supper juice 😂
Snake oil
Let it grow naturally... don't force it... slow release... got it 😉
We need a video update on the new property???
Location, Location, Location. Where is 'here'? In Central Texas, things are much different.
Hi, Can I fertilize straight after mowing, or is it best to wait 2-3 days
finally explained for me. Thank you
Hello- what would happen if I were to water my lawn with weed b gon after I’ve laid fertilizer?
Hey man I just planted perennial rye 17 days ago, I put starter fertilizer down during seeding. When should I re apply fertilizer and what type/kind should I use?
Do you recommend going 4wd on the crocs while laying down granular, or should i stay 2wd and live on the edge?
Man that’s a tough call. I’d probably live on the edge, but don’t get too close. May be hard to get yourself out of a rut if you get in too deep
First Aussie 😁. You spread it well 😎👍👍
Lawns looking good
I put down Lesco 007 pre emergent in late March and milo about a week later. I also plan on using the flagship about May 1. What do you think?
Should / can I put any of these down with Sanctuary ? I already put down one ap of sanctuary with my pre em
Great video!!! your parents' lawn looks better n better!
Great results with the flagship! Plan on using it in the fall as my primary fertilizer then
Talk about a kick in the face. I sprayed the entire front AND backyard this morning with chelated iron.

Oooooooooh Yeeeeeaaaaah, good tips Justin!, 🔥Beats 🔥
I must be ignorant or something... but nobody is answering the question:
When to apply fertilizer after you apply it...?
So you applied the flagship... now when should you apply it again?
I’ll apply again in about 4 weeks another .5lb of nitrogen
@@TheLawnWhisperer thanks master! You rock.
At 4 if he can resist at 3 weeks 🤣🦩🤘🏼
@@lawn2learn that’s my issue.... i want more growth than I’m getting I think... anxious
In So.Cal…we call that grass area a PARK! 😩
What's with the phosphorus free?
If you need phosphorous then pick a fertilizer with phos. Too much phos in the soil can bind up other nutrients so they aren’t usable
Stripes are something I think I’m gonna struggle with. Usually means more fertilizer got on a spot
Hi, I am 13 years old and am going to start a lawn mowing business any tips?
Get a self propelled mower
The tip masters unit would of made short work of Broadcasting the fertilizer 👍
What in the world is a tip master? Sounds like @the lawn care nuts nickname in college
is all this pet friendly?
Water it in and then once it’s dry you’re good to go
