    Wow great video , I thought my 2009 Chevy Silverado was the only rust bucket out there, I need the same type of work done, it’s in the shop now and it all started when I went to change the rear shocks, one upper mount was completed rusted off , the guy at the shop removed the bed, called me to come down and have a look, and that’s when I saw the rusted crossmember, rusted gas straps, and even more holes in the main chassis , what a rust bucked, 2000 to fix but he is sand blasting the frame, painting it, fixing the shock mounts,gas straps and cross member also fixed an exhaust leak, changing the rusted rear differential cover and evaporate hose. I want to fix it and sell it. Not a fan of the Chevy Silverado ,also have a collapsed lifter I have to deal with, no more Silverados for this guy, even satellite radio reception sucks on the truck and blown ac unit, too many problems.

      only $2000 for all that work? Damn, my 2004 GMC sierra 1500 is about the same state, except my bumper supports are also rusted through, just trying to find a solid shop near me right now for the work.

    Nicely done. Have had to remove pickup beds before for various reasons. When wrestling with broken bolts (I hate overhead welding) I had a system set up to take the bed off with lift or we had a gantry, then set up saw horses with 4x4s covered in high density foam. Once resting on that, we raised up the rear with gantry or we had a mobile A-frame hoist, resting the bed on the front, cushioned by the foam, and ½ of the weight held from above the bed. That way it was much easier to get to the bolts.
    Like the studs instead of bolts. Makes setting the bed 75% easier, especially working solo.
    Again.... kudos on a job well done. 👏

    Good video bud. The customer should pay you to replace the bed rails. He's in this far anyway= truck payment for 6 months. He'll know what he has in it. And get it krown sprayed every year + regular maintenance= it Will last and easily pay for itself.

    I have to say a lot of viewers asked how much it would cost to do the work. Would it have killed you to give a range or ball park. Really like it is a state secret.

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The costs vary so greatly from truck to truck the range could be $1000-$5000. There are too many variables to lock down a specific range when it comes to price. That is why I have everyone send me pictures. This way I can give you a more direct price quote. It's not that it's a secret, it's more that I don't want people thinking they can get it done for 1500 bux and when they get the bill it's 5k.

      @lsimpson6223 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One other point on cost is location of repairs. Rust/salt damage worse in NE parts of the country, but if you had the work done in a large city, usually price will be more, partly due to overhead and cost of living. Smaller towns away from the bigger metropolitan areas might run 35-50% less. The COL is less. Also depends where parts are purchased. As was stated earlier, it is not practical to give a price on work that has so many variables. Unfair to the technician and to the owner.
      Been there, done that before, and it ain't fun.

    It must be alot if you can't give prices as the people we would like to know a estimate for a job like that would cost 🤑💵💸💶💷💰

    • @MorFabIndustries
      @MorFabIndustries  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly it’s tough to give a ball park as it could be a $500 repair or a $5000 repair. It all depends on the level of rot, how many crossmembers are effected, if it’s a 1500, 2500, or 3500. If the bed comes off easy or all the bolts snap. The variables are endless. Without having the vehicle in front of me, I can’t even estimate cost.
