    I’ve owned 3 ssr and 1 Apollo rfz the Apollo is more comfortable and balanced especially for bigger riders (I’m 6,3 260lbs) but the ssr is faster for some reason idk why but even my first ssr with bad rings burning oil like a 2 stroke was faster then the rfz
    Also anyone who is scared of buying these Chinese bikes because of bad reviews doesn’t need to worry, they are very reliable and cheap to repair I beat the crap out of these bikes and have let several people learn manual on them and they never break just regular maintenance and loctite on bolts my first ssr was a 110 that sat under a tree for 4 years with no carb on it. It was seized and cylinder was full of pinestraw rust and mud dauber nest and after freeing it up with vinegar and marvel mystery oil even that clapped out bike ran great

    Awesome upload...very nicely done! I just bought a used SSR125...didn't know until I got it home how hard it had been treated by the previous owner. It's a 2021 model but the back wheel was basically destroyed...bent axle bolt etc. Got a new wheel ordered. I'm so ready to get this bike back out to ride...so much fun :) Keep the uploads coming!

      Thank you I hope you get your bike back together soon so you can go out and enjoy it that sounds like a prime example of what I was saying in the video where people don’t do the maintenance and tighten everything down. A bent axle bolt sounds like it was loose and that’s how it got bent make sure you lock tight everything you get access to. Also it helps to use a paint to mark the bolts for visual to see if any come loose after every other ride

      Again, anyone know anything about Thumpstar? Scary when you’re ready to drop over 2 grand and there’s nothing née, no responses on their website or especially their ghost town Facebook page.

    I got an Apolo ADR-125 (basically the venom motorsports version of the rfz-125 and they branded it as a "venom Thunder") It's not a bad bike. More value per $ than the Japanese or North American bikes imo. I think for the riding I do the Apolo is the better choice because it's higher off the ground and I go through a lot of water and muck on the abandoned roads I ride.

  • @patarmstrong3582
    @patarmstrong3582 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a number of these bikes, including a 2016 Apollo rfz 125. I'm surprised you didn't touch on the fact that these bikes very likely share the same transmission gearing. Likely the only difference is the wheel size, which I bet shares the same sprockets. So- the final drive ratio is determined by the rear wheel size. My Apollo has such a short first gear, it is almost useless. It is a 14/17 bike. I also have a bike with 12/12 rims and it also has a 125 but milled head, z40 cam. I don't notice a big difference in power despite the tire size difference. ( it's 125 is a generic amazon unit). Both bikes top out about 50. I'd be curious to know what gearing differences between the ssr and Apollo are, if any.

    Good morning all! Seems like the ssr has more gitty up than the apollo from my perspective, sounds like the apollo needs a better carb or something? SSR wins in a competition for performance but the bigger tires on the Apollo make it easier to ride, Ive experienced some sketchy situations due to the small wheels but never the less fun as heck. I have a question so the manual says the carbs 22mm and the link goes to a 26mm carb, what's the difference? Should I look for an aftermarket 22mm carb or is the 26mm better?

    • @throttlefamily4655
      @throttlefamily4655  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the 26 flows more air and fuel but I’m sure you could get the same performance out of either or if your jetting is correct

    • @patarmstrong3582
      @patarmstrong3582 ปีที่แล้ว

      Measure! Most vm26 are actually 22 mm venturi diameter. 22mm is what these bikes like unless you have extensively modified them. A 22 mm will provide more velocity in the intake charge, and will have snappy throttle response, versus a bigger carb which may flow more at a lower velocity and feel soggy. You won't see any meaningful gains because it runs so poorly from idle to 3/4 throttle with a too big carb. Even a true 24mm carb won't gain you much if any top speed. More effort to get the carb jetted is time well spent. My 2016 Apolla had the carb riveted shut. That was the first thing I replaced.

Which is why it performs better out of the box. Atleast that's what I've gathered from my research, I almost bought one for my gokart. Running a tillotson 212 stage 2. Those bigger tires definitely help if it had a 140cc piranha or the 190 Daytona this bike would be awesome!!!

      I would love to see this.
      I can get a new 140 BW Thumpstar an hour down the road for $2199.00 but if the lack of information on these bikes don’t scare you, my local dealer will !!!

      It was a horrible comparison because the Apollo isn't running well. Malcolm Smith a famous motocross racer always said that bigger wheels are better when it comes to these small bikes. They like the circus bike because it runs great, they may have the same carburetor but they did not tune the Apollo correctly.
      This video is backwards because engineers give these bikes bigger Wheels even with the same engines so you can perform better over more demanding obstacles. They never intended that a test would be done with an unturned crap engine. I can't wait to see them perform at the circus

    You don't have the Apollo running right, and of course any bike with the same good running engine with bigger wheels will do better on whoops and everything else except for a circus performance.

      They both have the same carburetors they both run great the exhaust tone on the apollo blows out the mic with the drone. The bigger wheels have more rotating mass and that takes away from some of the power as well as it is a heavier bike. I’m also a 200lb rider. Both motors are almost identical. As being said with those factors the ssr being being lighter with smaller wheels will give it more transferred power to the ground to get moving.
