    Definitely going to leave a like and hit the bell notification after this.

    More life to you brother. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I’d also say that if you’re going to create something, create something with lasting impact no matter how great or small it may seem to society. If one person grows from experiencing your art then there is purpose in it.
    Also to anyone reading this, don’t create something if you’re not going to put a piece of your soul into it. Creating simply to appease the algorithm is meaningless and you’ll be the only one left empty once the dust settles.
    The film is finished but reality is not. More life.🎩🕯️

    Hey buddy just keep doing what you're doing. ALL of my favorite artists from music,tv, movies and TH-cam creators just did what they love and the fans came to them. Ignore it all and just keep doing what You want!!!

    • @Thomas.R.Howell
      @Thomas.R.Howell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly! That is what brings genuine joy to my soul, creating and making what I WANT. Thank you for the encouragement!

    Dude I'm thinking like a mystery science theater vibe...we have the camera behind us and we watch our favorite scenes from a movie and talk about it while we watch it. Keep being you and don't give up!

      I like this idea, but I have a feeling you're running the risk of getting hit with copyright strikes. Or, at the very least, if you do get to where you can monetize, the copyright holder for the film being discussed/viewed would claim your video so that they get all the revenue from that video.

    Great video again dude, I feel this too. I refuse to ask for likes and subscriptions, I just wanted to make some videos and don't have cameras so used a game to do it.
    I feel exactly the same. It's actually nice to hear another creative say all this as it's hard watching others beg for likes etc and do so well. Thankyou for knocking this together

      Glad I'm not alone feeling this way. It's wild how begging for likes and subscriptions is commonplace now.

      @@Thomas.R.Howell I've always felt that if someone takes the time to leave a comment or a like it's because I've made something they've enjoyed and it's genuine. I'm not sure I'd get the same feeling and I definitely don't think I'd learn if I got likes etc regardless.

    Your video popped up in my suggestions and I definitely agree! TH-cam suggests asking for likes and subscribes to put that suggestion in viewers heads but I’m thinking-What? Aren’t people intelligent enough to figure that out for themselves? The sponsored videos deter me many times from watching a channel too because I don’t feel they are being genuine many times.
    Enjoy and welcome!

    • @Thomas.R.Howell
      @Thomas.R.Howell  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! It’s such an odd phenomenon asking for likes and subs EVERY video like it’s some formulaic template. We as viewers can think for ourselves and if you’re honest and genuine I’m most likely subbing! Not because you asked me.
      So happy you found your way to my channel! I don’t know if you’re a bookworm but I primarily do videos on book reviews and I talk about certain storytelling techniques and subjects. Hope you stick around!

    I get the impression that you are this thoughtful and caring in real life and i wn sure that is what has beought you success in business. I am much tbe same way. Always delving dewo and thinking deeply. We are always told we have to be type A personalities, that we habe to he good at everything, etc., etc. there is no time tk cool down and relax. Im going to make time for that. And as fir crewting cintent, i used ti habe a book blog, which i created for about three months, but iust burnt out from lack of traction. There is no interest in really, truly talking about knowkedge and books.

    How can someone sell himself for years without ever producing content apart from sponsorship and "pumping up" things? I believe at a certain point you are just selling your soul (until it lasts). Thank you for being a human being.

    Good British accent 😂. I can always tell if I’m going to subscribe just by taking in the topic being discussed, and knowing I will want more. I also love feeling like I’m being immersed in a mood or a vibe. Everything from fantasy lore deep dives, to nomadic van life videos, to Lofi/Synthwave content, to even city exploration/beach sounds videos… yes I’m different lol but that stuff gets a ‘subscribe’ out of me without ever being asked. 🏝️
    Also appreciate the encouragement to never give up. That’s very hard for me. I don’t think I really trust my own unique imagination enough to calm my anxiety and just finish my writing or artistic pursuits. I let fear of imperfection and fear of my ideas being “disappointing” to others get in my way every time. But I won’t give up.

      I suffer from that too! I procrastinate out of fear of failure. Every wedding film I craft, it always has to be better than the last.
      It can be very daunting when you are staring at a blank canvas. Where do you start? What’s the first splotch of paint going to look like? What if I mess up?
      But once I swipe my paint brush and place that first bit of paint on my canvas, I’m at home. Ready to create something amazing. Something I’m proud of!
      Thank you for sharing your experience with me! I’m actually diving into some worldbuilding advice videos soon

      @@Thomas.R.Howell That's what I'm here for! I started a book-related channel recently as well. Just starting out, I decided that I'd rather do this and suck at it than not try at all, hopefully getting better at it in time. Few are great from the start. Your philosophy on what you create here really resonates with me. Several of the book YT channels I started following years ago that were really simple in the beginning have morphed into everything that's messed-up about YT - spectacle over substance. I'm not going to beg for likes/subs. I'm not going to read something just because it's the "in" book/author, buy a bunch of books just to show off my "haul". Not going to make promises to post every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, etc. I just want to read what I want to read and start a conversation about it. I DO need to eventually get a lavalier mic so I'm not just relying on my iPad being 24 inches from my face though - all in good time :)

      I love that! Let’s GOO! It’s all about the right attitude. Our WHY. Why do we do something. You’ve got your why and you’ve got the right attitude about this!
      I literally just filmed a video on modern book culture. I can’t stand book hauls and reading challenges lol. That’ll be out soon!
      What kind of books do you like to read? What are some of your favorites?

    • @unpretentious_book_talk

      @@Thomas.R.Howell My reading is kinda all over the place, but most common reads are adult fantasy, historical fiction, and christian nonfiction/theology, with a dash of contemporary fiction, thrillers, and history as palate cleansers. I want to get into more classic literature, but I often feel like I don't have the mental capacity for it after a long day at work. A few favorites include Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, Mario Puzo's The Godfather, Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove, Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, Iain Murray's 2-volume biography of D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and Randy Alcorn's Heaven.
      Recently picked up Oliver Ready's translation of Crime & Punishment - hoping to tackle that one soon!
