I wasn't expecting a video so soon. 😢❤️😊 You just answered a question I always wanted au pairs who are still there to answer (which they never did). Thank you K.
If my host parents will prove their bank account. That doesn’t mean that they really have to sponsor me right? They just need to see that someone is available to sponsor me. But if I’ll find a job I can pay for my school…if it’s gonna be like community college…which is not that expensive.
Wow! You covered EVERYTHING! Thank you. I have a question. How do people pay for living costs while studying overseas? The host family may not employ you so how do you live? THanks again.
Absolutely loved this video! So informative! A little clarity please… so you finished your au pair year then lived with your now husband and started the process or did you start this while in the process of being an au pair? And another more personal question… can you work while in the process of getting married and awaiting your green card?
Great video. But you don't have to wait till 5 years when married to a US Citizen, after 2-3 years you can apply for your citizenship. Before you end your service with your lawyer be sure to confirm. You can also work as an international student on-campus jobs (note writing for the impaired, book store, RA etc). Ppl work outside the school, but it's usually not something that's broadcasted.
This is very informative. Thank you Karabo...♥ Another way of staying in the US legally is through a DV lottery. Although I don't know all the steps, I would definitely appreciate it if you share any information regarding it.
@@KaraboMareka I only found about it last year through a friend who is a DV lottery winner. I participated on it last year early in October. Results will be out early in May this year.
@Rejoyce people all over the world apy to win the lottery every year, applications run between Oct and Nov, results come back May every year, 55,000 now 80,000 are given Greencards. If you are already in the US and u win this lottery then you just adjust your status, once you do the interview and pass it, you are given permanent residency (Greencard) . Hello, may I please get some some clarity on the study visa route... So my host family can become my sponsor after the one year of au pairing, I have to begin the study process while I'm still au pairing and does the student visa interview happen in my home country?
Yes if you family chooses to they can be your sponsor. And yes you will need to have a visa of some sort in process before you Au pair visa ends. You can choose to go home and start the application there or do it while you’re still in the USA (if you do it in the USA you can’t leave the country while you’re studying)
Nope didn’t apply for anything. Just after I got married we applied for the green card which we’re still waiting on. That’s when I’ll get the work permit
Thank you for all the information! My question is after I finish my au pair year and decide to apply for a university , Can I get a full scholarship ? is it possible? or I have to have a sponsor.
hi karabo.I want to ask something. Can we spend the last two or three years of our university in the USA with an au pair? This could be a scholarship, or the au pair family will cover it and say you should babysit us for 1 more year. Is this accepted? Do you have any information? I want to study in the USA and I want to live there too
@@KaraboMarekaWill the au pair family send us to university by paying the fee? Or do we have to pay, maybe we can win a scholarship? So, after the au pair ended, we stayed with the family for 1 or 2 years, and then I want to study at the university in America. What path can I follow?
I don’t know. Every family is different. By the way majority of families don’t send their Au pairs to university. Just a few. If your family really likes you and has the money to they won’t mind. But it doesn’t happen often.
Also, families don’t really owe you anything. Yoh have to figure out your life when you’re done. You have to figure out where to live etc, they don’t have to accommodate you … like I said earlier most families do not do this! I don’t want you thinking that they do. It’s just an option. I only know 3 Au pairs in my entire Au pair journey whose families had done this. And I know hundreds and hundreds of Au pairs. It’s just an option if you’re lucky
If we get to the process of staying and studying, Am I allowed to waiter (for exaple) to get money. Or am I not allowed to work while studying? Sorry if I missed it 🫢
