I use to film my off-road adventures. Cameras do NOT do hills justice. The second hill was pretty impressive. I don’t think I would have had the nerve to turn around on it lol.
You’ve got that right! You just can’t see how steep it really is on video. That first run on the steep hill I thought the front would lift up for sure lol. But surprisingly it never did. Hope everything is going good for you man. Appreciate you watching. 👍

Such a wide stance. Low center of gravity. Just does extremely well on slopes. Always use CAUTION when on slopes though. Thanks so much for watching! 👍

We are mowing 10" high grass at 5" the Scag is the only mower we found that would hold up in our Heat and not bog down. The Scag has 1900 RPM blade tip speed. All (name brand) mowers are good. The Scag is the best in our market (Freeport Florida) at mowing 10" high Bahia grass. We run Scag V-Ride II we buy new for $8,500 then trade-in at 500 hours for $5,800 (same dealer). That' $2,700 divided by 500 hours comes to $5.40 per mowing hour. We run 500 hours a season we buy a new mower every 11 - 13 months. Here is the math we run mower for 500 hours a season. Dec, Jan, Feb (0.0 hours per day) March, April, (3.5 hours per day) may, June, July (6.5 hours per day) Aug, Sept, Oct (5.0 hours per day) November (3.5 hours per day). We work a 4 day work week Tuesday - Friday for a total of 27 weeks of mowing with an average of 18.5 hours a week comes to 499.5 hours of mowing at $5.40 per hour cost us $2,700 per year to run Scag V-Ride II. Now $5.40 add fuel $10.00 an hour add Labor $15.00 an hour for a total of $30.40 an hour to own/run a Scag V-Ride II. its all about knowing your numbers. This is one reason our number is $120.00 an hour. The Scag is the cheapest/less expensive mower to buy and run into the ground like we do.
I love my Scag V Ride 2! I always used sit downs until last summer. Whether you choose Scag, Wright, Ferris, etc. the standers are the way to go in my opinion. For acreage a sit down is preferable, but not essential.
Nice! Surprisingly, I felt less fatigued and more comfortable cutting lots of acres on the Z3X last year. I bought it thinking I would mow the small lawns only with it. But I never would get off of it lol.

Yeah, the Z3X holds even better than the z2. Very wide stance. Very secure on hills. You will love it. Let me know when you get it. That’s awesome that you were able to find one. They were sold out around here last year. Guys were waiting 6+ months to get them. But I really like the mowers. We have 2 of them now. Very comfortable ride with the pivoting front axle! 😎
Here's another BIG plus for the dry sump oil system. If running steep hills and your oil level runs low you can wipe out the top bearing in a hurry, (engine disaster). Dry sump won't have that problem, it has 5quarts in the tank. Good steady flow of oil, not air bubbles.
haha that explains why my customer's exmark blew up after they never added oil. it's steep over there... i am getting z3 61 this week and needed to see this steep footage as i demoed z2 52 but they didn't have z3 but going bigger and better . mulcher. thank you!
I mow one lawn with a steep slope, and just knowing I could step off rather than try to stand up and get off if it did go bad I feel confident that I made the right decision.

Cameron, yesterday I installed the mulch kit on my Ferris Z2 52 and tested it out on 1 lawn. I was moderately pleased with the final look. After double cutting (triple in some places) the leaves were substantially reduced in size, but still very noticeable. These leaves were fresh and a little wet. They did not pulverize, but were reduced and remained visible. Do I need to adjust my expectations (was hoping for pulverized leaves that could barely be seen)? I used the wavy mulch blades that came with the kit. I did not X blade. Your thoughts? God bless you brother!
Hey Steven! Switch out the wavy blades and install the regular oem high lift blades with the mulch kit. You will get more suction and better results. At least I do with the 37HP Vanguard EFI. The mulch blades don’t do very well with leaves bc they don’t lift the leaves off the ground to mulch. Instead they kind of mulch whatever is on top. Switch over to the high lift blades and let me know what you think about mulching leaves that way. Check out my other videos where I shred them to absolutely nothing! Hope that helps out for you! @@stevenclark5450 Oh ok. We just run the single standard high lift blades. As long as you have the HP it will destroy leaves. We did the same thing with the 34HP Toro mowers - Mulch Kits with High Lift blades. Been running that setup for 18 years! Works great! 😍

I was blown away with how good they worked!! The lawn had a very good covering of leaves and was very heavy in a few places. I double cut the lawn, going up a row and coming back in the same row. The result was incredible! The leaves were turned into dust and disappeared into the grass. WOW! WOW! I want to thank you for your videos and for answering a few of my questions. For me, this will be a game changer. Thank you, thank you!! Steve

I've done hills steeper than that with an exmark lazer z and it handled fine. You just gotta start at the bottom and work up, keeping those swivels from pointing downhill
I mow 5+ acres of my own land with a few hills (couple can be pretty steep) my sit down does fairly well on them. In your opinion would I get “tired” of standing mowing that much? How do you feel after mowing standing up a few hours a day? I’ve never owned a stand on but really want to purchase the exact mower you have.
Great question! I put 600 hours on the mower last year. Having ran sit down zero turns for 20 years, I can say that I felt better after getting off the Z3X after a long hard day of work. It’s very comfortable and I feel less fatigue. It’s a more natural position for your body. We weren’t made to sit. I would contact your local Dealer and see if you could schedule a demo to make sure a Stander is for you. I love it though! And I often stand 5 hours straight on it mowing big properties. I bought the 2023 scag vride 2 last summer and I don’t like it I’m going to the Ferris dealer tomorrow to see if we can do a trade they have one z3x on the floor I owe 10 k on scag if they can’t give me that I’ll just keep it couldn’t be more disappointed with a mower, very uncomfortable just the design. The pad is too far forward up top. The only part of the pad I use is for my knees. It’s like I’m downhill skiing All the time ur knees are always bent doesn’t get great traction either like my windstorm the frame is so rigid your always dragging a tire when u are turning I think the pivoting front end is going to be a huge improvement in the mobility. I really hope these guys at Ferris can hook me up tomorrow. I’m not happy with the v ride or the windstorm.
@ nope the ferris dealer took it in trade..everybody has different tastes but this mower is night and day compared to the v ride all the same hills up and down slopes across where the scag would be slipping and sliding dragging the tires marking up my lawns it’s a walk in the park for zx3
@ yup makes a huge difference not having such a rigid front end. My Windstorm is so stiff if you come to even a root in the ground that sticks up an inch it’ll almost stop your right knee Tracks. I wished I had gotten the Ferris, but can’t afford to keep buying $14,000pieces of equipment over a small gripes the ability to move the nozzle with the flick of a switch instead of just side to side and out front is huge so you have to make sacrifices

Awesome. I have to say after running the Z3X for years, I prefer it over the Trimstar now. Wider stance and easier to swing around at the end. But the Trimstar really is a mower that a lot of guys overlook. Thanks for sharing the video. It’s hard to gauge how steep the hills are in the video, but now I have the Ventrac and it’s at a whole new level for these hills. 😳
Thanks man. I appreciate that. I’ve mowed this hill for over 15 years now, so I’ve put some hours on it lol. We used to String Trim it all when we first started. Then we tried to push mow it. Then we bought our Hustler Trimstar Walkbehind and mowed it for a long time with that mower. Finally sold the Hustler and thankful the Z3X can hang on this hill! 👍

I didn’t like the Wright version when I tested it out at the GIE. Maybe small lawns, but definitely couldn’t sit on that thing all day lol.

2nd hill looks like a 35 degree slope
I was hoping to measure the slope and let you guys know how steep it is. Maybe I can do that this year. But yeah, it’s very steep!
That hill ain’t even steep could mow that blindfolded one handed with any stander and a flat tire

Stick with the Trimstars they are billy goats on hills and are more durable than any other mower.

@@TheLawnCareLifeinMowssouri Oh yes here in Atlanta we have some wicked hills. I first started off with a Wright 36i and was having terrible times side cutting. Then I got a 54" Trimstar and it's phenomenal. Here is about the flattest yard I have with the 54" putting in work.

Awesome. I have to say after running the Z3X for years, I prefer it over the Trimstar now. Wider stance and easier to swing around at the end. But the Trimstar really is a mower that a lot of guys overlook. Thanks for sharing the video. It’s hard to gauge how steep the hills are in the video, but now I have the Ventrac and it’s at a whole new level for these hills. 😳

Thanks man. I appreciate that. I’ve mowed this hill for over 15 years now, so I’ve put some hours on it lol. We used to String Trim it all when we first started. Then we tried to push mow it. Then we bought our Hustler Trimstar Walkbehind and mowed it for a long time with that mower. Finally sold the Hustler and thankful the Z3X can hang on this hill! 👍
