This is the accelerated version with map from a track walk on the abandoned West Loop (Westschleife) of the old Österreichring, today known as Red Bull Ring.

The Österreichring was one of the finest Formula One circuits in the 70's and 80's. In 1996 the track was shortened and the West Loop was abandoned.
Today there are rumours that the West Loop could be back into use within a couple of years. But as you can see in my video, there is a lot of work to do before this part will be suitable for racing again.
I made this track walk on Friday June 23, 2017, just two weeks before the Austrian Grand Prix.

Now here's a historic circuit I wish they would restore. So much of it is still there! Looks like they could even add runoff if desired. I'm not holding my breath, but hey I can dream.

The're even plans to reconnect the old West Loop. But there are problems with noise complaints by local residents. So it will be a hard battle to get this part operational again.

This track is so much fun to drive in Grand Prix Legends. Is the first corner a scary jump like it is in that game?

Yes it is. But in 1977 they changed into a chicane, because of tha fatal accident of Mark Donohue in 1975.

There was a rumour a few years ago that Red Bull were going to re-open parts of it for racing, but sadly nothing has come of it. About 10 years ago there was also a proposed circuit map showing a new extension using parts of the old circuit, but again nothing happened. I believe local residents complained about noise?

That's right. It will be very difficult, if not impossible, to get permission to re-use the old section, because of the noise complaints.

Also eigentlich sind deine Videos immer richtig klasse.
Aber das ist nicht wirklich toll,weil es durch den schnellen Vorlauf viel zu hektisch ist.
Man sieht kaum was.
Aber ansonsten ein dickes Lob für deine Mühe immer wieder diese alten Tracks aufzuspüren und abzugehen bzw fahren.
Was mich auch interessieren würde woher Du immer weisst wie die alten Strecken verlaufen sind.
Weil manche gehen ja heute quasi durch Städte oder auch Wohngebiete.
