You built the most cost affective 1000 usd gaming pc, its the exact parts I would chose to make this price point, and it's also a beautiful build, I didn't know matx could come out so nice!
Great build! My son and I just built an ATX gaming system with the 5700 X3D, 32gb ram and a RX 7700 XT in the NZXT H5 and he is very happy with it! I built a 13700, 32gb ram, and RTX 4070 in the same A3 case. The mATX form factor is so under appreciated. I moved the power supply to right side of the cases next to the motherboard for easier cable management. 😊👍
I personally run an mATX system, and I really like how its not as bulky has a normal ATX system and doesn't compromise on air flow like how mini-ITX systems are. Its a perfect middle ground.
Thanks for the mATX love! I think it provides the best combination of functionality, features and space efficiency. Most ITX builds aren't much smaller, once you factor in that you have to fit in a PSU and GPU. And you're generally more limited in expandability with the single PCIe slot and not much room for m.2. And cooling is a nightmare. I just wish MB makers wouldn't treat mATX like a red-headed step child. The release of X870/X870E chipset has zero mATX boards from the 4 major manufacturers. That's a shame. Just had to mention I wrote this comment before I watched the video...
Getting ready to build two workstations almost exactly the same. Same case, same case fans and number of fans. Your fan layout is interesting. I could see having two intake fans over the mb but the third over the psu should be flipped to exhaust or just removed. The psu fan and the top front intake fan are goin to be fighting each other. At least this is my opinion. Great build Greg. Love your channel.
mATX is the best size in my opinion, modern PCs don't really need much expansions anymore and this is much easier to move around and travel with on flights. 💅
True, but oftentimes there _are_ things you do want to add and then you can, I have added 2 sata M.2 drives and a PCIe 4.0×4 drive in my main and in my secondary system I added an Intel wifi 7 card and GPS reveiver (for nanosecond resolution time not location). Using just mITX that would have been a problem. The one thing I am kinda sad about is DTX never took off, 4 PCB out of 1 plate for economy, still 2 slots (1GPU one something else) and size in the width for 3-4 NVMe slots next to the cpu for the shortest traces no need for expensive retimers that are in short supply all the time. Who knows, it might now though, risers and NVMe is all around now. Otherwise flex-ATX would still be good but a little cramped maybe. We could do better than ((E)ATX all the time as the only other option besides mini-ITX.
I just want to change/upgrade from time to time and just don't think it is worth the hassle. But that experience is mainly from ultra-SFF. For a Plex server aspect that needs multi-terabyte hard drives or even multiple NVMe drives, these just won't cut it without compromise. Even in some full-size cases, you can't fit certain AiOs. Everyone has different preferences.
Frankly, Towers should be large enough to cool easily, sit on the floor to reduce fan noise, with or without RGB as RGB is pointless as you watch the monitor.
Really?!? After 30+ years of building I still love building them. I have numerous computers because I love building them more than gaming on them. I’m just not at home enough being a truck driver, I have the money now but not the time now. I always come home to a ton of parts that I bought while I was on the road.
@@TheFalseShepphard Still a PC though. Also, we've had computers for quite a bit longer than that, they just werent nearly as powerful, customizable or open to the market until I think the late 70s or early 80s. I have a vintage OmniTech sitting in my wardrobe that has an old pentium III, 128mb ram and a 40gb HDD running windows XP, and even that is now 23 years old I think.
@@TheFalseShepphardThere were Beige and black PCs, and wild Alienware color ones not much later. I had an IBM AT with AMD 486/40 that was in a black case from factory. Also guys making ITX cases out of old wooden radios, or from scratch with wood and alu/copper.
@@TheFalseShepphard of course there were, they weren’t as varied as they are now but there was still a wide variety of them. Honestly it was a lot more exciting back then.
there are plenty of boards but the number of m.2 slots is limited, the number of pcie slots being limited isnt such a problem now dual gpus is no longer a thing, but those lanes still have to be shared with m.2 slots more often on mATX. but... i dont need more than 2 m.2 drives and a sata ssd will be fine for keeping backups on. oh and depending on case, the largest gpus may not fit in. cooling could be an issue with a cpu and gpu running hot also. and a lot of mATX cases are not much smaller than a small ATX one. if ATX almost fits in the same space and you arent going SFF then people go ATX so they then have the choice of ATX board with up to 3 m.2 or mATX with more space for airflow etc.
Sharp looking build, really love that case. I’ve never done an M-ATX build before mainly because I didn’t like the layout of the cases, this one looks much better.
I actually got this motherboard for myself about two years ago and ended up giving it to my kiddo for Xmas instead as he bought a bad mobo in a combo buy off FB market. Just a week ago we upgraded him to the 5700x3d and I ran him the wiring and m.2 Wi-Fi card properly as we moved him into a new case too. (Previous Wi-Fi wires ran to a PCI slot plate before we realized the io shield had the cut outs)
The B550M Steel Legend is such a good board for the money. I bought mine when it was fresh and the new hotness for like... $180, been an excellent part that I've been able to recommend over the years to several others. :>
I bought the B450 Steel Legend years ago and absolutely hated it, it wouldn't allow any type of overclock of my 3900x, so I ended up returning it. From what I've been hearing though Asrock has gotten alot better since the B450 days.
I quite like matx and itx builds. but with the size of gpu's and me personally want as much air to move in a case, then i end with a atx and large/mid tower case. But this build is fantastic and i love the lian li case, its really nice and i like that it has alot of perforation. Looking forward to the next video :D stay safe :D
I built in the non wood version of this case, that front pannel is a solid pice of plastic, fortunately the power suply and the ssd mounts are swappable so the PSU can pull clean air through the back mesh pannel. The build is dense but amazing.

I have a lot to say about this build, because I have same mobo 😊 1. Its same age that 3xxx ryzens, so you can get mobo with old bios and there is no flashback feature 2. There is no type-c connector on board, so to make type-c work in front of the case you'll need to buy adapter, that converts internal USB3 to type-c 3. I don't know why, but you choose non modular PSU with case that don't have any place for cable management between mobo and right side of the case. 4. I recently got my first mATX build not long ago. The rest of my machines are ATX or mITX. I started using smaller because I’m running of room for all computers. I’m actually planning another mATX build with the 7600X3D I recently bought. Awesome build and great video as always. I love my 5800X3D machine too.
1:22 I'm still singing the praises of the Silicon Power US75 or XS70. Around 60 and can't be beat. (US75 is fast no DRAM, XS70 has heatsink and DRAM for ~10 more)
The great thing about the higher end Asrock boards is they still have the m.2 slot for the wifi, so all you need is a wifi antenna kit if you do want wifi down the line but not have any PCIe slots available
if the cables in the PSU are short, you can mount the PSU on the side in place of the 2.5-inch tray and the tray on the front the selected motherboard has a dedicated M.2 A+E key slot for Wifi/Bt modules, so you don't have to waste a PCIe slot

Thing you don't see much of these days are builds in HTPC Cases as i still like a PC that sit's under my TV which is also used for ripping CD's and Blu-ray
I have been considering this case for a while now as i want to leave ATX and my gigantic Hyte y60 case 😅 I love the look of this case, the flexibility and front wooden panel 👌
overall nice build👌, one smal gripe i have is the top fans being intake fans and if there is a airfilter just get rid of it because of airflow restictions, so i myself would always make top fans exaust fans (because heat rises). but i guess its always preferance of each and everyone.
My PC is in Asus AP201 case and I love it. I fitted Noctua U12P tower cooler and EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra no problem. The case looks very similar to this LianLi, top and side panel's, and PSU mount.
Good thing the pcie lane on this mobo is on the upper most slot. Most manufacturers on matx boards tend to put it on the 2nd slot, which is not ideal for beefier cards on a matx case
I just literally built in exactly this case for an entertainment room gaming rig I did go with the microcenter chip 7600X3D I already had 7800XT exactly the one you have in this video So I splurged a little on the PSU went with an SFX lian li 850 W 2TB nvme
Seems fine however one thing i'd definitely change is storage space as in getting more of it. 1TB isn't enough for me. I'd probably look for a 10TB+ hard drive.
Dude, perfect build. I would have spent 30 bucks more (EU prices here) to get the 5800x3D just for the feeling that I have maxed out the platform. Paying extra for the GRE would not have been worth it IMHO because you are too close to the 7900xt then. So congratulations for a reasonable build with endless gaming fun!
Remove the ssd bracket, use a sfx psu and place it on the right side and then you can put a fan in front as intake. Also, For AIO....the new Arctic freezer 3 does not fit with the included fans, you can solve it using slim fans. I highly recommend a modular sfx psu. Note: this mobo does not have a usb-c front header so you can not use the connector on the front io panel
I like the case, it reminds me of the NCase M1 with the layout. That isn't surprising because Lian Li made that one too. It's like a more refined version of the SAMA IM01.
Me personally, I'm not a fan of the white memory and the motherboard being partly white, I always go full black, with a hint of RGB (mostly try and match wood aesthetic as I love it haha). All in all though, it still looks like a fantastic build and a great video!
love your videos @GregSalazar M-ATX is still one of my favorite size of motherboards. Plus my first pc was a micro-atx inspired by the walter white you build in your early videos.
I reused an old Insignia D300 tower that was mATX specific. I cobbled together some spare PC parts and only had to buy a motherboard. I chose a B450 chipset MB due to cost and upgrade path or lack thereof. R5 3600 CPU and my overpriced RTX A2000 6GB for gfx. 600w EVGA 80+ Bronze. 32GB RAM at 3200 MT/s (mismatched. Half of it is Crucial Ballistix and the other half is Samsung OEM sticks). Silicon Power M.2 SSD 1TB and Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE. MX-4 Thermal Paste. Nice console-like performance. Eventually, when I find an acceptable replacement, the A2000 will get replaced. Maybe a 1660 TI, 3050 or 3060 will be decent enough to game on without being a bottleneck.
1:50 if you are in the budget range a 7900GRE is on sale for 502 dollars. It is faster than the (admittedly excellent) 7800XT. Overclock the RAM on it and it starts to get near a 7900XT though. Also consider a 6800XT used for 300 dollars if you are on a budget.
My previous build (~2017) was a micro-ATX build using a Thermaltake Core V21. I thought it would be cool to save some space and have a compact PC. But the experience was less than pleasant because I'm a big guy with large hands. My latest build (April) was done in a Antec P20C mid-tower (EATX). There's so much more room for activities! 😂
Case is really cool for me I think I'll go for all black out build. Is there a continuation of the zero DB PC build in the future and I hope Greg hits 1m subs already he continues to pump out so much great tech content for us.
My mATX build has the Fractal mini pop air case; only about $10 more when it was on sale, and comes with 4 RGB fans. It also has 2 "hidden" drive bays, so I could keep my DVD for ripping CDs. That might have been the only change I'd make
i just upgraded to AM5 a few weeks ago and i was considering getting that Lian Li case but I don't like how the PSU mounts and I didn't know if my Arctic LF III AIO would fit in the case. I ended up going with a Lian Li Lancool 206 and the AIO JUST fits top mounted. The only thing I don't like about the Lancool 206 is it's a pretty massive case compared to what i was using, a Lian Li 011 Air Mini. I wouldhave stayed with the Air Mini but my 280 AIO couldn't keep up with my R9 7900X and a 360 AIO doesn't fit in the Air Mini.
I actually got a 7800xt on launch day, got the steel legend version to go with my white ITX build, the card is really fast and for 500 bucks was a pretty good deal. I personally think it's a great card
Just built in this case (black version). It's really nice but I ordered a tempered glass side panel to replace the mesh panel to hopefully muffle horrible coil whine from the GPU.
I'd actually go for mATX for client builds as much as possible. Normally my clients wouldn't upgrade their storage that much (unless they spec the build to hold a lot of SSDs like I do), or install more ram than the typical dual channel setup.
Shout-out to spare claps!
Nobody wants the clap.
Spare claps!?

mATX is underrated to be honest.
In Brazil, Mini ITX is too expansive to be viable, so mATX is the way to go for a small PC
Always loved mATX/MFF. It’s perfect for the people who don’t want a massive tower in their room but also do not want to pay the ITX tax 🎉

overall nice build👌, one smal gripe i have is the top fans being intake fans and if there is a airfilter just get rid of it because of airflow restictions, so i myself would always make top fans exaust fans (because heat rises). but i guess its always preferance of each and everyone.
My PC is in Asus AP201 case and I love it. I fitted Noctua U12P tower cooler and EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra no problem. The case looks very similar to this LianLi, top and side panel's, and PSU mount.
Kudos to the build. Wishing I have that kind of system.
LOVE the wood look.
Good thing the pcie lane on this mobo is on the upper most slot. Most manufacturers on matx boards tend to put it on the 2nd slot, which is not ideal for beefier cards on a matx case
Nice compact build, ideal budget gamer
So congratulations for a reasonable build with endless gaming fun!
i love this. pretty much my first build.
Nice PC build. definatly a desk top PC rather than floor mounted with the ports on the bottom.
love your videos @GregSalazar M-ATX is still one of my favorite size of motherboards.
12:00 The fan sticker guy didn't have a steady hand when putting sticker on a CPU fan :)
I like ASRock motherboards ..can't speak about warranty never had to use it!!!!
Great build Greg! The only difference I would make would be to give it to me instead, haha.
I was on atx, switched to mitx because i wanted something small. I shouldve took a small leap rather than a large one. Matx is the Goldilocks
My mATX build has the Fractal mini pop air case; only about $10 more when it was on sale, and comes with 4 RGB fans. It also has 2 "hidden" drive bays, so I could keep my DVD for ripping CDs. That might have been the only change I'd make
9:17. That EVGA grill is straight up Mayan calendar
Honestly looks pretty sick
Greg, what are the GPU temps after a few hours of gaming ?
Cool build, but when are we gonna get a video of you nerding out over those guitars you got hanging up back there?
i just upgraded to AM5 a few weeks ago and i was considering getting that Lian Li case but I don't like how the PSU mounts and I didn't know if my Arctic LF III AIO would fit in the case.
Pretty sweet!
Appreciate it, man!
Very sweet man, nice.
Lol..I just built an mATX build for my friend yesterday..using the same mobo and cpu
Just built in this case (black version). It's really nice but I ordered a tempered glass side panel to replace the mesh panel to hopefully muffle horrible coil whine from the GPU.
Nice video
Thanks for watching!
I'd actually go for mATX for client builds as much as possible. Normally my clients wouldn't upgrade their storage that much (unless they spec the build to hold a lot of SSDs like I do), or install more ram than the typical dual channel setup.
Hello everyone keep up the good work Greg
mAtx for the win. Got a similar steel legends board with Intel 12th gen cpu and its great bang for buck
i would used a sfx with atx adaptor bracket in a small case like this but nice build
The algorithm must have you baked in because everything is now like $20-$40 more expensive ha. Spare Claps & Smiling Tackle Box FTW
Awesome build! Building an EATX soon?
My current pc is matx because that's the largest form factor that i can fit in my desk setup
