John Petrucci is what of the most humble guitarists ever and one of greatest guitarists alive. Listening to half and hour of his interview is just incredible!
I normally hate gold hardware, but on my the new JP guitars, it looks amazing! Regal and classy. I think it's the color of the guitar. That color combined with gold looks SO good.
What I found interesting is when he said the first EBMM he ever picked up and played was the EVH model (of which, along with a new Cutlass, I own an original from 94!) As John said the EVH neck was "so easy to play, not a baseball bat", which is something to me because, the EVH neck (which is really small, and awesomely comfortable) is quite different dimension wise from the JP necks. While the JP neck is smallish as well (and of course, very fast and easy to play) the EVH/Cutlass necks are much rounder, with a totally different radius, a 10 inch compared to the JP's 16 I believe. Also the whole JP neck profile is so much flatter. So basically what happened was, he kept the from front to back flat profile dimensions of the Ibanez neck that he prefers, and had EBMM make it with their smaller nut width. I've never played a Petrucci Ibanez so I can't say exactly how identical they are however, I do believe they're similar to a point.
I've only touched for a couple minutes an Ibanez JPM, but I don't think you're that far off the mark. The "viper" neck, I think it was called, is thinner at the nut compared to most Ibanez necks, especially modern ones, and has a round back which fills the hand very nicely. I'm not sure if all JPMs had that neck though.
i played an EVH MM way back at a trade show and was equally impressed, though a major factor for me was the satin finish. i wonder whether that had anything to do with it for JP, too. Though with that said, only some of the JP signature MMs have a satin finish on the neck.
I just grabbed an original JP6 from 2002 in mint condition; one of the better guitars I've ever had. So easy to play, and sounds just as good! Music Man really makes top-quality instruments!
@@jimyang6285 I bought mine through a friend for $1500 + - a few dollars. Bought a Mesa Dual Rec Roadster 4 ch. Head for around less ran 1500. Mesa dealerships a stupor because Mesa is so tight and they must sell for fun retail.
I think the majority of musical instruments have skyrocketed in price, partly due to inflation but also due to material costs and labor. I had an LTD Alexi-200 in 2008 that costed me $430 CAD...the same guitar is now $1000CAD, for an entry level bolt on flying V with a Floyd Rose Special. Also, there's been a heavy shift of manufacturing locations too...while the prices have increased, a vast majority of the previously $800 priced guitars are now $1100-1500 and made in Indonesia whereas 10 years ago, this price point ($800 to 1500) was reserved for South Korea models (which are now around $2000). So I can assume that this has impacted guitars made in America as well.
Actually "piezo" is derived from the Greek πιέζω (exactly how John pronounced it), which means to squeeze or press. The greek word for "pressure" is "piesi" (accent on the pi). Nope, that's not like Gus Portokalos' (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) outrageous etymologies, it is actually true :)
The evolution of the Stingray and Cutlass from similar Fender products, EVH's input into the Axis, and now Wolfies guitar's have impacted the industry in ways that are hard to even measure. Personally don't care much for the Majesty. The other descendants in the JP line, are more my style.
I was wondering the exact same thing as I didn't recognize it. Makes me wonder if it might be one of those promotional CD or DVDs that would come in some of the special edition Guitar magazine like those from UK or Japan that would have additional material in the form of small video lessons or interviews complimentary to what appeared on the magazine article. Maybe anyone else here might know or have it ?
The best notes I have ever created were me trying to re-create John’s sound. I have a JP 60 made by Sterling and every time I lean forward the whammy bar falls out. does this guitar have the same issue?
you need to get a small allen wrench and you can adjust the tightness on it. the Music Man models just pop in but yeah you if you look on the hole youre whammy bar goes in there should be a place to put a small allen wrench to tighten it
Those MMs are great instruments and I respect mr John Petrucci and love his music with all my heart, but honestly being a sofa warrior I don't think I play good enough even for my trusty old Les Paul and Tele. Don't know what would I do with all those features - that would be like putting a tractorist into an F1-bolid cockpit :-) Need to try and make a gig or two with friends - maybe that'd give some idea what this sophisticated stuff is all about. Great guitars nevertheless !!!
They use metal backplates so they probably expand/contract faster than wood so recessing them might give issues. The majesty can't have recessed backplates since the electronics take up too much depth in the majesty so they need to put it above the guitar.
John petrucci wae minta ijin celana nya bolong. Klo di negaraku bangga celana bolong2 ketika jadi tamu, mereka mengaku rock n roll (yg bener2 musisi sprti john saja mlh sungkan kayak gt pakai celana sobek2 wkwkwk) . Jios bener2 down to earth
Honestly, they look a little plain to me. I would have thought they would have come up with something more eye catching for an anniversary model. The flame maple doesn't have much of a 3D effect on the bolt on version. The Majesty looks relatively nicer and it has a better maple piece but there isn't enough contrast in the finish. For the most part, they look like ordinary sunburst guitars. I also don't understand why he wants gloss paint on his necks. I would think that would slow him down.
A horrible interview on Paul's part. Kept interrupting JP, making this more about himself rather than JP and the guitars. Kudos to JP to playing it cool.

True!
"I play normal, I just... have the ability to transcend time and end the universe."
Woohoo!!! Half and hour of John Petrucci!!🙌
Anderton’s did an almost 2 hour Captain Meets video. 🤪
We have to buy all of Petruccis albums...he can only afford one pair of jeans!

My Ibanez 540P had rubber rings around the tone and volume knobs in 1992.
Paul needs his own 20th anniversary guitar world video. Been around forever
John congrats on the 20th anniversary Music Man

The Majesty is one of the coolest looking guitars I've ever seen
I think it‘s fugly, but still would love to try one
it's the BEST looking guitar, yes

“Sort of play traditional”… got it! Humble person.
Beautiful guitars!!! Love them!!!
John has such a massive unreal tone. I love it man🎸🎼🎸🎼😎💜
Finally, Paul said piezo correctly!! LOL Miss ya gents! Loving my JP6 20th and looking forward to its matching Majesty! 🤘😜👍
I need an ibanez John petrucci model reissue
Demonstrating the advantages of neck-through guitars ...
The Majesty is very cool.
Seriously considering getting hold of one of these. The craftsmanship looks absolutely fantastic.
The JPs are my concept of perfect electric guitar, i'm sure the majesty is a great instrument but i cant get used to the design
