One of my favorite albums of the 80s! The guitar work is incredible. "Heaven Sent" is one of my favorites from this album. From Under Lock and Key, "The Hunter" is great. George Lynch is the reason I picked up a guitar at 9 years old back in 1983. I got to meet him finally a few years back at a Lynch Mob show at a really small venue. It was pretty cool, he was super nice and willing to stand around and chat with us. My inner child was friggin thrilled!
I listen to Dokken just for George Lynch's guitar work. Effing fire. He was up for lead guitar with Ozzy twice but was beat out by Randy Rhoads and Jake E. Lee.
Saw them 3 times back in the day , fantastic band. George Lynch , guitar beast. this song was written about / during the Aids crisis. deep subject. another deep song by them is " Lost behind the wall "" Into the fire" and" its not love are great". for a power ballad check out the song " Alone Again" one of the best power ballads ever written , IMO.
Dokken is part of the timeless band collection. It's great for any age. If you haven't heard Dokken before then your missing out and you should listen to this. Awesome reaction.. Turning the page I want you to react to Steve Vai's new guitar :)
For me as well, George was at his absolute best on this album. Every song had fantastic lead guitar in it, a main- and equally great outro solo. With Lynch's legendary phrasing, the tone, vibrato, and overall unique voice.
@@hmpz36911 They had some tracks that were deemed as speed metal such as Tooth and Nail and Turn on the Action. Dokken was was of the heavier sounding "Glam Metal" bands.
@@crazeyjoe Yeah, Tooth was definitely speed metal ish, if you mean Accept, Exciter, Pretty Maids etc. Dokken would have sounded amazing if they had that production that Loudness had on "Thunder In The East".
I was lucky enough to see Dokken tear it up w/ John Levin on guitar and Mick Brown on drums... Mick Brown recently left the band... Don Dokken (vocals) has not been performing optimally due to health issues of late, but he and original guitarist George Lynch have made peace after years of animosity. In fact, George Lynch has been showing up at Dokken shows and playing the encores. Dokken songs to check out - 'Just got lucky'... 'Paris is burning'... "It's not love"... 'Too high to fly'... 'Change the world'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥 Loudness is the only Japanese band to break big in the US from the 80's... Thankfully, they are still going strong today!
Great reaction. I did what every good metal-loving father has done...I introduced my son to hair metal from a young age. His favorite Dokken songs were FELONY, YOUNG GIRLS, and INTO THE FIRE (he had no idea what the first two were about). He was about 5, maybe younger, and I'd hear him singing INTO THE FIRE from memory. Dokken is one of my favorites.
Awesome! All our parties had to have some Dokken back in the day! Mr. Scary, Burning Like A Flame, Tooth And Nail.. Plus all the others mentioned here. Too many to list. Also check out Lynch Mob!
Great Dokken song, the subject matter being AIDS in this instance. Funnily enough I was just listening to a very different Dokken track, "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!" lmao
george lynch is a guitar god. he was one of the first if not the first endorser for japanese guitar brand ESP of japan. he discovered the brand while in japan in the mid eighties. george build his own guitars at ESP custom shop in california.
Amazing song by the end of the 80’s. Proof that good heavy metal was being produced made in US. George Lynch one of the best metal guitarists without a doubt. You must check some of the recent partnerships between Lynch and Michael Sweet of Stryper. Merry Rock’n’Roll Christmas! God bless.
Please check out "Til the Livin' End" and "Tooth and Nail". Both absolute bangers from this iconic hair metal band featuring one of the better vocalists and arguably one of the top 3 guitarists of the genre.
Awesome song. If you want to hear a shred-tastic instrumental, check out "Mr. Scary". George Lynch is off the charts! Probably mentioned in other comments, but this came out when AIDS was becoming a big thing, so the world was changing from "Be careful so you don't catch something" to "Be careful so you don't die!"
DOKKEN masterclass musicians...here you are listenin' to one of the best metal album ever and Lynch is the spirit of guitar so we call him King George🎸
Definitely should check some other George Lynch projects as well. 1st of all the instrumental track of this album, Mr. Scary, named after his guitar, is killer. Start with the early Lynch Mob stuff. Wicked Sensation, the title track off the 1st Lynch Mob album is a great track! Other great tracks too, whole album is good: River of Love, Sweet Sister Mercy, All I Want, She’s Evil, but She’s Mine, Street Fighting Man, No Bed Of Roses, Through These Eyes, and For A Million Years. The 2nd album is great too, Jungle of Love, Tangled in the Web, Cold is the Heart, When Darkness Calls.
I think "Back For The Attack" was where Dokken put it all together really. I love their prior albums, but this one, just sets the pace. If you want to explore a litter further back, "Don't Close Your Eye's" from "Tooth and Nail" is a nice fast pace trac. The entire "Tooth and Nail" album is good and so is "Under Lock and Key". Most of their other songs are as heavy but a tic slower paced but right on the bullseye. "Don't Close Your Eye's" though is a good one.

This is one of the best from that album. Equally so are Burning Like A Flame, and the title track (a single at first, then added later). Everyone refers to 'Dream Warriors' because of the horror film use, but to be honest it's a bit milktoast compared to these other rockin' tunes.
Speakign of Japanese metal, i see you've only reacted to X Japan once, and it was a more recent song. You should do more of them, especially older stuff from the 80's and 90's such as "Kurenai", "X", "Rose of Pain", "Art of Life", "Silent Jealousy", "Endless Rain". This is one band where I think live is much better, you have to see the band and their audience to fully appreciate it all. Them and Loudness are probably the two most influential Japanese metal bands, pretty much all of the ones popular today were influenced by them in some way.
🔥🤘'Back For The Attack' is an incredible album. Not a weak track on it. Dokken were/are crazy popular in Japan.

Top Metal band
Speakign of Japanese metal, i see you've only reacted to X Japan once, and it was a more recent song. You should do more of them, especially older stuff from the 80's and 90's such as "Kurenai", "X", "Rose of Pain", "Art of Life", "Silent Jealousy", "Endless Rain". This is one band where I think live is much better, you have to see the band and their audience to fully appreciate it all. Them and Loudness are probably the two most influential Japanese metal bands, pretty much all of the ones popular today were influenced by them in some way.
I cringe everytime I hear that untuned note (or extremelly forced push from below pitch) 😢 4:58
George Lynch is a all time badass on 🎸even today.
